As with all books in Nikolai Volkov series, I couldn’t put this one down as soon as I started it. It literally starts with a bang or, to be exact, a shot that kills an innocent driver who worked for a businessman, which had just hired Nikolai as a security consultant. Recommend this series to anyone who enjoys fast-paced, easy to read thrillers. The series also gives an interesting insight into everyday life in Russia, both before and after the break up of the Soviet Union.

ANOTHER GOOD BOOK ABOUT RUSSIA
I seem to have read a lot of books recently set in Russia and this author is my favourite one. An easy to read story about a bodyguard hired to protect one of the oligarchs but nothing is quite what it seems. Kept me engrossed to the end.

A very exciting, fast-paced story about Nikolai, a Russian bodyguard working in Moscow, who finds himself embroiled in the killing of his new boss’s driver and makes it his mission to find out who is behind it. Full of twists and turns, “In the Crosshairs” is a definite page turner and a very enjoyable thriller.

Julia Gousseva was born and raised in Russia when it was still a part of the Soviet Union, or USSR. For a long time, Russia was hidden behind the Iron Curtain and had a mysterious image of the Evil Empire to many Westerners, specifically Americans. But Russia was a mystery not just to outsiders, but to its own people as well. One of Julia's college history professors used to refer to Russia as a c ...more
