A great 2 part character YA book. The characters come off as stereo - typical at first. Then they develop into actual characters with personality.
I can see this being turned into a movie.

Insightful, funny, poetic...

It was strange to discover at the end of this book that the entries were written separately by a mother/daughter duo. The characters were immensely different yet the writing "voice" sounded so similar to me! Anywho, I enjoyed this. The teens are definitely not "normal" teens because their thoughts aren't completely vapid and selfish. They also use words in conversation like "indubitably" which only happens in chic teen shows like Gilmore Girls. It's a classic "cool gi

I enjoyed the banter between the two characters. Their relationship did develop unnaturally fast though and some chapters ended abruptly so some of the interactions were not shown to the reader. Otherwise a good read.

I really enjoyed it, but there were definitely parts I wanted to read that weren't there. Usually a chapter would end with something potentially explosive happening and I didn't get to witness it. Isn't that the point of a book? That you get to be totally nosy to these characters? Seriously. I wanna be there when those emotionally volatile things go down. It seems to end right before something interesting is going to happen. It got dangerously close to preachy at times. Also, because it would ju ...more

Brava, Anita Higman! I couldn't put this book down ~ I absolutely HAD to know what was going to happen! It was funny, clever, poignant and easy to read. I thought the characters were well-developed and seemed very real. I don't want to give too much away, but a H.S. psychology teacher pairs students up to do ten activities together, each person picking five of the activities. In this book we mainly follow Audrey (the beautiful snob) and Piper (the not-so-beautiful 'loser'). The author weaves the ...more

A very touching story..

Piper and Audrey have been paired up by their teacher for a class summer project. The girls are opposites and don't even get along. They each take turns selecting things to do over the next 6 weeks and then at the end, have to write a paper describing how things worked or didn't. Several things happen in each of their lives that either bring them closer or push them farther appt. So by the end of the book, will they be best friends or enemies? This story is a very good sto
