TICK

I don't need much.
As the right-hand man to the mob boss,
I have everything I need.
Women, money, power.

I've seen too much,
Hurt too long to want anything more.

But when I hear the screams,
I go into overdrive,
Driven to help a woman in need.

What I didn't realize is she was going to save me.

CYMA

There's no "happily-ever-after."
There's only heartache and pain.
I learned that the hard way.

Now, I have one goal: protect my daughter.
But when the rugged and sexy man saves me,
All I want is to bolt.
After all, I've got enough to deal with right now.

But a chance encounter proves me wrong.
Can we find a way to find love in the middle of mayhem?

Mayhem is the second book in the Twisted Hearts Love Story series, and I believe I enjoyed this one even more than I enjoyed the first. Yes, I had a lot of fun with the first book; however, I was even more addicted to this one.

The first book was a very dark and gritty read, and in comparison, this one almost feels light. It’s not a light read, though. It’s just a different kind of darkness to the first book. We still deal with the mafia world and the challenges attached to it, along with dealing with the darkness that can be found within everyday life. Honestly, I find the way in which the author combines the gritty nature of her stories and the romance together to be wonderful – the combination between the two is a thing of beauty.

From the start of this story, I was pulled in. Bedlam, the first book, pulled me in because of the voice of our leading lady. Whilst the voice in this one was just as great, I found it was the story that really grabbed me. Tick, who we were introduced to in the first book, developed into a full character in this one, and I found I loved him even more after finding out more about him. When the leading lady of Mayhem was introduced, I found I loved her just as much as I loved Tick, and I knew I was a goner. I needed to know how their story would come together; I needed to see how events played out.

Thus, I was addicted.

Putting the story down was an impossibility. We were pulled deeper into the mafia world in this story, with more being added that leaves me with questions of what will happen in the future books in the series. It wasn’t simply the factors surrounding Tick’s life that pulled me in, though. I was pulled into the drama of Cyma’s life. There was so much emotion to be felt there, and I was on the edge of my seat as I hoped for the best. Honestly, the overall story was so beautiful – there was so much emotion to be felt, so much happened. I feel as though the action I expected to find due to the first part of the book wasn’t quite to the level I had hoped for when it came to pass, but this in part is because it’s a very different kind of action to the first book and I found myself comparing even though I shouldn’t have been.

Speaking of the first book, it is not necessary to read Bedlam to enjoy this one, although I would suggest giving it a read. The two go together so well, yet we are provided with enough information to ensure those who haven’t read the first book understand all that is going on. Plus, through reading the first book you get to truly appreciate the way life has developed for the characters introduced to us in book one. It was so nice to see them again, to see how their lives had moved forward, and I was really pleased to find them playing an important role in this story.

I’m somewhat confused, though, and I fear I may have misread information in one of the books. I feel as though certain things that were said in this one went against information provided in the first book. It was never anything big, but there were little things where I was thinking ‘I thought this was otherwise in book one’. It was never anything that influenced the story, but I did find myself questioning information that I thought I already had.

Overall, though, this was a wonderful second book. I’m super excited to read the next book in the series, as this series is promising to be wonderful.

Mayhem : A twisted heart love story is written by Autumn Sand. This is a standalone book. But this is the second book in the series. Autumn Sand did a great job on this book. The story is well written. Dante (Tick) is Tony Delaney's right hand man. Dante (Tick) has lived through hell, he lost his woman, and their unborn child, a son. With the sudden lose, his world was shattered. Tick feels he doesn't deserve to be happy, and loved. Tick basically keeps himself numb, he just sleeps with women once and leaves. Never getting attached again. Tick is just lost. Until one day Tick has to rescue a woman. That woman is Cyma. But as fast he saves her, Tick loses her. Tick can't seem to stop thinking about Cyma. Tick has this strong feeling, a connection to her. Tick knows he has to find her. On accident, he runs into Cyma again. But Cyma has had a bad life, she is suffering. Cyma only knows pain and sorrow. Tick tries everything to get close to Cyma. But Cyma just keeps pulling away from Tick. Tick isn't going to let anything stop him from having Cyma. He has a connection with her, he's never felt before. I felt Tick and Cyma, are perfect together. They both have had heartache, but together, they can heal. The chemistry between Tick and Cyma is sweet. This story is filled with so much emotions. This story will keep you on the edge of your seat. I couldn't put this story down. This is a great story. I really enjoyed it. I recommend reading this book. 5 Stars! Thank you, Autumn Sand. Great work :)

Well damn...

I didn't think I could love this book more than the first. But boy, I did. It probably helps that this is Tick's love story, and even though he was a background character in the first novel, I loved him.

I absolutely love how Autumn does alternating POVs for her novels. It allows readers to see both perspectives of the main characters, which ultimately heightens emotions when a misunderstanding or tragedy happens. Plus, it's nice to read a romance from a guy's POV. Especially since romance tend to focus on the woman's view.

Even though this can be read as a standalone, it still gives more growth to characters from the previous novel. It's absolutely phenomenal that Autumn continues to give life to her characters, rather than focus on the main ones.

Seriously read her books. They are all wonderful.

