Is it really possible for a twenty-first-century young woman to live a life in direct contrast to culture’s ever-changing standards? The answer is yes. You're invited to join author Marjorie Jackson in Devoted, a 31-day devotional about letting love and dedication to Jesus penetrate every area of your life—relationships, decisions, standards, convictions, priorities. . .everything. Whether you're a long-time Christian or the spiritual training wheels are still on, you'll dive into God’s Word and discover what it truly means to be a young woman who is completely, joyfully, beautifully different. . .while coming to understand that life is good with a God who is great!
"God knew about today before it ever happened. He knew about yesterday. He has a purpose for every event in our lives, good or bad. Sometimes, though, it takes great patience to see how He "causes all things to work together for good to those who love God, to those who are called according to His purpose" (Romans 8:28)". -Devoted, Page 172
"Our future on earth is short; what about eternity-forever and ever? Praise the Lord, we know who's King during and after this messy life." -Devoted, Page 172
Devoted was an amazing devotional. I believe it is aimed for girls and young women, but I think women of any age can find some encouragement and truth in this book.
I loved how it was written. Each daily devotion started with a scripture verse, then the devotion, 3 personal (or group) questions, and then ended with a "Today's Challenge". The book also featured some great art pages for coloring, if you wish.
All in all, I thought this book was great and recommend it.

Marjorie Jackson shares timeless truths from God's Word in such a beautiful, humble, and charismatic way. If you're looking to add a new book to your morning quiet time, grab this one!
I am very impressed with this devotional for teen girls and young women. I have been reading and studying through it as part of my quiet time. This guide is written in a straightforward manner, with some occasional humorous moments. It truly feels as if the author is speaking to you and offering guidance and suggestions. I appreciate that it is not full of “fluff”, but gets to the heart of important matters, including things such as “Why Read the Bible?”, “Guys”, “Picking Good Friends”, “True Purity”, and so much more.
My teenage daughter has also been reading through this devotional. She has expressed how much she likes it and plans to read it through multiple times. She compared the writing style of the author as being similar to discussing an issue with a trusted older sister. My daughter is seventeen and the author is nineteen, so this seems a great way to describe things. My daughter was happy that it was someone near her age offering suggestions and direction. She also liked the physical size of the devotional. It is easy to hold. She’s enjoyed doing a few of the coloring pages, as well.
I highly recommend this devotional for teens and even their moms, because it can lead to some very important discussions.
I received a complimentary copy of this book. All opinions are my own.

My Review:
A young woman these days needs a guide through life and God is that guide. She needs every moment of her day to day with God permeating in it, there is just no other say. Life these days is more and more difficult and navigating it seems rougher than it did 10 years ago much less 50.
Marjorie Jackson can set those sails right. She can take a young girl on a journey onward and upward and show her how to stay focused on Him and what He really wants for our lives. I really loved the cover of the book, it was a refreshing cover and made me want to open the book.
As I read along I realized how much my almost 20 year old daughter could learn from this book. She is just starting out in the world. She is in ministry and has already finished seminary and is looking ahead wanting to know what is next for herself. This book asks some of those difficult questions. I really believe it could get her to thinking even more and maybe even expand on some conversations she and God have already been having. I also liked the fact that there are coloring pages in it, as well.
**Disclosure**This book was sent to me free of charge for my honest review from the author. All opinions are my own.
I love this book is young woman to young woman/girl. This is a very talented author that is able to write directly to her audience. I enjoyed the format which is conversational and includes scriptures that inspire and are relatable to the intended message. The end of chapter questions and challenges are perfect to open discussion whether in a group or one on one. The author is able to match scripture to topical issues young people face which is something even the most experienced theologians struggle to do. The coloring pages are bonus and certainly add to the entire experience of this devotional and can certainly help draw attention to the message and help to bring others in to an interactive experience. A good read.
Devoted, by Marjorie Jackson, is an excellent devotional book that speaks to real life, especially for young ladies and girls who are serious about their relationship with Christ being their top priority. This book “A Girl’s 31 Day Guide to Good Living With A Great God” is just that. A few of the 31 topics she writes about include joy, identity, fearlessness, true beauty, and true love. The book is rich with scripture. In her introduction she quotes Elisabeth Elliot, “The fact that I am a woman does not make me a different kind of Christian, but the fact that I am a Christian makes me a different kind of woman.” Devoted is a good guide in leading teens and young adults on that road to becoming a “different kind of woman.” The book features 31 hand-lettered coloring pages of scripture. I like the book so much that I am gifting it to my granddaughter because I believe it will enrich her life. I love that Devoted: A Girl’s 31-Day Guide to Good Living with a Great God is written by a nineteen year-old. Too often, books for young girls are written by mature women who become preachy towards teens and new adults. Jacksons book is written by a young woman experiencing the same issues as others her age, and sharing why she has made decisions for a God centered life despite the pressures, popularity, and even ease of other choices. As a bonus, each chapter features personal and group questions, challenges, and hand lettered art pages that readers can enjoy coloring. I highly recommend this for the young lady in your life.

