Black and White Flowers has well and truly owned me in the 24 hours it's taken me to read it. It's stole my heart, it's crushed my soul, blown my mind and left me deliriously happy. I cannot even begin to describe the amount of emotions this book DRAGGED me through, if it exists, I FELT IT.
Everything from the heart breaking beginning of Carina, to the heat inducing meeting with Smith, to the complete OBLITERATION of ME was written with such beauty and precision.

I'm sorry but I had too many issues with this book. It's a shame because with such an original storyline, the novel had such great potential. The first 30-40% of the book was a solid 4 star read for me. After that, everything went downhill. I finally stopped reading it at 75% mark and just skimmed to the end.

My initial reaction when finishing this book was that.

I really do not know what to do with this book. One restless night of sleep later I still don't know.

I have come to the conclusion while I am writing my review on tram that I've decided to split this review into two parts.

I shall review as the blogger that I am.

Ms. Robinson knows how to spin a realistic story full of pain, heartache, honor, tragedy. A solitary beauty I haven't read in a long time.

I didn't like this story.

The opening chapters began strongly but when I got to grips with this book - I began to switch off and I got a bit lost in where the author was taking this story and the characters.

The book was a mixture of heavy trauma, romance, angsty and a times rather over descriptive. For example, we read about the pain of Carina’s childhood, to the comparison of how perfect Megan's nails were - I am not sure whether the author was trying to use this as an example of how very diffe

The blurb piqued my interest and I knew that I would not be the same after reading this book. There was so emotion put into it that I'm still trying to collect myself.

The Prologue was just heartbreaking and I could not hold back the tears. My heart broke for little Carina having no one on her side. I thought maybe, just maybe, her future would be better – but I hoped to no avail. Due to the circumstances of her upbringing, Carina was certain that she deserved what her fiancée gave her with his f

Books by Rachel Robinson always make me a bit nervous. Her characters are very realistic; with all the emotions, reactions and flaws of real-life people. And that makes them do things at times I don’t want to happen in my romance books. But it also what makes me love her stories, that realness. The story of Carina and Smith – Black and White Flowers – is not an easy one, but I love it.

A Rachel Robinson book is a feast for the senses. Her words are gripping and pull me right in from page one. I was actually hesitant to start this one, knowing that when I did, I wouldn’t be able to put it down to the detriment of real life. And that is exactly what happened! I was reading on my phone between errands, sitting in the car with it running, just to squeeze in some extra reading time. I was hooked and couldn’t get enough of this fantastic, heart-wrenching story.

I'm not sure how to begin. I'm so overwhelmed right now... Like always, Rachel Robinson knows how to kill me slowly and not so softly. I've read all of her SEAL books and this one was so different, so real, so so... Ugh... I'm struggling with my own words.
Carina is an author, a very successful one. She is engaged to an @sshole who abuses her, physically and emotionally.
With everything she's going through, she meets Smith at the most

This is a very hard review for me to write. I have no idea how to express how I feel, when I’m not sure what it is I am feeling about this book. Chapter One was real and raw and devastating and so many other things, then I started chapter two and Ms. Robinson lost me. After experiencing the heavy trauma of Carina’s childhood, the incongruity of the perfection of Megan’s manicured hands was off putting. I understood that it was a juxtaposition of the pasts of the main characters but it seemed an ...more

Wow! This has taken me for a roller coaster ride with emotions. It was heartfelt and gut wrenching at times. Smith is a navy SEAL that has part amnesia and Carina is a writer. They come together when she plans out to write an article of the experiences of a soldier in order to maybe help others. They spend time together Smith retelling his story, sparks fly, they have a very deep connection. But, the very thing that could help others might be Carina and Smith's demise.

OMG!! This book had me completely hooked from the very beginning. I finished it in under 24 hours but probably would have been completed it in one sitting had I been able to keep my eyes open last night. It made me feel every emotion from happy to sad to angry, and back to happy again. At times, I felt like I may shed a tear or 2 (I'm not opposed to that at all), but my emotions were pulled in every direction. I loved Carina and Smith from the very beginning. I received an ARC in exchange for an honest review.

This story grabbed me from the very first page. It took my heart hostage the entire time. An entire day later I’m still thinking about it.

“Oh Smith. You can’t save everyone.”
“I can try.”
“You can.”
“And so I will.”