Disclaimer: I received an ARC of this novel from the author in exchange for an honest review.

5 Effing Stars.

I am that gal that cannot read a book if I do not read the book (or books) that lead up to it no matter if it can be read as a standalone. While I liked the story of Tony and Anaya...I loved the story of Dante and Cyma.

Dante. He knows heartbreak. He knows war. He knows the mob. He knew love once upon a time.

Cyma. She knows heartbreak. She knows struggle. She knows heartache. She believes in a world where there is no happily ever after in life.

Dante is at the right place at the right time and saves Cyma from a fate that would set her life down a path that would destroy her more than she already is. In doing so, he opens his heart to feelings that he hasn't felt in years that alters his path and ultimately, Cyma's.

Mayhem is a book that is full of just that...mayhem. Dante and Cyma have to learn how to heal from their past as they learn how to love in the present and look ahead to their future.

Mayhem is the second book in A Twisted Hearts Love Story Series by Autumn Sand. WOW… I was expecting this book to be good, but Ms. Sand has really excelled herself. I LOVED the first book in the series and I really didn’t think any further instalments would have quite the same effect on me- but I was wrong, this story has nudged ahead by a whisker as my firm favourite- so far. Ms. Sands has released instalments of such a high calibre and has created the impressive foundations of a truly is superb series.
I loved Tick (Dante) after meeting him in the first book- ‘Bedlam’ which is Tony and Anaya’s story. He intrigued me and I wanted to know more about him, so I was excited to learn he would be getting his own book.
The ghosts of the past torment him- there isn’t a day that goes by without regret. Tick hoped that the pain of his loss would lessen by now, but he seems to be stuck in one of the stages of grief and can’t seem to find a way through. He has carried the weight of grief and guilt around for the past ten years, using women and alcohol to ‘numb’ his misery- if only for a little while.
Losing his Fiancée and their unborn baby in a horrific accident while on the way to get married has torn his heart apart and left him a shattered man. He joined the Marines the day of the funeral and spent many years diving headlong into danger, a punishment for not being able to prevent their death.

“Guilt hits me as it always does when I think of her. Why am I alive, but she and my son are not? I went into the Marines hell-bent on finding death, always volunteering for the most dangerous missions. Only to come back heavily decorated with a Medal of Honor and not in a coffin as I’d hoped. If only I could be with them again, if I could hold Kayla one last time and tell her how much I love her.”

He doesn’t date and he certainly doesn’t do relationships. He only ‘hooks up’ with women as a way to forget for a few short moments. He has friends and is often surrounded by people, but he lives a lonely existence. He hasn’t felt a connection with anyone, since his fiancée; so the last thing he expected was to be completely enthralled by a stunningly beautiful stranger. She had found herself in a bit of a predicament, when he heroically came to her rescue. But after quickly thanking him, she disappears into a crowded street, leaving Tick trying to figure out what just happened and processing his feelings.
A few nights later, he encounters her again in the most unlikely of places. He hasn’t been able to stop thinking about her and is determined to find out as much about her as possible. But this enchanting woman, with an appealing air of innocence about her seems determined to keep him at a distance.
Cyma hasn’t had an easy life. She has had to fight and struggle her way through life. She has experienced more heartache and pain than she thought she would be able to endure. When this handsome and charming man came to her rescue, she can’t help but to consider him to be her knight in shining armour. And this is the city; no one does something nice without a price, do they? And anyway, he is really way out of her league. She has serious trust issues, as well as a very complicated life- so she does what she knows best- flees.
When he re-enters her life a few nights later, she is surprised as well as a little intrigued. He has been on her mind since they first met and she can’t help fantasising about him. But she doesn’t have the time or energy for dating, let alone a relationship- plus, she wouldn’t want to subject him to all the chaos in her life. This isn’t some sweet fairy tale, unfortunately this is her difficult reality.
But Tick is determined to get to know her and relentlessly pursues her, until she agrees to go out on a date with him. But with all the baggage and secrets they both have, is there any chance that they can truly connect? What happens when their baggage is revealed? What secrets are they keeping? Will he embrace a future with Cyma, or will he let the pain and grief of the past overwhelm him and cause him to lose this chance of finding true happiness? Can Cyma learn to trust again, dismantle her defences and let him into her heart and life? Will they both finally be able to heal?
This story is packed full of drama, suspense, danger, excitement, violence, action- as well as being a very erotic romance. Ms. Sand really built the tension in the storyline, as well as between the main characters. She has a dynamic, detailed, seductive and spicy writing style that completely captivated me from the beginning of the story right through to the end.
The characters are really beautifully written, they are perfect- they were developed in such a way that they are really believable and relatable. What they have gone through and had to endure really made me feel for them. They have strengths and flaws that combined to make them realistic and endearing. I was drawn to them from the beginning, connecting with them and their story. The cast of characters are like one big family and I liked feeling a part of that while on this journey with them through the story.
I am already excitedly anticipating the next instalment of this brilliant series from Ms. Sand.
I really recommend this book- as it is a really wonderful, entertaining and riveting read!

Thank you Ms. Sand!