I intended to use this book as an added resource to help me in teaching the teen girls in my Sunday school class but 'Devoted' is not "just for girls"! Marjorie Jackson has shared so many encouraging and motivational insights in these thirty-one daily devotions and they are very appropriate for both young Christians and those of us who are older and more seasoned.
Each of the thirty-one entries includes a Bible verse, the author's thoughts and observations relating to that verse, personal questions to spur one's thinking and a challenge for the day. She has also included thirty-one hand-lettered coloring pages and with the current coloring craze, these are also "not just for girls"!
So yes, 'Devoted' is a wonderful book for young girls and young Christians but it is also a book that I will use myself and I stopped being 'just a girl" a long time ago! I highly recommend this book.

Such a beautiful book by Marjorie Jackson. This book of 31 days of Devotionals is a wonderful and encouraging way to start each new day. Definitely a Christian book as it guides you in developing a relationship with God by your daily actions.
Living in a world with standards that change, you learn hope to cope with the outside influences and deal with them.
The book includes 31 adult coloring pages that go with these devotionals. The book includes scripture quotations, discussion questions with cause you to think and ponder upon the ideas that she is presenting.
The book is well written and uplifting. I received a complimentary copy of this book from Barbour Publishing and was under no obligation to post a review.
This book was good for me! Marjorie shares so much wisdom, rooted in God’s word. Her writing speaks to the heart of a young lady seeking to honor God with her life — from personal devotions to relationships with people. This book gave me a much needed refresher and provided me new, encouraging tips on how to be intentional in my relationship with God. Plus, you get color beautiful memory verses!

This book far exceeded my expectations for a book addressing such a challenging topic. Being skilled in reaching a people group who need Jesus like none other is an ongoing battle which Jackson handles courageously. The different topics Jackson journeys through really touched my heart and were very applicable. My two favorite parts of the book are the challenges and the personal questions at the end of each chapter, which really helped me process what I had read and recognize where I can apply them to my own life. What a cool book! Would be great for a lady of any age, especially middle school, high school, and college. Excellent devotional for young girls. The author, who is wise beyond her years, shares from her heart with young ladies on all areas pertinent to living the Christian life. And who better to write this devotional but a young lady who understands the struggles and challenges of walking the Christian life in this world. I was very impressed with the insight shared in this little book. While this is geared toward young ladies, I was learning more about walking out my faith and making wise choices as I read this book and I am 47, just a few years past the target audience.
Each chapter (daily reading) begins with a key verse for that day and then a couple pages of talking about what that verse means to the reader (young ladies), followed by some application questions, a challenge for the day, and ends with a coloring art page of that day's key verse. And I have to say the coloring art pages are a thing of beauty and very appropriate for the target age group. In one of the chapters the author even talks about how these art pages can be a tool to meditate on scripture as you can be pondering how the current days topic applies to your own life as the reader or even be praying out the verse and its application to your life as you are coloring the page. I myself have found this very helpful because there is something about coloring that calms the senses and helps me to be still before God.
A few topics covered in this book include: -Setting an example in speech (how we use our words), conduct (how we walk the talk), love (how we treat others), faith (how we live out our faith), and purity (guarding our hearts and minds) -Finding your source of identity, who you are -Power of the tongue in relation to mean girls, gossip, lying, perversion and emptiness and the need to use discretion, to think before speaking, to choose honesty, to speak humbly, to honor others, to honor and glorify God, to choose life -Prayer in which the author includes tips such as selecting prayer targets, journaling, and creating a prayer list -Dating with suggestions for what is helpful and not helpful And so much more. One of my favorite daily challenges was in the chapter on fear in which the author shares a very practical way to address your fears. Young ladies, highly recommend this 31 day devotional for your Christian walk, you will find it engaging, practical, and helpful. For the not so young ladies (like myself), get a copy for the young ladies in your life or your church, and while you are at it, get a copy for yourself as well, you will learn as well. I did.