Navy Seal, Smith Eppington continues to fight daily after an accident not only left his body scarred, but took away his memory. Fate brings him to Carina Painter, an author that wants to interview him for a fiction novel. The moment the

If you are familiar with Rachel, you know she can write the heck out of a Seal romance. I fell in love with Crazy Good a few years ago and continued to read all the books she’s published after that. Well, she has written a new Seal romance and it doesn’t disappoint, I can tell in her writing that this is a subject close to her heart. She poured her heart into this novel, she had my emotions on every level possible, I found myself me

This is an emotional thought provoking book that will tug at your heartstrings.
Carina had a difficult childhood where she experienced physical and verbal abuse and unfortunately her current relationship has descended into the same pattern of abuse. With the help and encouragement of her friend Jasmine she finds the courage to leave.
Smith is a Navy Seal who was badly injured on a mission as well as his physical injuries he has lost a large chunk of his memory, memories that involve his long ter

This book is a bit confusing for me. I'll try to explain.

There was so many "could of been more" moments through out this book. There was so many cliche moments thrown in here and it should of been a "less is more" thing on that. There was lots of angst and some other really good moments in the story. I did a lot of skimming in between those good parts to get to another one. The story was very up and down. The main characters, Carina and Smith, I never felt their chemistry they were suppose to h

Wow. Black and White Flowers was the most intense book I've read, it packed me, grabbed me and literally pulled me under its waves. 3.5. This book was both too long and not long enough. It’s an interesting premise and contained plenty of strong characters, but there were so many subplots that it could have easily been a more developed series. There were major shifts in their lives that I felt were abrupt and not given the gravitas the events could have held. I wanted to know more about the moments that were mentioned, and I felt wanting more details about the situations.

Whoa! This book totally surprised me, but in a really great way! I’m a big fan of Rachel Robinson’s other books, Crazy Good being my favorite, and while this book was also a SEAL novel, it was wildly different than what you might be used to from this author. Let me start off by saying wow this was definitely an emotional read. At times I had to take a breather because I felt like there was no way the story could keep going. I'd check the percentage and say to myself ok there's still time. The heroic aspect of this story was amazing. I felt like I could picture smith as an everyday hero. We tend to look the other way or not think about what our soldiers do for us. When does honor or a persons word mean more than your own feelings. Can Smith learn to ...more

When I read Black & White Flowers by Rachel Robinson I found many things I could relate too. I connected to the leads on a very personal level and things that might have felt far-fetched to others I can only confirm to be correct.

I loved the beautiful development of their relationship as strange as it started the whole story felt totally real to me. Until a certain point … at that point I actually got upset with the author for disturbing this beautiful story with a plot string.

I really enjoyed this book. It was my first by Rachel Robinson but it won't be my last. I was captivated from the beginning, and I loved watching things unfold.

Carina was a strong character, stronger than she herself realised. Meeting Smith and getting to know him was such an amazing thing. I won't ruin the story for anyone, but this has a lot of elements in it, and a lot of things that happen in this book, do happen to real pe

I feel like I'm in the minority here because although I did enjoy this book, I didn't feel like it wowed me. Starting this book, I was really excited because I loved the idea of the hero being physically scarred and he being a Navy Seal but I felt like there was something lacking. It might be just me because I'm the only one who didn't enjoy it as much and I've been on kind of a book funk. I just really felt like it was missing something to make me feel like, 'wow this book was amaz

Carina Painter hasn't had the easiest life. From a heart-breaking and gut-wrenching childhood to an abusive engagement, that has broken her in many ways, she lives her life through her writing.

Navy Seal Smith Eppington hasn't had it easy either, After an accident that has cost him his best friend, has left him with 70% of his body scarred and fighting to remember his past, Smith is fighting his own battle.

But when a author asks him if they can interview him for a fictional novel, he agrees and

Talk aboutout emotional upheaval! This book couldn't possibly have crammed in another twist of the knife if it tried.

Carina is a mess. Her life is it's own circle in Dante's Hell. Meeting Smith is like opening a door to a new world. But with all things new, you never know what you are going to get.

I read the first 20% of the book with my conspiracy theory radar up. I swore Megan was a bad guy. International spy ring, perhaps, Smith's accident was a hoax...anything to believe that wishes and dre

Rachel Robinson delivers a storyline I won't be forgetting anytime soon. I absolutely loved Smith. He was honorable, devoted and a loving alpha. Carina had a very tragic and sad past. The flashbacks she had made my heart hurt so much. She was broken and thought she didn't deserve any better. But Smith teaches her about self-worth and love. I'm not gonna lie, for a second there I was afraid this book had a sad ending, but I'm glad I was wrong! Get your tissues ready and pro

I was given an ARC of this wonderful book by the author, and all I can say is wow!!

Carina and Smiths story was evoking, and emotional, I was caught up from the very first page.
I found myself teary at one stage, the angst and romance all so well written.

I highly recommend this book to anyone who wanted a romantic read with a great story line.
AND it is a Navy SEAL book which is even better.

As an author Rachel inspires me.

5 stars definitely.
