Buying Love was an enjoyable and sweet modern-day marriage of convenience story. After years of dreaming of having a family of her own, but yet still single, Nina Warrenton decides to post an ad in the the paper for... A husband!
Lol! Honey... As you can imagine things have the potential of getting pretty crazy! But she never expected to find a handsome and smart small-town Chef to answer the ad.

Dwight Williams is a co-owner with his mother and sister of small-town restaurant, The Maple Pit. But

Buying Love is a sweet contemporary Christian romance.

Desperate to get married and start a family before she grew too old, orphaned Nina put an add in the newspaper advertising for a husband and stating that she brings money to the arrangement. Dwight decided to meet the mysterious woman behind the add, mostly because he wants to save his family’s restaurant from going bankrupt.

I really enjoyed Buying Love. It was truly a sweet story, and it reminded me very much of a Hallmark movie. One of th

I have one word to start out with – Dwight. Another word – yummy. And I’m not JUST talking about the delicious mouth-watering recipes he cooks up at his family’s restaurant The Maple Pit. Dwight himself is quite the swoonworthy hero. Not just because he looks like Laz Alonso but because he’s a man of solid character and a kind heart.

Dwight’s mama and I had a few words during the course of this novel though! lol.

Nina is a great character! A little bit sassy, a little bit sweet – I enjoyed getting

I couldn't put this modern marriage of convenience down so I read it in one sitting! I especially enjoyed the way the two main characters' lives contrast yet compliment. City versus country living, a life of virtual solitude compared to a community of friends and family, opposites often attract yet this story delves deeper into the issue of love as a choice, action, and commitment. This is a great little storyline with interesting and authentic characters. ...more

Loved it! Loved the characters, the chemistry between Dwight and Nina, and the premise of the story. My heart went out to Nina. This one really touched my heart.
I was provided a copy of this book, but as always, my opinions are my own.

What a sweet story! Great premise. That's what hooked me in the summary. It didn't disappoint either. I enjoyed discovering how Ms. Shiloh set up this odd situation for the characters, then watching her resolve it. Both characters were enjoyable and their romance tender yet unique. I recommend this story for anyone looking for a read with a fun romance and a solid spiritual message. ...more

Contemporary marriage-of-convenience/arranged marriage stories aren’t all that common, so they immediately spark my interest simply because I’m curious to know how the writer will handle it. In particular, will it be believable? Well, this was believable and more.

Mind you, Nina’s approach to finding a husband isn’t really all that strange in this era of internet dating sites and reality ‘meet-at-the-altar’ wedding shows. I normally avoid those types of shows at all costs, but thankfully, this bo

Buying Love (Maple Run #1) by Toni Shiloh.

This book tickled my funny bone. Ms. Shiloh has crafted a wonderful town of Maple Run, Northern Virginia about an hour commute from D.C. This story, from the perspective of a self-made woman who advertises for a husband, is downright adorable. A very different marriage of convenience story.

Nina Warrenton is very precise and analytical in her job as a CPA. Chef, Dwight Williamsis a dutiful son trying to keep the legacy of his family restaurant, the Mapl

A contemporary romance with a modern-day marriage of convenience angle that really works.

I wasn't sure about Nina at first...a goal-oriented list-checker determined to trust her future happiness to logic and facts rather than heart and soul. Seriously, advertising for a husband including the enticement of a dowry? Swoony in a Regency perhaps, but how would it work with a 21st century heroine? I experienced a few Nervous Nelly Reader twinges at the beginning of the story but then Dwight walked in

While Buying Love ostensibly is a marriage of convenience romance, it actually isn't. Yes, it starts out that way, as Nina seeks to basically buy a husband. (She offers a substantial "dowry," payable after the wedding.) But the novel is actually about Nina and Dwight (the "chosen applicant" from her ad) getting to know each other and deciding if they want to get married. So while the circumstances of the couple's meeting are different than normal, at its heart it's a classic boy-meets-girl kind ...more

I LOVED this book! The characters were lovable, relatable, and so much fun to watch as they grew and fell in love. The writing was strong, the story well-paced, and the diversity of the characters was totally refreshing!

I highly recommend this book, and can't wait for the next one! ❤

Buying Love by Toni Shiloh is a contemporary Christian romance and the first book in the Maple Run series. It was a most delightful read.
The book concentrates on the twin themes of family and belonging. We all want someone to love us. Family does not have to be the traditional nuclear family, family is the people who know us and love us. For those who know God, family is the family of God and we are all loved by Him.
Searching to belong can be a powerful motivating force. We need to hand the driv

Nina is a very smart, pretty and wealthy woman. But she is missing something in her life. She is over thirty and feels her biological clock ticking. She is anxious to be married and have a family. Nina has never known what it is like to have a family. Have you ever felt lost and longed for a family? For Nina that pain has been with her since birth. Will she ever find true love? The author shows us how vulnerable she is at times and that her past has left a scar on her heart. I really like her ch ...more

What if marriage was approached like a business proposition? It sounds like a notion from a couple of centuries ago, but successful Washington DC accountant Nina Warrenton is determined to make it work in the present day. What she hasn’t planned on is the instant connection she feels for Dwight, her prospective partner in the marriage business. Only time will tell if that connection will help or hinder her plan.