I was really impressed with Devoted: A Girl’s 31-Day Guide to Good Living with a Good God by Marjorie Jackson. I love the idea of a devotional but often find them to be lacking in substance. You get one scripture and little to no spiritual wisdom or insight from them. Now, I’m not saying that devotionals should take you out of the word of God or that one should rely on others to dig into the word for them. But, young women, especially, sometimes they need guidance, focus and motivation to really get into the word of God.
Now, I need to explain why I was looking for a guide for young women when I’m a married adult with children. There is your answer—my girls. I have two teenage girls, 16 and 14. Every Christmas I do their Christmas gifts—want, wear, read and need. For their bookish gift, I usually try to get them something educational/inspirational in addition to their want-to-reads. When I saw Devoted, it piqued my interest but I feared this would be a typical devotional and lacking in true godly wisdom.
So, I requested this book from Netgalley and I was impressed. This young lady has wisdom beyond her years and though I would have preferred that the scripture be taken from the KJV, all scriptures are referenced so one can simply open up their own Bible of choice and follow along.
One unique quality to this devotional is that a daily challenge is given to encourage young ladies to get into the word of God and to build their own relationship with God. Plus, the fun coloring pages while instilling Biblical truths in their hearts.
This book covers topics such as the importance of reading your Bible, purity, dressing modestly, praying for your friends and praying for your future spouse.
An excellent read for Christian young ladies who are looking to grow in their spiritual walk with Christ.
A complimentary copy of this book was provided by Netgalley. I was not required to write a positive review, and have not been compensated for this. All opinions are my own.
There are so many things to love about this 31-day devotional that is equal parts light-hearted and heavy-hitting! First, Devoted by nineteen-year-old Marjorie Jackson provides more than just a short devotional reading each day. She also provides a small handful of thought-provoking, deep-reaching questions for either personal reflection or discussion with others, based on the reading and Scripture for that day. Each day also has a challenge to push the reader to put the day's "lesson" into action. As if all this isn’t enough, she also includes beautiful hand-lettered coloring pages to enjoy. Can you imagine? And I haven't even really talked about the content yet! Devoted is geared toward young women and speaks intentionally to the issues that these girls struggle with every day. There's hardly a subject that Jackson doesn't cover, and I HIGHLY recommend this devotional. So do influential Christian women like Holley Gerth, Olivia Hawkins, and Emma Mae Jenkins. Buy a copy of this devotional today and richly bless the young women in your life!