Mayhem by Autumn Sand is book 2 in the Twisted Hearts Love Story series and can be read as a standalone. Book 1, Bedlam, is also available to purchase and a book I would recommend reading as it's well worth the 5 stars I gave it.

Okay, so I've just finished reading Mayhem and because of all the emotions I'm feeling, this review is going to be done in reverse. I'll be starting with my main part of the review and will then recap about the main characters; Tick and Cyma.

Wow! Wow! Wow! I don't even know where to start about the journey this book took me on. I've never before had to stop reading because I was crying so hard or because I honestly couldn't continue reading as I didn't want to know if what was happening was true. This book slowly builds up the suspense and then wham it hits you with page after page of so many emotions that you don't know which you're going to be feeling next. I was left sobbing my heart out by the end of chapter 34 and was laughing when the epilogue ended. What a journey Autumn Sand has just taken me on and one that will stay with me for days as I continue to process everything I've just felt by reading this 5 star book!

Autumn Sand doesn't shy away from difficult topics but always deals with each one carefully and gets the balance just right. I was right there with each character every step of the way and I completely forgot about ‘the real world’ as I became so absorbed in the story and the characters. This book is a MUST read for anyone who wants a love story that will leave an impact and stay with you for a long time after you've finished it. As with book 1, I tend to shy away from books that warn of violence but I'm so glad that I gave this series a chance and will definitely be reading the other books in the series as I can't wait to see what Autumn Sand has planned for Manny and hopefully Magnum as I'm sure their stories will be just as powerful and inspiring.

Now for a quick recap on Tick and Cyma:

After suffering heartbreak ten years ago, Dante ‘Tick' Moore doesn't want anything more than money, power and women. As the right-hand man of Tony Delaney, Tick has everything he wants but still deals daily with the pain left from what happened ten years ago. He lets very few people into his life and has distanced himself from any reminders of the past. However, Tick is about to experience feelings that he thought were long dead and the cause goes by the name of Cyma.

Cyma Sawyer has had to deal with a lifetime of heartache and pain, and it doesn't look like that will be ending any time soon. Cyma survives day by day and focuses on her daughter who needs her mother to remain strong no matter what. Just when she can't see any way out of her current situation, Cyma meets Tick who comes to her rescue and then wants to remain in her life. However. Cyma leant a long time ago that men shouldn't be relied on and she's determined to remain independent.

Tick and Cyma are both wounded and don't see HEA as a possibility. Neither believe they are worthy of anything more and hope to just continue surviving with all the pain the past has left them with. I loved being able to see Tick and Cyma heal and grow as the story progressed. I felt hope. I felt heartbreak. I felt anger. I felt despair. I felt love. I felt emotion after emotion and even felt anxiety as the tension built to boiling point. Only time will tell if Tick and Cyma can overcome the past and focus on the future, or will the present become too much for each of them.

“No one is perfect and no one's life is a fairy tale. We just hope to have those fairy tale moments from time to time.” - Anaya

I enjoyed the plot line of Mayhem, it wasn't your average run of the mill love story and that alone was the saving grace of this book. I thought the characters, displayed the honest human emotion of someone experiencing their ordeals and that made them believable, however I feel like the author missed a real opportunity with their development.

For me, it's all about the feels that are the true testament of the book and I didn't experience them with these characters and their story. They didn't draw me in, they didn't make me love them. I felt sympathy for their situations, but they didn't make me laugh and they didn't make me cry. Too bad, I think with a little more development, this story could have been a 5 star.

Well I loved this story! This is the first book I have read from Autumn Sand but it won't be the last.

This is a heartwarming story of two lost souls, Dante "Tick", a man who lost his fiancee and unborn son in a terrible accident on the morning of their wedding day.....and Cyma, a woman who is slowing going under in debt, with a very sick child.

They meet by accident when Tick is just in the right place at the right time. There is an immediate attraction, but she fights it.

"You don't know me and I'm not your responsibility." Turning toward the window, I tap my foot anxiously. I steal a quick glance and see his jaw muscle clenching. "An issue that I'm going to rectify," he says before starting the car.

The rest of the characters in this story are wonderful as well. I loved the whole feel of family between them and how they support each other. Add a couple of ex's that will drive you crazy and you have the makings for a great story.

"He needs to rest. He doesn't need hysterics around him," she says, a scathing tone in her voice.

"And why are you here?" I ask through gritted teeth, debating if I should slap her.

I'm Tick's on-again, off-again." She tips her chin up as she straightens her back.

This is the second book in a Twisted Hearts Love Story but can be read as a stand-alone novel. I highly recommend it!

