Another excellent novella from Schnitzler, although it doesn't quite reach the heights of the later Dream Story. It's also suffused with sexual longing and has shades of Mann's Death in Venice, which was published around the same time, just before WWI.

Arthur Schnitzler was an Austrian author and dramatist.
