Why the Rosary, Why Now?

Rate this book
Using the eloquent and inspiring writings of holy men and women who share a love of, and commitment to, the Marian prayer, Editor Gretchen R. Crowe makes a compelling case for why praying the Rosary is more critical in today's 21st-century world than ever before. This is not a typical "how-to book" about the Rosary. This is the "why-to book" that will inspire you to reach for your Rosary more often, and in doing so to receive the gifts it offers to each of us and the world.

I have loved the rosary for many years which is why I put off reading this book for so long. I thought “yeah, I get it, pray the rosary. I do!” But Gretchen goes through so many reasons why we should pray the rosary. During this time especially in the church we need our mother. We need this amazing prayer to keep us on track in our faith when the world is pulling us in a million different directions, when the news is telling us the church is irrelevant and even dangerous. As she quotes St. Louis de Montfort in the final excerpt “For never will anyone who says his rosary every day be a formal heretic or be led astray by the devil. This is a statement I would sign with my blood.” Let it be true!!

While it was a relatively small book, it was full of information. Some of that information was from recent times and some from much longer ago. Too many Catholics don't take the time to pray the Rosary, which is a shame because it doesn't take long and the spiritual benefits are vast. This book does a good job of telling the reader about those benefits.

Just what I wanted, a focus on the "why" of this practice that has so endured.