This is a wonderful devotional for young women. I would recommend no younger than pre-teen and up to early adult. The scriptures are spot on to the topic and there is a daily challenge at the end of each reading to apply the lesson. Between each day is a coloring page which I just love! This is intended to be a 31 day devotional. To be honest I think that's pushing it a bit. The readings are about 4 pages which I think is a bit much in today's highly overscheduled world. It is definitely to much if you are haven't already developed the daily devotional habit. I would recommend doing the same reading for a week. Break it up into reading the scripture one day, part of the reading another etc. That way you can look up the scriptures listed. And do the challenge everyday. This would be an excellent small group study for young ladies and would segue well into a devotional more suited to daily study. Great devotional for girls teen through college. The devotions are exactly what every girl needs to hear to help in her growth with Christ. The devotions are easy to follow and the challenges every day keep you fresh and doing what is right. My 17 year old noted that she felt the challenges kept her on track in doing what is right throughout her whole day. The coloring pages were at the end of each devotional were an fun bonus. I was truly impressed with Marjorie’s writing style. She writes in a personal and real way that helps the reader in their growth. I love that she shares her own personal thoughts and stories to address everyday issues and life. I received a complimentary copy of this book from Barbour Publishing and was under no obligation to post a review. This review is my own personal opinion and I highly recommend this devotional to young women. I was very happy to pass this along to all three of my daughters who are enjoying each new message in this 31 day challenge.
A girl’s guide to good living with a great God! I am constantly on the lookout for a great devotional for the fragile teenage years of growing up. This one is beautiful and so meaningful! It is a gift to my oldest daughter. It is divided into thirty-one days of deep devotionals. All of the hot topics seem to be covered: beauty, purity, joy, ministry, truth, love, faith, selfishness, friendship, wisdom, etc. Not a fluffy devotional that won’t convict – this one seems to lovingly remind us what we really need in our lives and how to live a Godly life. At the end of each you have personal questions, a challenge (which I think is awesome) and a sweet and beautiful page to COLOR!! It is a coloring devotional!!! (I’m so jealous, I want this for myself) This is perfect for any young woman who needs that daily boost of God’s goodness. I can highly recommend this – well done!! I was given this by Barbour Publishing and this is my own opinion.
Devoted: A Girl’s 31-Day Guide to Good Living With a Great God by Majorie Jackson is such a wonderful, cute little devotional. Written for young women by a young woman, this book talks about the importance of not allowing anyone to look down on you because of your age, finding your identity in God rather than in worldly things, and many other important lessons relevant for teenage and even tween girls are all wrapped up in this devotional. At the end of each chapter there is a coloring page made up of scripture verses, and sometimes other pictures (like a tiara or some cameos). The lettering was beautiful and the pictures were so fun to color. I greatly enjoyed reading and coloring in this devotional, and learned many great lessons from it.
I received a copy of this book from Barbour Publishers. I was not required to post a positive review and all views and opinions are my own.
An excellent devotional for girls, written by a young lady who clearly loves the Lord and is a gifted writer.
I loved the format of the book. Each chapter starts with a Bible verse, followed by an essay written in a friendly, conversational manner. Next are three thought provoking questions and a doable, encouraging challenge. Each chapter ends with a beautiful coloring page of the key verse.
An especially good chapter was focused on joy. One of my favorite words! She even referred to my favorite verse: Psalm 30:5 " Weeping may endure for the night, but joy comes in the morning." Do you want more joy in your life? Try practicing an attitude of gratitude.
This little book is packed full of wisdom, good advice and relevant life lessons. A joy to read and to share. I received a complimentary copy of this book from Barbour Publishing and was under no obligation to post a review.
This devotional covers many topics from Prayer to Joy to Being a Good Sister and twenty-eight other helpful topics. While the author focuses on teen girls, this book can be used by women of any age. The author reminds that as Christians we are supposed to “stand out in stark contrast of this world, not blend in.” She then shares with the reader ways to stand out from the world.
A complaint that I have about the book is the use of multiple “versions” of the Bible. I only use the King James Bible, so I was not a fan of the author constantly skipping from one “version” to another.

I'm not sure whether I should recommend this book or not. I am also not sure if it deserves 3 or 2 stars. I would like to give it 2.5 stars, but since that's not possible on Goodreads, I went for 2.
I'm not happy with this book and its message. First of all, because it recommends resources that support Young Earth Creationism. Well, I shouldn't have been surprised because Marjorie Jackson is an acquaintance of the Duggar family and they are convervative fundamentalist whatever. And there was a big focus on evangelization.
The style of writing was quite preachy at times and the author quite often came across as precocious . Which was a little funny in my opinion because I am older than she is and it was hard for me to take her serious because she wasn't always convincing. It sounded like she was repeating what her parents/church elders etc. said. A few chapters also felt like she just rewrote chapters from her first book, The Greatest Book You've Never Read.
However, I liked the idea of a coloring devotional. The handlettering pages were gorgeous and if this had been a coloring book, without the text, I would have given it five stars. And some chapters did contain useful advice and helpful questions for reflection.
I think that girls with similar beliefs like the Duggars and the author might really enjoy the book. It was just not for me, and I could never recommend a resource that supports Young Earth Creationism.
Disclaimer: I received a free copy in exchange for an honest review.
I got the opportunity to review this book - and I was excited since it was by Marjorie Jackson - who had previously courted a Duggar (some of my fav people!) My 15 year old and I worked through this together and it was a great mother daughter bonding experience. I love that it gives great views on how to live for Jesus - especially in the self centered world we live in, "I received a complimentary copy of this book from Barbour Publishing and was under no obligation to post a review."
This 31-day devotional is incredible. The author Marjorie Jackson is 19 years old. 19 years old, WOW! This is geared toward teenage girls but the truths within these pages are for any woman. It would be a great gift for any woman. Just be sure you get one for yourself as well. It's That Good!
Blessings, Karen Hadley Rating: 5* I received a copy of this book as a gift and all opinions are my own.
Marjorie is definitely wise beyond her years. She is young, but she doesn't let that get in the way of spreading the gospel. Every teenage girl should read this. It is inspirational; full of helpful verses, life lessons, and outstanding advise. It shows young girls how important it is to read the Bible, the spread the Word of Christ, how to have self-confidence, etc.
I’ve always enjoyed devotionals, coloring pages, and guidance books. This softbound book delivers all these aspects. It is marketed to ‘girls’ and definitely appeals to the young readers, (the author herself is 19-years old) but it also appeals to those of us who aren’t so…ahem…young. I suppose some of us refuse to let our inner child fade.
Devoted, by Marjorie Jackson, contains 31 daily readings that guide and encourage us in our daily walk. The devotional sections are easy to understand and are approximately 4-pages each, and continues with a question section, a challenge, and prayer. To close out each daily read is a creative coloring page.
This is a fun, spiritual guide that provides a month long journey into a deeper, more devoted relationship with our creator. This would be a nice addition to a girl’s study group or Sunday school class. Nice gift too!