Mayhem: A Twisted Hearts Love Story is Book Two of the series although it can be read as a standalone. It tells the love story of Dante (aka Tick) and Cyma who meet when he saves her from being assaulted and robbed. Book One: Bedlam, gives a very brief overview of who Dante is although it tells the love story of Tony and Anaya, so it may be better to read Bedlam before reading Mayhem.
Dante (aka Tick) works as a bodyguard, personal assistant and/or hit man, despite the fact that he is underneath a caring, responsible person desperate to protect and look after people who are important to him. Why does he follow this line of work? Dante is broken: broken beyond repair, he repels relationships preferring a string of one-night stands instead. He doesn’t want or need a serious relationship with a woman fearing it may all be taken away from him.
Cyma: a hard working single mum (divorcee) struggling to cope with two jobs and a four year old daughter who is seriously ill in hospital, doesn’t want a relationship either. Who would want her anyway? She has low self-esteem as a result of the abuse (physical and emotional) she suffered at the hands of her ex-husband, Cyma believes she is worthless. Her only reason for living is to do the best that she can do to make sure her daughter doesn’t suffer anything more than she has to.
When Dante comes across men slapping Cyma around in an alleyway attempting to get her purse the protector in him comes through and he saves her from them. Dante and Cyma feel an instant attraction to each other. It isn’t until she walks away that he realises he wants to see her again. Their paths cross again and both have the feeling their relationship is meant to be. However, both of them for very different reasons fight against the things fate has in store for them. Will they get their HEA?
Mayhem is told from the points of view of Dante and Cyma meaning you get to hear their most private innermost thoughts and feelings. It has everything: action, romance, poignancy, heartbreak and happiness. The banter between Dante and Cyma is at times funny, sarcastic, sad and heart-warming. Their relationship developed at a good steady pace although they had to work through realistic set-backs caused by themselves and the restraints put on them by Dante’s job. Both characters were believable and honest drawing you into their story easily. You just want everything to be good for them. There were lots of times I shed a silent tear but not always because it was sad, the love Dante and Cyma shared and the interaction between all of the characters was very poignant and heart-warming. It takes a very skilful author to be able to get you like this.
I look forward to reading the next book in the series: Bonded and it will be interesting to see whether it follows the story of Manny or Magnum. I can’t wait to find out.

Mayhem is the second book in the steamy Twisted Hearts Love Story Series by Autumn Sand. It’s told in alternating point of view between the two main characters, Tick and Cyma, with a beautiful epilogue told by Tick. Mayhem can be read as a standalone; however, there are characters and references to events in the first book in the series, Bedlam. Autumn Sand does a great job of a brief explanation to any event if needed though.

On the busy streets of Manhattan, single mother, Cyma finds herself in need of a hero. With the bad deck of cards she seems to have drawn in life, she never expected someone to actually come to her rescue. But, a tall, mysterious man saves her and walks away.

“Time has always seemed like a blur to me. One day always feels like it just blends right into the next.”

Tick is just going through the motions of life living day to day. And, although, he may be the right hand man to a mob boss, he does have a big heart to anyone who can tear down the walls and get in there. When, he hears a woman crying for assistance, his instincts kick in and he knows he needs to help her. But, he never expected to constantly think about her after the rescue.

Not needing to add another obstacle to her life, Cyma tries her best not to ponder the dreamy man who saved her despite the magnetic pull she felt towards him. But, as luck would have it, they meet again. And, this time, Tick is determined not to let the beautiful woman get away no matter how complicated she says her life is.

“Okay, here’s the thing. I feel like I’m your guardian angel since I saved you before, so it’s my responsibility to keep you safe.”
“You don’t know me and I’m not your responsibility.”

Tick is all alpha male, and wants nothing more than to claim her and her daughter as his own. Will Cyma give Tick the chance to take care of her and her daughter? Is he just another complication to her life?

“I told you, my life is complicated.”
“Yeah, you never did explain those complications.”

Mayhem deals with dark and dangerous subject matter, so if you do not enjoy reading that, then this is not the book for you. However, if you love mobs, alpha males, insta love, and sexy scenes, then I recommend this book for you!

Mayhem (A Twisted Hearts Love Story Book 2) by Autumn Sand

5 Amazingly Awesome Stars

Cyma is trying to hold down two jobs while still being a good Mom to her daughter who has many medical issues. With mounting medical bills, and loan payments to a terrible man, she does her best to avoid her landlord who wants his 4 months back rent. She's sold all she can to make ends meet and just can't catch a break. With her past causing her to trust no man and a very low self esteem, she just does her best to survive on her own. When she ends up in a very scary situation and a sexy stranger saves her she runs away as fast as she can, that's the last thing she needs right now.

Dante ran away 10 years ago and enlisted to escape the pain of a life altering tragic loss which still haunts his dreams 10 years later. He returned 6 years ago and is now the right hand man of a mob boss who is trying to take all his businesses legal. He lives with a lot of guilt because of his losses and doesn't feel deserving of any kind of relationship, he has even distanced himself from his loving supportive parents. All he needs is his job, money, and the right to spoil his Godson. Until he hears the cries of a woman in trouble and his need to protect her kicks in.

Dante sets out to find this woman that has stirred up feelings he never thought he could have again, and although Cyma feels like Dante could be everything opposite of what she believes about men she keeps pushing him away, she has to protect her daughter at all costs. Can these two break through the barriers that they both have set and find a happily ever after even while outside forces do all they can to destroy them?

I so so so loved this book!! This author knows how to tell a story that feels so real. Every word meant something and the story flowed perfectly. It had me wrapped while reading the prologue and I think I even quit breathing during some of it. This is my first book by this author so although part of a series I never felt lost and I plan to read the first in this series as soon as possible, as well as whatever else she has out there. She is now on my favorite author and one click list. Loved it!!!

