Praying with Body and Soul: A Way to Intimacy with God
Praying with Body and Soul involves the whole our senses, our bodies at rest or in motion, ourimaginations, as well as our minds and emotions. By paying prayerful attention to the body people will not only recognize the ways in which they already pray, but will learn how to deepen their relationship with God.
Each chapter includes questions for reflection, and practical exercises, such as drawing, walking meditation, fasting, making music, dancing, and praying in sickness and disability. This guide to prayer can be used by individuals, prayer partners, and small groups.

There are not many books that I cannot finish. This was one of them. Not wanting to diminish the voice of the author, the vulnerability it takes to be open to critique or the hard work it takes to put thought to paper ; a book that states the obvious or restates the established , lacks imagination. One redeeming quality was the very simplistic , though appreciated, difference between curing and healing.

I think this is the book that Diana Butler Bass tried to compile in a series of essays. However, Jane Vennard says it all so much better.

Good practical book on prayer - full of creative ideas for getting outside of our normal ideas of prayer as sitting/kneeling with one's eyes closed.
