BROTHERS IN BLUE: MAX (Brothers in Blue #1) by Jeanne St. James is a HOT contemporary romance read that introduces the reader to a rich, immature party girl that has her whole life turned upside down and a small town cop, who is an ex-Marine and all Alpha.

Amanda Barber is a young, rich girl partying all over Miami with her friends and no responsibilities. Suddenly, she has to move to small town PA to live in her dead father and stepmother’s home to care

He isn't looking for long term and she has no idea what she's looking for. When Amanda leaves Miami this party girl has no idea how much her life is going to change. Can this small town cop with be what fate has in store for her.

I really liked watching Amanda grow as a person and loved that she came to the realization of where she belonged on her own. I also enjoyed watching Max constantly saying the wrong thing at the wrong time and then trying to dig his way out.

I liked the characters and where the story was going until about 55%. I don't want to spoil it for anyone, so I wouldn't go into detail, but at that point the way Max talks to Amanda is such a turn off that I couldn't connect to him throughout the rest of the book. Also, the way that Amanda allows it more than once turned me off on her too. Bummed, but I will not continue this series. Just not for me.

5 star review of Max (Brothers in Blue #1) by Jeanne St James

Audio Review

I love small town stories, throw in a totally hot and alpha cop and I am in heaven. Having read/listened to several books from Jeanne St James I was excited to dive in to what for me is a new series.

I was not disappointed. The narration from Ava Lucas and Jason Clark was spot on for these characters. I really loved the premise of this story. Spoilt rich girl Amanda Barber arrives in the small town o

Jeanne St. James did a great job on this book. The story was well written and had a great plot. Max and Amanda were great characters. I enjoyed their story. They were good for each other. The attraction is strong and their chemistry was off the charts sizzling. They were made for each other.
This was a great story. Max and Amanda were great together.
Thank you, Jeanne St. James. Great work :)

This is the first time I read Jeanne St. James book and I got it as a freebie from a giveaway. All I can say is that the author's really impressed me coz I fell in love with her book as soon as I read it. It's a good book to read with a hot scenes as a bonus. I love the characters especially the Bryson Brothers also I love their parents.

I was offered a free book from Jeanne St. James to read and give my honest opinion on. I absolutely loved this book from beginning to end. This was the first book that I have had the chance to read by Jeanne and I absolutely loved this very well written book. The character chemistry between Max and Mandy is off the charts hot.
Mandy returns to this small town after the death of her stepmother. She is there to take care of her halfbrother Greg. She is up against quite a battle when it comes to ta

A fun cop love story.

Max and Amanda are a sexy and fun couple. They’re stubborn and fiery and this book had a lot of steamy scenes. Amanda comes to Manning Grove after finding out about her half-brother, Greg. Greg is developmentally challenged and has lost both of his parents and Amanda is the only family he has. Greg’s mother wrote a will that left Amanda in charge of taking care of him since he would never be able to live on his own. Amanda is from Miami so she is not used to being in a smal

Amanda comes to town to take care of her brother who can’t live on his own after his mother dies. She is coming from a life of leisure a party girl who really don’t have any responsibilities.
She is really thrust into this new life with no safety net and I love how she just does what needs to be done.
She gets a lot of side eyes and people who don’t believe she can do it. I really didn’t like that part of the story especially coming from her love interest he says some underhanded things that mad

After listening to the DAMC books, I could not wait to delve into this new series to me! And all I can say is WOW! This story had me from the very first chapter. Amanda moves to Manning Grove after the death of her stepmother. She is taking over the care of her disabled brother, and is staying in Manning Grove to get things settled. Staying out of trouble seems to be her biggest problem, and Max, a town cop, is the one that seems to be her nemesis every time something goes wrong. Now that their ...more

Having read and LOVED all of this authors MC reads I was excited to read this story. It is much different from the MC world she has so wonderfully created but no less amazing. This story was so full of heart. It was realistic and brave. It was a truly amazing read.