Mayhem ( A Twisted Hearts Love Story#2)
By: Autumn Sand
4 out of 5 stars
Mayhem is the second book from Autumn Sand in The Twisted Hearts Love Story. Bedlam the first book was awesome. Mayhem is mind blowing. The title prepares you for the drama, twist and turns you will experience reading this book.
Tick ( Dante) was introduced to us in Bedlam. I got a taste and wanted to know so much more about him. Ms Sands did not disappoint me. Tick is plagued by demons! Ghosts of loss from his past of losing his Fiancée and unborn child. That loss has controlled his life. The pain has not lessen as the years past. Joining the Marines taking on dangerous missions that has earned him gold medal awards has not taken the grief. Alcohol and faceless women is his medicine of choice.
Life for Cyma hasn't been easy. Ups and downs and hard times continue to follow her. She has had to fight everyday to survive and live. Cyma life is defined by heartache and struggle. Because of the knocks of hard life Cyma has trust issues. Cyma only knows to depend on herself. She refuses to let anyone to add to her pain. So when Tick comes to her rescue Cyma does not stick around to open up and trust Tick.
Tick and Cyma path cross days later. The attraction has only intensified. Cyma doesn't want to trust this handsome, dangerous and sexy man. She can smell the danger on him but the pull is to hard to resist. Tick isn't giving up. Cyma can try to deny the truth, she can try to run and lie to herself about what she is feeling. Both have ghost and secrets from the past that continue to haunt them daily. Can a Twisted heart heal? Can a twisted heart love? Can a Twisted heart open and except love?
Ms Sands has written a book full of drama, suspense, excitement , steamy sex, and violence. These ingredients come together to tell the story of Tick and Cyma. I highly recommend this book. You will not be disappointed. I suggest if you have not read Bedlam first that you do. Read Mayhem and find out what Ms. Sands can do with a Twisted heart.

Tick lost everything that sent him into a spiral the only way out was to leave it all behind but for the life of him he could never forget, he didn’t want to forget. Tick is the right hand man to Tony Delaney, boss of the mob, a man he would give his life for, this man was his family. He has everything he needs. Woman with no relationships, the occasional hook up is all he needs to satisfy is basic needs. Money and power go hand in hand. He is a good guy but has done some bad things, things that had to be done. One thing he never suspected would worm its way into his life and change it all. After hearing screams Tick finds himself driven with a primal need to protect, to save with everything in his being.

Cyma was taught at a young age that life is not full of roses. In fact it is full of pain, misery, disappointment and most of all pain. Happily ever after does not exist, at least in her world and certainly not from the men who were suppose to love and protect her. No in her life she has one thing and one thing only to live for in this world and that is her beautiful and strong daughter, Lelia. Lelia is her life and no one nor anything will touch her, she will fight with all her might to make that happen. Cyma finds herself being saved by one gorgeous and sexy man that threatens to turn her world upside down but she can’t go there, too much is at stake, she has too much to deal with and fight for. When this man shows her his true feelings she is left reeling, not knowing which way to turn.

Can Cyma give this man a chance? Can she safeguard not only herself but her daughter as well? Will Tick risk everything for the one thing he wants? Is the risk worth the reward? Will Cyma finally find a new way of life?

I felt for the main characters, Tick and Cyma. They both have had to endure heartache. This story is full of emotions that will keep you on the edge of your seat. I really enjoyed it. I am sure you will enjoy it to.

Mayhem by Autumn Sand

Mayhem by Autumn Sand is Book #2 in the Twisted Hearts Love Story book series. This story is what I would consider a modern mafia romance, if that's a genre. I give this book 5 stars. The story follows Danté, who is known by the nickname Tick, who had some major losses early in life, joined the military, then upon leaving the military he found a job as the right-hand man to a mobster. Danté comes across Cyn, a lady with a complicated life, that he instantly wants to protect and that reminds him of someone he lost years ago. Cyn struggles financially and emotionally, due to being a single mother of a young daughter with leukemia and also being indebted financially to a rotten bar owner named Wheeler. This book follows Tick and Cyn as they instantly feel a strong connection to one another and as she tries to continue being a strong independent woman while he tries to be her and her daughter’s protector without having to destroy every bad man she has ever encountered.

Mayhem is Book 2 of the Twisted Hearts Love Story series, but it is not necessary to read Book 1 first in order to enjoy the story. I actually didn't realize it was part of a book series when I picked it up so it can definitely be read as a stand-alone. The author did a wonderful job of showing all the emotions felt by the characters. They were relatable and felt very real. The characters’ strengths, flaws, happiness, worries, and sorrows, are all very well explained and well developed. The dialogue flowed well and this was a very easy enjoyable read. I enjoyed Tick’s romantic gestures toward Cyn, as well as the way he and his friends were all like family, with their teasing and joking with one another, but inevitably having each other's backs no matter what. I really liked this book and read it straight through without stopping. I'd recommend it to anyone wanting a romance with a little more grit. I look forward to reading more by Autumn Sand.

