She needs a fresh start somewhere else.

Piper Greenlee is desperate to get out of Sugar Hollow. After her ex-husband’s notorious scandal and their subsequent divorce, her life and reputation are in tatters. Not to mention the disturbing feelings she’s started to have for a longtime friend recently. She’s ready to leave all that behind, start over somewhere far away and reinvent herself.

But the past isn’t done with her yet. When it lands on her doorstep this time, the consequences could prove fatal. She has no choice but to turn to the one man in town she knows can protect her…the man she’s not ready to face her true feelings for.

He’ll fight to convince her she’s already home.

DEA FAST agent Easton Colebrook has loved Piper for years and been forced to stay silent. It killed him to stand back and watch her marry the wrong man, but now that her divorce has been finalized and she’s had time to heal, he’s making his move. The problem is, she’s determined to see him only as a friend, and worse—Wyatt’s little brother.

When he arrives home after another rotation in Afghanistan, Easton is ready to put his plan into action. Then he learns that Piper is planning to move halfway across the country, forcing him to act immediately. Before he can tell her how he feels, her ex drags her into a potentially lethal situation. Easton steps in, vowing to protect her at all costs. But in order to finally claim the woman who’s owned his heart for as long as he can remember, he and Piper will have to outsmart a deadly enemy hell bent on exacting his revenge.

This is a hard review to write, particularly because I’ve been following Kaylea Cross for a long time. Questioning the level of my boredom and the quality of writing with her recent offerings hence, were never things I thought I’d be doing. First off, the good: there’s action and there’re bodice-ripping equivalent scenes that well, abound. Even then, I found myself skimming those because I swear I've come across similar scenes somewhere in her other stories.

Going into Cross’s latest novella however, only solidified the feeling of how much I loved her previous books (Titanium and Bagram), because those had more sensitive writing and characters—particularly her male protagonists—carved from more nuanced and tender subtlety than sliced and turned out from the latest mass-produced tray of tacky hero-offerings.

Easton Colebrook fits the latter to a T: a cookie-cutter romantic lead that could be transplanted and shifted around from Cross’s recent books to be the stand-in hero for any of those indistinguishably. Military trained, works with an elite fighting force, indulges in flings then backtracks and says only the woman he’s meant to be with matters most (with such wonderful, tested and tried commitment levels clearly) and suddenly develops Neanderthal traits such as wanting to ‘claim’ her and ‘make her his’ where she’s concerned because she’s the only one that he’ll commit to. I cringed my way through these phrases in the previous book and several others before that; I cringed even more here, unconvinced that these suggest the heroine is special and thus commitment-worthy. That the compromise and sacrifice Piper Greenlee has to make to be with him while he happily stays with the job he loves piled on the doubts.

Admittedly, tackling friendship to love, or in this case, unrequited love, is a challenging one. How an author tackles the awkwardness in the shift, while providing a believable explanation for sexual attraction that suddenly develops when there was none when they were friends, or even how the characters’ history together add to the value of them being together are essentials for me. For now, whether this book satisfies these croteria is still an internal debate that’s raging on in my head.

Diehard Cross fans will adore this, of course. But the long and short of it, I hate to say I’m disappointed but will likely stay this way until Cross rediscovers the classier style and characters of the books I loved.

I'm a sucker for friends to lovers so I enjoyed EASTON'S CLAIM which also concludes the COLEBROOK SIBLINGS trilogy. Piper has long been a friend of the Colebrook family and she even went to her high school prom with Wyatt. But it's only been recently that she's had changing feelings toward Easton and it throws her at first. Especially when Easton lays it all out and makes it clear that he wants forever with Piper. I love a hero who isn't afraid of his feelings and goes all in and this is definitely Easton. He's also a natural protector and an alpha male but he's not afraid to be vulnerable with Piper. As for Piper, she's unsure at first but her attraction to Easton can't be denied and even though she's planning to move away she knows what she feels for Easton is real and special. The chemistry between Easton and Piper was undeniable and very hot!