Amanda Barber is taken away from her well known city life and plunged into the boring and annoying small town life where her half-brother becomes her responsibility. Having no experience in dealing with a special needs guy, she tries to do her best and she would if not for a meddling cop who constantly annoys her, a nosy and judgemental neighbour, her pestering mom and unrelenting ex. Brother in Blue: Max by Jeanne St. James is a great read. This is the first book in the Brothers in Blue series. This is the story of Max and Amanda. Max is ex-military and a police officer in his hometown. When Amanda was young her mother and father divorced and her father remarried. When her stepmother dies, Amanda comes to town to care for her special needs stepbrother who she has never met. Max is the oldest of three brothers who live in small town America. They have all served in the Marines and then came home to serve on the small town police department. Max is definitely an alpha male with a possessive streak. He's sexy and can make you want to fan yourself. Amanda is the big town rich party girl who reluctantly comes to Manning Grove to assume care of her mentally challenged half brother. You can tell Amanda has the right motivation but has a way to go to gain maturity after be ...more

I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.

This book is so good! ❣

This book is a bit different in that it deals with an older sister having to care for a special needs sibling with no training or experience. Amanda has been raised by her mother and never had the chance to get to know her father's second family. That is until she suddenly becomes Greg's only living relative. Going from a lavish lifestyle to a comfortable but focused one woul

Let me just say I love Jeanne St James’ books, they’re just amazing! She sucked me in with her Down & Dirty Series, then in between books got me hooked on her The Dare Ménage Series...and I’m not even a huge fan of ménage books, but I love hers! And now, while I’m waiting for Down & Dirty: Dawg to come out in September she hooks me with Brothers in Blue! Max and Amanda, oh my gosh, they are hilarious...and sweet and slightly crazy. And then you have her sweet brother and his over rambun ...more

I don't often read romance novels because of the ooey gooey nature, but when the sappy sweet romantic parts are preceded by sex scenes so hot I really shouldn't read them at work... my focus was elsewhere and my phone voice got husky. Mandy, at first, annoyed me, but I understood how she felt with her life being uprooted and flipped around, complete 360... but she grew up and into a loving sister. Life almost never works out the way we plan... and Ms. St. James wrote that change realistically. E ...more

This is a well written book with an interesting plot. The characters are strong, well developed and likable and the story moves quickly and smoothly. Sparks fly when Amanda and Max meet. Their instant attraction and hot chemistry is too strong to deny. Dealing with Max and learning to cope with her special needs brother and missing her pampered life in Miami ,Amanda feels she's in over her head. The author brings drama and tons of emotions and takes you on an emotional journey reading their story ...more

Amanda is a big city girl with no real direction in life. Max is a small town cop who is following the family tradition. When Amanda's step mother dies, she moves to small town Manning Grove to take care of her step brother, Greg, who has special needs. From the beginning she and Max get off on the wrong foot, although there is definitely some sizzle beneath the surface. I love the banter between the two and their chemistry is off the charts. The sex is hot! The supporting characters are great, ...more

This is a very enjoyable and entertaining read. An opposites attract, hate/love romance. This book focuses on Amanda and Max. These two are about as different as night and day. Amanda's a spoilt, rich, party loving, city girl. Max is a down to earth, controlled, dedicated, country boy, cop. The attraction between these two is strong but so is their dislike of each other. To me Amanda was a bit unlikable to start, but she grew on me as she was pushed out of her normal. It was inspiring and quite ...more

Okay, so the story line of this book was good. I will give it that. It’s a good story. I can imagine it being on Hallmark Channel. (Excluding the steamy scenes. Haha)

Anyways, character development was terrible. Certain scenes would happen where there was supposed to be more meaning behind and we never got that from the book. It was confusing to me too how Max pursues Amanda in the beginning and then all of a sudden he didn’t want a real relationship. All of that development and back story wasn’

I enjoyed reading this book but both Max and Amanda were indecisive 😂 Max didn’t want to do anything that would lead his mom to talk about him getting married and Amanda didn’t know if she wanted to go back to her old life or not. Sometimes I felt like Max was too harsh on Amanda about stuff. She was doing the best she could with having no experience caring for another person! Max was always there to help but if she was doing something he didn’t agree with he’d say som

This was a good story, female lead Amanda aka Manda is strong willed, beautiful, trying her best to take care of her brother and she loves giving a certain handsome uniformed cop a hard time. Max is the male lead, he comes from a family of policemen, and when Amanda goes a few verbal rounds over a parking ticket...his entire body comes back to life. Max is older than Amanda, he has two younger brothers and their mother wants all three Bryson boys to get married and make lots of gran
