I don't know whether this book might be helpful. It looks like that the authors of the articles in this book are like physicist or chart analysts: they are trying to infer certain laws on the basis of things that happened in the past. With these "laws" they are trying to control future projects - and this doesn't seem to work if you aren't working on really, really big projects (read: projects that aren't that dynamic).