In addition to the romance, there's also a great suspenseful plot line around Piper's ex-husband. Once this book reached the 60% mark it really ramped up and the ending was fast paced and action packed. I'm especially interested in getting the only Colebrook sister's story and Charlie starts off the next series, DEA FAST.

An enjoyable conclusion to this trilogy. The story kept me engaged from beginning to end and especially through those last five or so chapters when the suspense element and action really kicked in. Both main characters were also really likable and they worked well as a couple. The relationship itself was well paced within the story considering how much Piper had suffered at the hands of her ex husband Greg and how close she is to the entire Colebrook Family.

I also noticed the sparks between Easton's teammate Jamie and sister Charlie (especially during that last chapter) who were both introduced during this story and I'm hoping that means a new series, possibly based around the DEA Fast Team Easton is on, is in the works, and if that's the case I will definitely be reading it. As for this one I did enjoy it and would happily recommend it, especially if you've enjoyed the previous two stories and are a fan of the author.

Well I succumbed to the sample in Wyatt's Stand and bought this one but again, the storyline was ery similar and very predictable and very insta everything so I don't love these ones.

I am tempted to find out about his sister Charlie but really, I think I know how this will go and it will be insta again.

I do think that Cross' writing is good though. There are aspects that I really enjoy and I have loved some of her books, just not this series, sadly.

The One For Me!!!

Easton Colebrook, DEA FAST agent has always been in love with his brother's ex, Piper Greenlee. He never said anything for years, he stood on the sideline and watched her marry the wrong man.

Now she was single and he wasn't about to keep quiet any longer. He had a plan, woo the woman of his dreams but all that changed when he learned she was leaving town.

Piper Greenlee dated Wyatt Colebrook (we met him in the previous books) in high school, they broke up and remained friends. She married a man she thought she loved, her married life wasn't a great one.

She became an honorary Colebrook, the love she had for Wyatt's family was pure/beautiful and they felt the same way about her. After her divorce from her ex-husband, things were never the same for her in Sugar Hollow.

We got a glimpse of the change in Piper's feelings towards Easton at the end of the previous book (WYATT'S STAND). Piper started to develop feelings for the youngest of the Colebrook boys and her friend, Easton. Those feelings scared her to the point that it felt like she couldn't stay in the same town as him.

Mind made up Piper was getting ready to say goodbye to the place she'd called home for over nearly two decades when her ex-husband showed up at her house in a desperate state. His life was in danger because of his past deeds.

As danger lurked around her, Piper turned to the one man she knew would protect her, come what may. Easton wasn't taking any changes when he learned that Piper was in danger. He, his family along with one of his teammates fron his DEA FAST squad, Jamie helped in keeping Piper safe.

Oh my!...the chemistry between Jamie and Charlie was off the charts (can't wait for their story) ;).

I love the bond between the Colebrooks and their strength, the siblings may not always agree with each other but when push come to shove....they will always have each other's backs.

EASTON'S CLAIM is the last installment in Kaylea Cross' COLEBROOK SIBLINGS TRILOGY . It was exhilarating, humorous, steamy, emotional and a must read. Kaylea Cross had me glued to my seat with this baby, she captured the beauty of Easton and Piper's feelings.

Looking forward to Kaylea Cross' upcoming new series, DEA FAST!

Good book except the end. If a woman has to give up her dream for a man then he's not as considerate as he seems since he gets his dream job while the female doesn't. If it's a choice between her dream job or her man, Dream job 1st. No man is worth more than their dreams, so Piper just found another Greg. While not into illegals but into dangerous jobs that could get him killed & while he says he seem to care, he doesn't as he keeps doing it without a care of the woman he is supposed to care for.

