More like 3.75 stars...
Hmm... Okay, this book was shorter in length than the first book in the series, and because of that reason, the same narrating-while-high thing started happening after about 60% of the story. This one has been written much better than the first, and it went a long way in keeping me hooked with the plot. I don't have a headache, which I guess says it all about how much better this one is.

Of all the stories that I have read on MM this is very emotional and rewarding.. They are committed and want to make each other happy even with a few sacrifices. In my family we have both gays and Lesbian, and bi.. and I know they would never pressure their love one to come out. until their ready.
It was very beautiful to read. I would love to read more if this is how H J Perry writes. I was given this story by lightpress for a honest review.

This was a good, light read, kind of story. It is a companion almost to Home Goal. They run on similar timelines but are about two different couples.
This story is a bit lighter than Home Goal. Less drama and fighting while completely keeping their relationship a secret and dealing with the homophobia that comes with sports.

This was a very entertaining and enjoyable read about Carlos and Harry who both play in the Premiership League for The Birmingham City South football team.
Carlos, a recent megastar transfer, falls hard for the quiet and introverted Harry. Harry is so far in the closet, and so afraid to come out...afraid his religious family will reject him, as well as his team and the fans. After all, at the start of this story, there are no openly gay football players in a worldwide league of 500,000!

3.5* I really liked this book! The 2 MCS are SUPERCUTE and they are totally in love with each other!! Also is superslow burn !
I was a bit sad that (view spoiler) but the book is realistic in that aspect. SADLY this is not change at all nowadays.
I need to comment as a spanish myself that the author abused from the spanish cliches... They are everywhereee and the ONLY sentence in Spanish is totally WRONG! ;_; I don´t think it could be so difficult to f ...more

I loved Carlos and Harry.
H J Perry’s writing keeps getting better and better. My Goal was a book that really touched me. I especially loved the Dear Reader note at the end of the book where Ms. Perry explains in more detail some of the things behind the story. My Goal is connected to her earlier book, Home Goal, but stands alone with no problem at all.
I really don’t know much about sports, especially Football (known as Soccer in the U.S.), but that doesn’t matter because this story is really abo ...more

This is a really good story.
It is a standalone but it is connected to "Home goal" and it is easier to have a full view on the whole situation when You read both books.
This is a love story between two football players, one bisexual and the other deeply closeted. They are total opposites - Carlos is loud, confident and always tries to attract attention, while Harry is a quiet, insecure, shy, virgin who seems more than ...more

Nah.

2.5 stars rounded down.
Warning - might have some "spoilers."
My "problem" with this story is that it's just so rushed. Like we meet Carlos and Harry and Harry is super worried about a thing that happened years ago that Carlos does not even remember. And as the story/book continues, it feels like the author sorta forgot about it too - because eventually when it's talked about - it feels like such an afterthought. I wish there were more details on their friendship and how it'd become deep so if an ...more

Definite improvement over book one in this series
The pacing of this one is better than the first book in the series but, for me, it still feels a little immature.
Now by that I mean that the story is a lot on the surface, with lots of telling rather than showing and the language used has a certain naivety to it which makes it feel lacking in depth.
We're told Carlos and Harry are in love and even though the story is written in alternative POV, we don't really get to see much of the inner emotions ...more

'My Goal' is a sweet friends-to-lovers romance between two sexy athletes. Very slow burn, but a hot fire when you get there. It deals with public attitudes toward gay athletes and coming out or feeling like they have to stay closeted. Once I got into it, I enjoyed the story. Another good read by H. J. Perry. I was given an ARC in exchange for my honest opinion and review.

Piers Ryman is probably one of my favorite audiobook narrators. There’s something about his voice that just gets in my bones, puts my in my zen place, and then enchants me as he weaves through the story. He utilized various accents, different regions for each of the characters, even the secondary characters, which brought them to to life.
On to the story part of the review!
I’m a sucker for the friends to lovers trope, stick that together with a sports romance? I am all about it. I don’t know much ...more

Enjoyable love stories.

Have read both of the stories in this series and have enjoyed how the love between the couples evolved. There is also a realistic view of anti gay sentiment in each of the books. Ms Perry's letter at the end of book 2, was very heart felt and dealt with homophobia in football, which, unfortunately, is all too real. I liked the way in which the couples finally got together and was satisfied with their HEAs. The stories were different in that they de ...more

This second book in HJ Perry’s football romance series follows quiet achiever, Harry, and his loud and cocky teammate, Carlos. We were introduced to Harry in book 1, but it wasn’t clear he was gay. Carlos actively pursues a reluctant Harry, slowly breaking down his reserve through genuine friendship. Once again, we see the pressures on elite footballers to stay in the closet, although this was a very pleasant, low-angst story. Book 1 had fire in the belly about homophobia in elite team sports, I

Very heartwarming and moving story of two football players. One who has a history of great plays in several leagues, the other who is great where he is. The star falls for the other player and the story surrounds how they make their lives together and join with friends as they become a family including children. This really does include a lot of very hot and steamy sexual experiences between these two characters as they grow and develop in their relationship.

They just keep getting better. The ending was perfect. I've seen the changes in not only a legal stand point but in people as well. We aren't there every where but I'm hoping that we will be for my children and grand children. Sports and military seem to be ever harder than religion for it to happen. Thank you for author's willing to get the word out.

WOW, this book was exceptionally sweet! Completely different from the first one, as are the men it is about, but a great book in its own right.
Besotted Carlos is just too cute for words, and I loved seeing how Harry, at first uncertain, grew into himself when he decided what he has with Carlos is worth exploring.

A sweet romance set against a soccer background. The fears of one MC were real, being based in religion. The other MC was simply determined, and thank heavens for that! Not much angst - this is a slowly developing romance with its progression taking play over quite a few months.
Narrated by Piers Ryman - 4 stars.

I really loved Harry & Carlos' story. Harry is a gay professional football player. He's terrified of anyone discovering his secret & therefore leads a very quiet life. Once Carlos joins the team they become friends. Harry struggles with the fact that Carlos the superstar would be interested in even being friends with quiet, unassuming Harry.

Footballers Carlos and Harry have so many more obstacles to plow through than your average couple. Both play for the same team when they meet, however Harry is deeply closeted and Carlos has previously thought himself straight. A mountain of fears from religious convictions to what teammates would do if they knew (lots of gay bashing in the locker room) has Harry keeping Carlos at arms length for months, then it looks like Harry is going to be transferred to another team. How can the make it wor

OK. So I really loved the story. It was great to see Harry again, and see him get his story after seeing him in Jason and Scott's book. There was total adoration between Carlos and Harry, and they were 100% into each other and their relationship. Being in football, however, there were challenges, and they stayed in the closet. I thought it was a bit weird that Harry kept his sexuality and relationship so quiet with Scott and Jason (being that they were best friends), but I get that not everyone