Mayhem is the second book in the Twisted Hearts Series by author Autumn Sand. This book, while it can be read as a standalone, would be more enjoyable being read in order, to get the full experience.
Tick is a good man who has had some tough breaks. As a young man he faces a loss nobody should that shakes up his world and sends him running to the Marines for years. Once he is out of the service he begins working for Tony Delaney and becomes his right hand man, while drowning his own pain in alcohol and faceless women. Tick is a natural born caretaker and no matter how much he tries to hide it always manages to surface.
Cyma has had a rough life also, being in an abusive relationship has taught her that the only person she can trust is herself, the people you love always end up hurting you, so you are better off alone. Cyma is the sole support for herself and her small daughter and she will do whatever it takes to survive. One day as she is on her way to work she is mugged in an alley; Tick hears her cries and comes to her rescue protecting her from the men that were out to hurt her. While grateful for Tick’s help Cyma quickly rushes away leaving Tick to wonder who is this woman who has thawed out his cold uncaring heart in such a short period of time.
As fate would have it, Tick and Cyma get thrown together once again and if anything the attraction they both felt has gotten far more intense. Will they be able to overcome their pasts? Will they be able to heal each other’s hearts and learn to love again?
Each time I read an Autumn Sand book I am transported to another place, one filled with the most interesting people with the most interesting problems. I am so glad to have found this series and I can’t wait for the next book to see what happens with the rest of the characters. I recommend this to anyone who likes their romance with a little mystery and action thrown in with their HEA.

We meet Dante aka Tick as an innocent young man on the verge of getting married to his high school sweetheart and becoming a daddy . Then tragedy strikes and it feels like my heart is being ripped out !

Tick never really got over the loss of his little family . I'm just grateful that he had the support and unconditional love of his folks. I don't think it was easy for them , they not only lost loved ones that day but to a degree they also lost their son .....

Now don't get me wrong Tick isn't a bad guy but he works for someone that's been known to be on the dark side . Again he's not a bad guy either . Let's just call this a grey area....

After a gym session he comes across Cyma and she's in trouble and fortunately he's there to help ....

Look Cyma has had it tough , she was married to total douche who then ups and leaves when their daughter gets ill. ...WTH dude ....you suck !? Anyway, poor Cyma is working 2 jobs to try and cover the medical bills and I desperation reached to a load shark and that's just made life harder and them just to add insult to injury her landlord is a pr@#$.
So you get the pic she has it tough .

Leila is just the sweetest and bravest little soul .
Cyma and Leila pulled at my heart stings and assured a real snotfest !

Tick can't get Cyma out of his system and he pursues her (#GOTICK#) Naturally she fights him tooth and nail but he has his way and soon enough he loose his heart to both his girls .
I love how he fights and protects his 2 girls .

These 2 have their bumps along the road but the road to a HEA isn't necessarily paved with roses is it?!

Mayhem might be Mafia like but it's also about those precious second chances we get in life .

Mayhem is Book Two on in the Twisted Hearts Series, but is a standalone read. It's a second chance romance, with a protective male doing everything in his power to win over the female he has claimed.

The author does a great job at portraying the heartbreaking emotions experienced by main character Dante aka Tick. tragedy strikes and we see clearly that even men break down in the face of loss.

Cyma hasn't had an easy life, and it shows in her reluctance to let Dante into her life. having faced her own tragedies, she doesn't back down from any challenge thrown at her, determined to make the best of things for her and her daughter.

Dante hasn't settled down since coming home from the marines. In fact, he's become more recklace than ever, searching out danger and the thrill of a fight whenever he can.

Dante stumbled across Cyma when shes in trouble, and he takes it upon himself to rescue her. he instantly feels that spark that hes been missing in life. He spends the next few weeks wondering about her, and hoping to see her again. Fate, or destiny, brings the two of them together again; but Cyma is still very reluctant. She doesn't feel she deserves to focus on her happiness when she needs to put her daughters first. Dante pushes and pushes, and just when he thinks he's getting close enough, she pulls away again.

What will it take for Cyma to trust that he isn't like the men in her past, or even the ones she's used to dealing with in her present? Will Cyma be able to help Dante heal from the tragedies of his past? Will Dante be able to handle all of Cymas baggage, and protect her from the dangers that might be lurking around the corner? Will they be able to save each other? I guess you'll have to read to find out! ;)

What a fantastic unexpected story! The first unexpected part was the prologue. I sure didn’t expect it to hit me right in my heart! The rest of the story continues to keep me falling for Autumn Sand's characters! I know there are a few that are deserving of their own book!
My first reaction to Tick was actually in Book One, Bedlam. Tick? Ewww that’s a nasty little bug. Thankfully there’s a better reason for this nickname. This story can be read as a stand alone but there are references to book one, not enough to make a reader feel lost. But who doesn’t enjoy a good series?!
So Tick is the main character in this story. He is a protective, loyal, “caveman”. He loves with everything he has. He experiences heart break at the beginning of the story which is what causes him to be him. Cyma is a woman struggling but surviving. She has made a few bad choices when she was beyond desperate. She works two jobs, loves with all her heart but has no self esteem or confidence at all. Tick rides into Cyma's life ready to protect and save her every chance he can. These two need each other like no other. However they need to get over their pasts before being able to live for the future.
At the end of the book there is a letter from the author, Autumn Sand, where she said this book was hard to write. There are a few situations that are hard to read. I don’t think they are necessarily triggers but even Cyma was a little frightened by the anger of those around her. Read with care.
This absolute best quote from the book may just be my new motto:
“No one is perfect and no one’s life is a fairy tale. We just hope to have those fairy tale moments from time to time.”
Highly recommend this book, series and author!