Piper had a pretty rough marriage and we find out a bit more of that in this. Easton showed his hand a little at the end of Wyatt's story but we get the background to his attraction to Piper. Friends to lovers can be tricky especially when one is as close to the others family as Piper is to Easton's, they have years and history as well as a brief spell dating one of his older brothers. Complex but interesting plot, it held my focus and had me invested in the outcome, there was action and exciting suspense and I thoroughly enjoyed it. Only down I had was that I'd have liked a little bit on the horses being rounded up safely and maybe a bit about a barn raising for them just to complete loose ends, I had visions of them on roads or getting hurt. But that's me, its rare I don't find something left to question. This was emotional, but a powerhouse of a read.

HOT DEA agent goes after his woman!

Easton has been in love with Piper for years! Watching her marry another man left him thinking he would never have her, until he comes home and she is finally separated from her husband. He puts together a plan to win her:) Piper has had her hopes and dreams destroyed by a man who promised to love and honour her. She is now finally ready to move forward so she is selling her home and hopes to make a new life in a new place with a new job. Things don't go according to plan as her ex shows up and everything goes downhill. Easton is by her side through all of it protecting her and reveals his feelings for her. We finally get an HEA and a fantastic epilogue. Hopefully we get a story for Charlie!!

It's a great trilogy

WOW you're gonna love these three hot, sexy Marines. Each book is full of romance, packed with action and hot sex that will make your heart race. Easton is the wild, youngest brother. He has been in love with Piper for years. Piper is an honorary member of the family and thinks of Easton as a little brother. When her life is threatened, it's up to the Colebrook's to save her. Will Piper change the way she looks at Easton? This trilogy will leave you begging for more.

Great!

Will be finally get his girl? Eaton Colebrook has crushed on her since he was a teenager. She dated his older brother Wyatt briefly, then married a jerk, now she finally is free...but things won't be easy...She has decided to move. This lethal DEA will never give up on what he wants.

Piper, needs a fresh start. Her new feelings for the younger Colebrook are just too silly to even stand a chance. Her ex is in trouble and has now put her in danger.

A great edge of your seat romance and suspense story.

Now, I can't wait to read Charlie and Piper's story.

Another winner from the Cross stable

I don't know how Ms Cross does it but another fab story of the Colebrooks. No spoilers so you get the gist, action, intrigue, passion, family and having each other's backs. Great read, sad it's over.

Easton is part of the DEA fast team so love to read his story. We met Piper in Wyatt's story and you like her even more when you learn her story. The best line is when Gunny says it's about time. Loved the little ankle bracelet

Awesome

The Colebrook family is amazing. They love each other, they argue with each other, but they don't hold grudges, and they have each other's backs.
Easton has been in love with Piper for a long time, but she had looked at him as a little brother since she is six years older than him and she dated his older brother, Wyatt, for a short time. Now, she's older, wiser, and untrusting of her own heart. Her marriage to Greg is over and the papers have been signed, and Easton's not letting her go this time. He has to convince her that the six year age difference doesn't matter and that he has loved her forever. Her ex is back in the picture, this time because of stupid decisions he has made and her life is in danger. Easton and his family can protect Piper and she knows that they will. They only question that remains is, will she trust him with her heart?

Kaylea Cross - Easton’s Claim - (Colebrook Siblings Trilogy Book 3)

The final book in the Trilogy focuses on Easton Colebrook the youngest of the brothers and Piper Greenlee. We have met both characters in previous installments and learn that Piper Greenlee is considered part of the family. Her father was friends with Piper’s father and after his death, Mr. Colebrook stood in his place. She spent all the holidays with them and when she and Wyatt were in high school they dated for a short time, but no a physical relation.

Easton is six (6) years younger than Piper, but he has been in love with her “forever”. When she got married, it killed him to watch her walk down the aisle and commit herself to Greg. Piper was now divorced and believes she needs a fresh start far away from Sugar Hollow, in fact she is moving to Minnesota. She believes she must leave the area and get away from the horrible scandal and her ruined reputation that Greg has caused. Greg is now the ex-sheriff, a drug and alcoholic addicted. Piper will soon find out that Greg sold drugs for a lethal bunch of criminals. Now the criminal was out of prison and going after Greg because he had stolen some very valuable things while he was in prison and he wants them back.