A book for girls and women in every season of life!
Devoted, A Girl's 31-day Guide to Good Living With A Great God, by Marjorie Jackson, is a great source of encouragement in our daily walk with God. The author encourages us to let our light shine before others, make godly decisions, make God our number one priority, and so much more. Infused with scripture, this devotional talks about many different aspects of life and how we as Christians can make the most of our lives by doing everything for the Lord and being an example to the world. This devotion book is aimed at pre-teen and teen girls, but I would say it is great for any girl or woman in any season of life. It also comes with some discussion questions after each devotion, which could easily be used for group discussion or a Sunday school class, as well as some beautiful inspirational coloring pages. I received a complimentary copy of this book from Barbour Publishing and was under no obligation to post a review.
This is a great devotional for younger women. As I was reading it, I enjoyed how this author was able to tap into the life of young ladies. I eventually gave the book to my daughter, because I know that she will get more out of it than I would. It's a great devotional for teen girls and young women. It touches on a lot of what girls go through and gives great insights. And it has a small hand drawing to color at the end of each devotion. I definitely recommend this devotional.

"Devoted: A Girl's 31-Day Guide to Good Living with a Great God" featuring 31 hand lettered coloring pages by author Marjorie Jackson is a 174 page 31 day paperback devotional devotional. This devotional is perfect for preteens, teens, and young adult woman, but any woman will glean some inspiration and encouragement from it. It is for seekers, fledgling, or seasoned girls of faith.
Each day begins with a topic and Bible verse. A short devotional story is next followed by personal or group questions. After those is a daily challenge. It ends with a hand lettered page of the bible verse to color. Each of the thirty one topics are relevant and worthy of contemplation. Setting an Example, Joy, Why Read the Bible, Defending Your Faith, Forgiveness, True Purity, Picking Good Friends, Being a Good Sister, and Trusting God with Your Future are just some that stood out. There were no bad ones.
The book opens with an introduction and a quote I loved from Elizabeth Elliott. "The fact that I am a woman does not make me a different kind of Christian, but the fact that I am a Christian makes me a different type of woman." This sets the tone for an inspiration book that is meant to draw women closer to God, whether you don't know Him, barely know Him, or you have walked with Him for years.
I enjoyed the way author Jackson writes. It is a clear, easy to read way that feels like a conversation and not a lecture. Her book is well researched, well organized, and well written. I would recommend it. Young girls and even older women will enjoy this devotional. It will help some young woman in your family. With the questions at the end of the day this book makes a nice small group or study group book. It will make a great birthday or graduation gift. Churches will want a copy for their library.
I rated this wonderful devotional a 5 out of 5 stars. I received a complimentary copy of this book from Barbour Publishing and was under no obligation to post a review
A book full of hope. This devotional is great for individual and group study. Coloring pages are included, too. Each day gives a thoughtful message. I received a complimentary copy of this book from Barbour Publishing and was under no obligation to post a review.
This little 31-day devotional really surprised me...twice! I didn't expect it to be so chock-full of meaty questions and advice. And I sure didn't think it could have been written by a 19-year old!
Marjorie Jackson has done a superb job of opening her heart to the Scriptures in this authentic daily devotional. Each day begins with a quote from the Bible, and 3 or 4 pages of thoughts on a particular subject. Then there are 3 sets of questions to help you examine yourself in the light of this teaching, and finally, a daily challenge to help you apply it. Each day wraps up with a lovely calligraphy page suitable for coloring. And the whole book is published in an appealing 7"X6" size. Topics range from the predictable (joy, forgiveness, prayer) to the uncomfortably necessary (the tongue, being a good sister, being teachable, selfishness). There isn't a weak link in the whole book, no matter what age group you find yourself in. And like the book of Proverbs, you could easily reread this devotional every month, and continue to find something new to chew on every time. Like the many-faceted illustration on the cover, this little book is a true jewel!
