Ms. Money is about the end-of-the-century financial boom. Its characters are crazed by the Midas touch until their moral failure leads them right into the financial crisis of 2008. Maggie Worth works her way into a Wall Street ringside seat on the action, living through boom and bust, LBO madness and dot.com mania, Netscape to Enron. She becomes Ms. Money--an investment strategist for Traub Securities and financial anchor on TV weekly, Smarter Than The Street! Maggie cruises the Forbes 400 and l ...more

This is an interesting book about the background of the big money markets. Ms. Money is Maggie Worth, who once upon a time was going to be a nun. When she fell in love, she decided against that goal. She turned her attention to other things and started learning how to make money. This book is great about showing the financial markets through the years and what is behind depressions and stock market crashes. Ms. Money knows a lot about finances and becomes wealthy and famous on television for her ...more

Ms. Money: A Novel: Gals get smart--this is a fast, funny book for women not afraid to be seen reading Barron's. The smarter you are the more you will like what Maggie Worth has to say about her rise and fall and come back. She becomes Ms. Money, the woman with the Midas touch, a la Baby Face, the 1933 American film starring Barbara Stanwyck (based on a story by Darryl F. Zanuck), a sexually-charged Pre-Code Hollywood movie that Ashton uses as a stepping stone for her readers. Maggie gets rich o ...more

“Now you’ve seen how I became Ms. Money, a highly paid financial strategist and TV stock market commentator with a bank account to die for. I took off my clothes, so to speak, and bared it all. I have two children who are worth more to me than anything in the world. Even more important you now know that the hero of my story is a woman. She is neither slave girl, nor princess, as central casting would have it. She knows that women can be heroes not heroines. And she knows what she has to do to become one. What I am is a woman who understands the heroism of being a woman. I’m ready now for grueling arduous conflict. But please pay careful attention because my struggle is a woman’s. Fire-breathing dragons have been extinct for centuries.” 0 likes
