It’s no secret that I love historical romances. My problem is simply finding the good ones. Too often I’ll start one, only to find myself picking apart the blatant discrepancies and inaccuracies for the period. Or the spineless heroine will bore me to no end. Or the so-called hero will be impossible to like, much less root for in the story. But His Viking Bride by Olivia Norem seemed like exactly the kind of story I’d enjoy. Æstrid, a Viking princess, finds her whole world turned upside down whe ...more

Leidolf Karisson (14, Æstrid’s younger brother, heir Karissonholdt throne), & Æstrid Karisson Kollsvein (Leidolf’s sister, Viking princess) were out paddling about in a canoe.
3 bloody Picts (mortal enemies) were attacking the 2 of them.
Leidolf was killed.

Æstrid killed 1 pict but her world went black.
When she a woke Æstrid was tied up in a cave.
Later the picts staked/bound her in front of a bonfire.
The Norsemen Veleif Kollsvein (Viking prince), Ingor, Arnor (Norseman healer), & Halfdan wanted to

I thought this was really good. You have to bear in mind that this was no a time period for equal rights, but women are mostly for trading in exchange for land or an heir.
Our heroine, Aestrid Karisson is rescued from the evil Picts by an opposing group of Vikings who do not see eye to eye with her father. After the initial introduction of bad treatment as they mistake her identity, she becomes the object of wooing from Veleif Kollsvein, Viking prince as his advisors have strongly suggested he t

Wow this book was awful. So-called ‘hero’ chains and then cheats on heroine right in front of her with two maids and she doesn’t think anything of it. Granted he’s not yet with her but considering he’s attracted to her and then sleeps with two other women AT THE SAME TIME and then acts like it’s no big deal... well lets just say it wasn’t my cup of tea. He literally thinks nothing of it, instead he’s more concerned about food after ‘a night of lovemaking’ as he calls it with the OW. The weird th ...more
The Book Junkie Reads . . .
Viking Prince, Veleif rescues a kidnapped, up for sacrifice Viking Princess, Aestrid. At the time not knowing that she was the viking princess. Aestrid was strong, opinionated, fierce, headstrong, determined, and wickedly cleaver. She was the one that held it all together for me.

There are lots, LOTS of characters, action, adventure, and more. There was one determined princess that wanted to go home. That had an equally determined prince, after some convincing, that wanted to seduce this little

Thoroughly Enjoyed

I throughly enjoyed this story. I listed to the audible and read. Both were excellent. This story reminded me of why I fell in love with romance books to begin with. The story has two strong people that are thrown together by circumstances and love is born. The snappy dialogue, the supporting characters are more than entertaining. I just wish I had another book by this author to sink into. Get the audible version. The narration is excellent! It adds just the right touch to the

The story was different, and enjoyable, although there are a fair amount of parts I skimmed through because some things just seemed to go on and on too much. I did like the characters, though a few times, the main female character grated on my nerves a bit with all her complaining all the time. And while there were many scenes in the story I truly enjoyed reading, I found it repeated itself quite a bit They have a disagreement, they throw insults/threats at each other, they fight, one or the oth ...more

This book was good, however, some things happened that I just couldn't get over. His treatment of her was unforgivable in my opinion. However, she fought and fought. I found their verbal sparring humorous and entertaining, but Leif. I guess he was exactly how you would expect a viking to be. But seriously, I can't get over what he did when they first met. I just can't. His treatment of her was just... let's just say it goes beyond that dominant male possessiveness. Somewhere you have to draw the ...more

This is a fun, steamy read.

I was not a fan of the depiction of a first sexual experience, as it seemed to go off of myth more than reality but that was the only real issue I had.

Some historical elements seemed odd, like two viking areas not having the same food or traditions? But I'm not enough of a historian to debunk that.

Greg Patmore did a good job with the audiobook.
A perfectly engaging romance with parts that are LOL funny. I enjoyed this book so much more than I expected and was sad to have it end. Wish it were part of a series. This is the Audible version and the narration by Greg Patmore was outstanding.