Mayhem by Autumn Sand
5 stars

Mayhem was the first book I've read by Autumn Sand and I was blown away. So much happens in this book but I never felt it was too much. I was gripped from the beginning and wasn't able to put the book down. This is the second book in this series, but can be read as a standalone. Told in dual POV of the two main characters, you get to see all aspects of the story from the person you're wanting at the right time.
Dante aka Tick, suffered the worst loss on the day that should've been the happiest of his life. He joins the military and tries his hardest to run into danger as often as possible. Back home he is now in with a fa!I'll trying to stay above the law now. When he hears a woman begging to be left alone, he springs into action. He can't get the woman, CYMA, out of his head. When he happens to run into her again he decides he will do anything to keep her around. But when he finds out her situation, will he turn away or will he be the man she needs and the man he is deep down?
CYMA has had a hard life and when life threw a curve ball she did what she thought best and made a deal with a loan shark. Little did she know it was worse the more she needed. Working 2 jobs, she's barely able to make ends meet, much less pay her debt. When she gets help from a stranger, she can't forget him even days later. As she gets to know him she finds herself trusting him with everything. When he pulls through for her in the biggest way, he does so despite his safety risk. Can they have a happily ever after?

I loved this book and will be going back to read the first in this series as I loved the two characters in this book when they made an appearance. Will be recommending this book often!!

Mayhem by Autumn Sand is the second book in her “Twisted Love Story” series. It follows up from the previous book, “Bedlam”. I was so excited to continue on with these characters I fell in love with and new ones that I was introduced too. Thinking I was continuing with the first set of people, I was surprised it was with the other lead from Bedlam, Tick. Tick is a hot, alpha ex marine who I adored. He is full of personality. I really loved seeing a whole other side of him. Finding out exactly how he became Tick and what that name entails. Of course we all have to have a leading lady. That would be Cyma. Not sure how it was to be pronounced but I went with “SEE-MA”. Very pretty. Now, Cyma has been dealt with a horrible hand and she wants nothing more than to right it. Having a daughter that is really sick and in need of round the clock treatment, she will do anything at all costs to help, support and love her with everything. She wasn’t looking for a happy ending for her, she just wanted that for her daughter. What she doesn’t expect in her trying to make ends meet is getting swept in a world of loan sharks and gangsters. Of course, I doubt no one really wants that route, but when you need help quick your options tend to be limited. That is how Tick and Cyma cross paths, she is just the damsel in distress at a time where Tick is. He had so much heartache long ago, it has stuck with him to be the better man that is deserved and Cyma was the lucky woman. To have a relationship like that, to have someone go above and beyond is something wonderful. There was not a moment where I wanted to put this book down. I was sad to see it end. The brighter side is knowing this series continues and I will get to see them along the way.

Mayhem is the second book in the A Twisted Hearts Love Story series and it is definitely not a stand alone book in my opinion. You need to read the first one to understand what is going on in the story and where they are today. Autumn Sands writing gets me in trouble I start the book with the intention of reading a few chapters then going on about my day next thing i know I am 21 chapters deep and it's 2 hours past when i should be going to bed. That is just how good these stories are and her writing style is phenomenal.

Tick aka Dante a recent high school graduate, is set on marrying his school sweetheart and mother of his unborn baby.Except tragedy strikes on the way to the ceremony and not only does he lose his soon to be wife and child he loses his in-laws who he loved dearly as well. He joins the Marines to escape his grief and the Mafia as muscle soon after. He doesn’t need anyone that’s what he tells himself just temporary distractions. Until one day he hears her screams on his way home from the gym. She’s beautiful and she’s trying to fight off two would be robbers. After saving her he should be done right except he can’t get her out of his head.

For Cyma it’s everything she can do to keep her head above water. Her daughter’s leukemia isn’t getting better with treatment she is behind on rent and Wheeler keeps jacking the interest on her loan. That is the only reason she agreed to dance in Wheeler’s club the night of his party the last person she expected to see there was Dante, and for him to ask her out to dinner he must want something. Little does she know the only thing Dante wants is her and Lelia’s love.

Mayhem (Twisted Hearts Love Story #2) by Autumn Sand was a pretty okay read, full of drama, romance, and heavy feels.

My first read from this author, I went in with an open mind as this book is a little out of my comfort zone. The plot line was good, the opening was a right kick to the feels, what a heavy way to start a book. I have to say, I don't know if it that was the right choice. Not that is wasn't well written or interesting, it just sets a specific heavy tone for the book, and moving onto that 10 year later, the tone shift didn't unfortunately, work for me.

