With large flaps to lift, this board book asks questions about opposites that become more complicated and interesting once the flap is lifted and the picture is revealed. “Small or big?” opens to reveal two trucks, one of which may have seemed big without the other in the image.”Empty or full?” has an image of a fish tank that seems crowded with bright red fish, or is it? The illustrations are simple and bold and will lead to discussions about how they could be interpreted. This is a board book ...more

Small or big? One or many? Empty or full? This simple board book ingeniously uses sturdy and thick fold-out flaps to expand simple pictures and reveal a larger image so that two opposite attributes are shown. A small blue truck unfolds to reveal a big construction vehicle. One sheep is actually part of a herd of many. An empty glass box expands to reveal a tank full of goldfish.

Children will enjoy the tactile nature of interacting with Opposite Surprise. It's a fabulous book for practice labelin

This is a cute book introducing the concept of opposites to children in the form of a board book.
The illustrations are bright and unpredictable based on the nature of the book.
Both my 2 year old and my 4 year old enjoyed the reading of this short book.

I would recommend it to families with small children.

Single-word per page book covering different sets of opposites. Readers need to extend the page to reveal the opposite to the original image. I.e. empty to full fish tank. Illustrations are clear and bold images against a white background.

This is an interesting concept book that presents the opposite each time the reader opens a flap. Many of the opposites are shown in unexpected ways. Kids will enjoy being part of the action to see what comes next while they learn even without trying.

This board book that I received is great! Such a good children's book to teach opposites to the little children. "Opposite Surprise" is very engaging, because the child can open the flap of each page. For example, on one page it talks about slow or fast. Before you open the flap it's a picture of a turtle to show slow. Then you open the flap, and it still uses the turtle but then it changes into a plane to show fast. Such a creative and fun book to read with the little ones. I highly recommend t ...more
