A new church is being built…

Although quite beautiful, it does not sit well with older members of the community, whoare all members of the Church of England.

The pastor, Tristan King, insists on calling the lord, ‘my father’ and preaches not from an altar, but on a dais with a golden throne to his followers, the brothers of the Ark of the Covenant .

I received ARC from netgalley.com in exchange for a review.

This is the second book in the Mrs. Stonier mystery series. Mrs. Stonier seems to fall into unsolved murders and must use her sleuthing skills to solve the mysteries.

This book didn't keep my interest like the first book. The book has several typo and editing errors which was distracting. Overall, I feel the book didn't need to be so lengthy. The mystery isn't revealed until the last few pages, it just dragged on and on.

In 1890, a new church is being erected in Stoke Newington, headed by a charismatic preacher named Tristan King whose congregation is at odds with the C of E teachings. Despite the disapproval of many of the townspeople, King's church manages to attract a following, including a young woman desperate to escape her controlling half-brother.

In the present day, Alex's daughter just bought a new house, and Alex offers to help with the renovations. When

I'm not sure what I was expecting from this book. The blurb sounded interesting but I found the book rather tame. The story is told from two different times. One is the story of the newly built church in the late 19th century and the second from the present day when Alex finds some papers relating to the church in her daughter's new house.

There were a lot of characters in the story from the past which I found quite confusing. Although I liked the way Alex investigated through studyin

When Alex Stonier finds a box belonging to a Edward Barton, containing old documents under the floorboards of her daughter's house, she starts to investigate a church called Gothic Hall. Which coincides with a skeleton found in the grounds of the Hall. One part of the book is her story, while the other tale is set in the 1890's where we find out what happened.
Unfortunately I didn't find the story that riveting, or that keen on the style of writing.

Intriguing

This book is intriguing for anyone interested in old mysteries and in researching family history. There is enough factual content to encourage the reader to explore further.

Very good story

I enjoyed both of the stories in this book, it was well written, and very interesting. And I liked how the author put it all together at the end. Thank you
