Doi angajaţi care lucrează în birouri alăturate le mărturisesc şefilor lor că nu şi-au terminat la timp raportul lunar:

Angajatul A spune:

„Ştii, John, ca să fiu sincer, săptămâna asta a fost o asemenea nebunie, încât, din păcate, n-am reuşit să termin raportul la timp. Nu e vina mea. N-am avut ce face. Cred că mă înţelegi. Mi-e teamă că n-o să fie gata decât la jumătatea săptămânii viitoare.”

Angajatul B spune:

„John, raportul meu lunar nu e gata încă. Putem să trecem în revistă acum schiţa principalelor puncte de interes şi voi termina raportul până joi dimineaţă, îmi asum responsabilitatea pentru întârziere. Am hotărât că alte proiecte erau mai urgente.”

Care dintre cei doi angajaţi are şanse mai bune în carieră?

„Mda… nu ştiu ce să vă zic. Departamentul de service se deschide abia pe la 9. Ştiţi, e luni dimineaţa. Eu personal n-am cum să vă ajut. Mă ocup doar cu vânzările de maşini uzate. Reveniţi puţin mai târziu. Îmi pare rău.”

Angajatul de la service-ul B spune:

„Îmi face plăcere să vă ajut. Departamentul de service se deschide la 9. Până atunci pot să vă ajut să completaţi formularul. Aşa o să fie totul gata când deschid ei, peste câteva minute.”

Excellent book , makes you observe things about yourself and others that you missed your whole life. Actionable advice and useful in every day life.

I ready this book a couple of years ago, still can remember some examples from it very vividly - eg why should "but" be used as occasionally as possible. Highly recommended