I enjoyed this story of haves and have nots. Of family relationships, of misunderstandings and forgiveness. I was happy that though the heroine, Nina went about her search for a family in a unconventional way, things worked out for her. And Dwight was a great hero. I am drawn to the less fortunate, whether it is lack of finances, lack of family or a home. I know that emotions and relationships are the same, no matter the circumstances, situations or country one finds themselves in, it is a refle ...more

"Buying Love" by Toni Shiloh (Maple Run Novel book 1)

I previously read a short story by Toni Shiloh that I loved. It was funny, sweet, engaging and truly enjoyable. While this novella is based on a different male/female concept, it was just as enjoyable, sweet, funny, and enjoyable.

When Nina puts an ad in the paper seeking a husband, she does so in order to meet her next life goal: to get married and have children. She is aware that she may not have true love in her marri

`Buying Love` is a Contemporary Christian novel written by author Toni Shiloh. Toni Shiloh is a wife, mom, and Christian fiction writer.

The female protagonist in this ebook wanted to be married and have a child before she turned thirty-five. So she made an online questionnaire and began interviewing men to find her husband. Although her way was unconventional she believed God would guide her. Nina had grown up in an orphanage and aged out. She mentored a young lady who was also coming of age.

This was okay. I had a hard time relating to the heroine Nina at first. But as soon as I met the hero Dwight, I was rooting for him. And when he began to fall for Nina, of course, I had to root for them to fall in love. I loved how we see Nina grow and learn some things.

I loved the theme of families, both physical and spiritual. But I didn't like Dwight's family. It was a weird mix of misunderstandings that didn't quite feel real to me. But the secondary characters were almost all well done. I

This is a modern take on mail order weddings. Nina was ready to get married, so she puts out an ad for a husband and offers a dowery. (Unlike previous pioneer brides, this one involved background checks and meetings first). Dwight wants to save his parent's legacy - their family restaurant. He contacts Nina, then requests a trial period to see if their relationship will work out. But what happens when love enters the picture - how can reassure that the money is no longer the driving force?

Buying Love is totally my kind of romance! Sweet, clean, fun, heart-warming, and full of "feel-good" moments. I was pulling for the heroine, Nina, right from the start; and the hero, Dwight was irresistible! The premise of the book is original, so I liked that it was unique from other romance novels I've read. I also loved how Ms. Shiloh included Scripture references throughout the book, as well as illustrated the characters' reliance on their faith. If you need to escape into a heartwarming rom ...more

My first Toni Shiloh book and it certainly won’t be the last.

It took me a little bit to get going (my fault, not Toni’s), but once I had time to dedicate to really reading, I couldn’t put it down. Nina is a lovely, quirky character. She starts out a bit standoffish and hesitant, but you quickly realize she has a tremendously warm heart that longs to love and be loved. Dwight just wants to do right by everyone he cares for and walk in God’s will. I love how he constantly checks his feelings and a

Love is the answer

Just read the first two books of the Maple Run series. Absolutely loved them. I appreciated how the characters came to the realization of God's unfailing love. Love is the answer and God loves each one of us unconditionally. That is first and foremost the most important thing for each of us to realize. I fell in love with the characters, especially Dwight, Nina, Luke, Delaney, Kandi, Nikki, and Micah. I couldn't put the books down as I read the heartfelt stories of these charac

Nina taking things into her own hands and advertises for a husband. So far, none of them would do. One guy is late, so maybe God was saying this wasn’t the one either. She wanted to meet her next life goal of having a family by the time she was thirty five. Not believing in the theory of falling in love, decided to do it this way. He laugh when he seen the ad, but the thought stayed with him. A dowry to save a family business. Would he relocate, the commute would wreak havoc on his patience. Cou ...more

Toni Shiloh is fantastic. "Buying Love," her first book in the Maple Run series, was beyond any expectation I could have had. First, there is the concept: A woman who has everything but the family she has always wanted and no idea about developing a relationship in the 'traditional' way. Nina puts out an ad seeking a husband and offering to pay for the opportunity. Dwight sees the opportunity and decides to give it a try in hopes of saving his father's business. Is it possible that the two will ...more

I was pondering a 3-star review since the story was a 4 but the lack of editing was more of a 2, but I decided to focus on the story's heart rather than the text on the page. This was a sweet, unusual take on the "boy meets girl" story, which was very refreshing for me, and the storyline was interesting overall. With a few exceptions, the characters were real, and I loved the dynamic Nina found with both Nikki and Kandi. At times, the editing and word choice took away from the story, but not to ...more
