Size is just a matter of perspective in this charming story about a little lion who is much, much smaller than the rest. The other animals laugh at him and tell him that real lions are so very big, they can touch the moon with a paw. When a friendly raven discovers the little lion atop a hill, sadly gazing at the moon, the wise bird tells him that to touch the moon, he mus ...more

It was okay! Reminded me of some other children's books I'd prefer to read if tackling the idea of being different or learning at your own pace such as Leo the Late Bloomer.

Being little doesn't mean you can't reach for the stars. When Little Lion is made fun comes up with a way of fooling the animals into thinking he can touch the moon.

This is a very sweet picture book. Little lion endures bullying from the other animals and only the crow is able to help him and show him that he can reach for the moon. Recommended.

Teasing; illustrations seem fuzzy - perhaps enlarged from original print?

In this picture book originally published in Germany, a diminutive lion endures constant teasing from some of the other animals. After hearing negative comments from the leopard, the hippopotamus, and the crocodile, the poor thing is feeling exceedingly miserable indeed. When a raven befriends the lion, he tricks the other animals in thinking that the young lion can touch the moon when it appears in the sky the next evening. Since it is low enough in the heavens for the lion to stretch up on a h ...more

Little Lion is a very little lion indeed. Because of this the leopard, hippopotamus, and crocodile laugh and tease him about his size and his potential for success. He'll never touch the moon. However, with the raven's help, he finds a way to "touch the moon" using the magic of perspective. Originally published in Germany, this English translation is not exceptional. the illustrations are fun and expressive, but the attitude of the other animals goes beyond teasing to pure meanness, and the solu ...more

Picture book for PK-2. I love the illustrations, Lion is precious. Could be used with lessons about belonging, animals, bullies, courage, self-esteem, and confidence. I also like that the publisher offers a free online educator's guide featuring classroom activities.

Poor Little Lion is teased by the bigger animals about his size. Then Raven tells him he could touch the moon if he practices every night at the top of the hill. Then Raven tells the other animals to meet at the bottom of the hill. When they see Little Lion touching the moon, they cheer and congratulate him on his huge accomplishment!