On Easton’s last visit 4 months ago he decided on his next trip home he would let Piper know how he feels. When he finds out she was moving half way across the country, he had 1 week leave to win her over before she moved. But Piper’s ex-husband, Greg’s past came after him and to get his cooperation they decided to use Piper to motive him. Easton will do whatever it takes to keep her safe and keep her forever.

This is a great installment that you will want to read in one setting because it is so hot and steamy mixed with a lot of heart stopping action.

ladies remember, men come and go but dream jobs last forever

The author did a great job making me believe that Easton really loved Piper. I loved the family connection in all the books with this series. Enjoyed the suspense part of the story.

I can understand Easton was upset with the fact Piper was leaving town to start over with her dream job but constantly telling her to give up HER job and never consider HIS job was disgusting. At least have the conversation about it. The biggest problem with his job is that he is never home so why should she move and give up her career just to sit at home alone. Especially when Piper made a comment about how alone she was currently feeling (the baking and yoga).

Thought the ages between the H (30) and h (36) was refreshing but how it was addressed at times was upsetting because I don't see anything wrong with it and its a much healthier relationship than to have a 36 yo male dating a 24 yo female - what I've read too many times. I can understand it being brought up once but the cougar reference was stupid. I did think when Piper was looking at her body in the mirror wondering why Easton wants her versus his usual type was honest and it wasn't done to make you think Piper had low self-esteem. I wish that was the only age reference.

Overall, the dislikes were minor to my overall enjoyment of the story. It just could have been 5 stars but I'd still read again.

The third and final book in the Colebrook Siblings series was a solid read. I happen to love the friends to lovers troupe.

Easton has loved Piper - six years his senior - since he was a scrawny teenager. She just didn't see him the same way as he saw her. He stood by her as she married another man and his heart broke for her as her husband spiraled and left their marriage in shambles. Although he would hate to admit that he also saw it as a blessing and he aimed to make her his.

Piper was still reeling from a shoddy marriage and was determined to move to another state and get a fresh start. Being part of the gossip mill was only part of the reason. She'd recently begun to see Easton in another light. She found herself attracted to him. She didn't know that he felt the same way.

When Piper's ex-husband was kidnapped and she inadvertently found herself in harm's way, Easton vowed to never leave her side until the threat was eliminated. The close quarters forced Easton to tell Piper how he felt. Now what? Will Piper still leave the state or will she decide that she can't live without Easton?

Loved it!

3.5 Stars - Easton’s Claim is an adult romantic suspense thriller by Kaylea Cross and the 3rd book in her Colebrook Siblings trilogy.

Once again, this was a well-written, sexy story that leaned more toward romance than suspense. There was a bit of action and some dangerous elements, but overall it didn’t have the same sense of suspense that the author’s Hostage Rescue Team series or Titanium Security series had. With that said, the storyline was engaging and both Easton and Piper were likeable characters. I look forward to reading more about Charlie Colebrook and Special Agent Jamie Rodriguez in the author’s new DEA FAST series!

Caring Colebrooks

What a way to end a trilogy. This was a great "Mini-series". Like most, I have fallen in love with the Colebrooks. All three of the brothers are like their father, strong, determined and protective. Easton is the most steadfast. Not all families would welcome others so warmly.
Not sure who we may catch glimpses of in the coming new series, but I can't wait to find out.

Excellent

I love Easton and Piper's story! I really enjoyed the way her ex husband played a roll in this book. I loved Piper when she dropped off the dog for Wyatt and grew to like her and want her to have a great life as she evolved in the other books. Easton well he is just lovable. So if you want a good suspenseful love story this is a great one. You can read it alone but I loved every book in the series so why would you want to.
