Closer to a 3.5, Patten is one of my favorite writers and never read a bad one. However this was a lesser one in my opinion, it's written well., just a tad slow for a good part of the book. It does end well and the last 25 or so pages are pure Patten greatness. A gunfighter comes back to town that he left years ago, he hates the town because of a bad upbringing. He wants revenge by wrecking the whole town, his father, his wife he deserted years before, and especially the young deputy who is daring his wife now. Though it turns out to be tougher than he expected.

Can't really recommend unless you are a Patten lover like me. It is a tad slow though again if you get by that then you will enjoy it.

I found the first half of the book to be a slog to get through. At about the halfway point the book picked up steam and finished well.

I would recommend this book...if you can get through the beginning.