Now the MC's weren't bad but I did have a problem with Tick at the start. His first meeting with Cyma wasn't, for me, all that connecting or, good. Yeah sure he saved her and all, but hell, afterwards he was acting worts then the thugs. He was drooling over her, right after the poor girl had a traumatic experience. I don't know what the author was going for, but I personally found it creepy and it left a bad taste for Tick.

Moving forward, I fell more into this read, and when the plot picked up, things got interesting, and intense. The writing is hooking, and despite my misgivings about Tick at the start of the book, I couldn't stop reading. The plot elements were great, and the ending was sweet, bringing the story full circle. It was nice to see, and it help redeemed Tick.

Overall this book is a recommendation from me, and take my stamp of approval that you my like all the things I didn't, but as I have said, the story itself is great, just needs a little find tuning.

Happy Reading

Mayhem by Autumn Sand is the second book in the twisted hearts love story series. It is considered a stand-alone book but I do suggest reading the first as those characters are mentioned in this book. From the very first page this book grabs hold of you and doesn’t let go. Get ready to buckle up for an emotional rollercoaster ride in this story about Tick and Cyma.
Tick is his bosses Right hand man in all things, he’s experienced heartbreak that no man should have to. He’s a protector through and through. The day he meets Cyma is the day he becomes alive again and realizes what’s been missing. Can he get her to trust him with her secrets?
Cyma Spends her days working herself to exhaustion trying to keep her life from falling apart around her. She gets in over her head but is fiercely independent. She feels a connection with Tick but can she let go enough to let him in?
Autumn Sand writes a story with raw emotions that leave you feeling Like you just lived the life of her characters. This book has some hard subjects that may not be for everyone but she writes them in a way that make you cheer for the survivor. I give this book Five stars for the way she made me really cheer for Tick and Cyma, they go through some very real-life problems and you just fall in love alongside them. The story is set in both Tick’s and Cyma’s point of views, it flows nicely with just the right amount of twists to keep you hooked.

Mayhem is the 2nd book in the Twisted Hearts Love Story series by Autumn Sand. Although there are recurring characters, each book can be read as a standalone. I had not read the first book Bedlam before reading Mayhem and did not feel that I was missing any key parts to the story. Although, now that I have read Mayhem and really enjoyed it, I’d like to go back and discover Tony and Anaya’s story.
Dante (or Tick as he’s also known) is Tony’s right hand man. He still hasn’t got over the death of his beloved pregnant, fiancée Kayla, in a car crash on their wedding day 10 years previously and subsequently the death of prematurely born Dante jnr.
Cyma is a struggling single mum, who is juggling 2 jobs, one as a stripper, to help pay of the debts she has with loan shark Wheeler. Debts she has risen up in order to pay for the healthcare of daughter Leila who is battling Leukaemia.
A chance meeting brings Danta and Cyma together and Dante is totally smitten. He will do anything, and I mean anything to make life better for Cyma.
This book is dark and gritty and will drag you into it’s grip from the very beginning. It has so much emotion and so many twists and turns that will keep you glued to this book and you will not want to put it down. I loved it so much. I already have the 3rd book in the series ‘Bonded’ on my kindle waiting for me and I can’t wait to see what the author has in mind for Magnum and Brenda.

I give 5 stars to

Mayhem by Autumn Sand

This is the second book in the Twisted hearts love story series  and wow I'm hooked beautifully written. I've been sucked in and can't get enough.

Dante and Kayla were childhood sweethearts he was captain of the football team and she was head cheerleader a perfect match made in heaven until their prom night changes everything all the plans they had for college and university and another blow changes their future.  Can Dante recover and start living again.

Tick (Dante) joins the Marines after his years of service he ends up with a job being Tony's right hand man.

Walking from the gym one day he hears a female scream from the alley and goes to investigate and he sees a beauty of a woman being mugged after being her knight in shining armour he can form a sentence getting his head together he pushes  for a date.  Cyma having zero luck in life right now doesn't need another alpha male in her manic life.  She thanks him and makes her getaway.  Praying the bus goes faster as she has to be on time to pay wheeler.  Tick never far from her mind.  She focuses on what's important,  paying the bills and keeping a roof over their heads.

Again one night they meet again.  Will tick get his happy ever after.

Will Cyma get a break from all the bad in her world and the chance at love again will she allow herself to love and trust again.

Oh no, I will warn you that this story starts off in a heartbreaking way. It grabs your attention right in the first chapter- hard. Mayhem is book two in the Twisted Hearts Love Story series by Autumn Sand. I didn’t read book one and I wasn’t lost or confused so it totally can be read as a stand alone.

I love Cyma’s sass and strength. I see that Tick wants to protect her and watch out for her, but love that before she met him she was doing the best she could with what she had. There’s a strength in her, to do whatever needs doing for her daughter, and I respect that. Her kid, Lelia, is just the cutest, too!

Dante (Tick) is a totally sexy alpha male just waiting for the right woman to come along for him to love on. He’s been stuck in the past for far too long, so I love seeing how she pulls him out of that. It’s like they are both helping each other. He’s all protective and romantic.

This is my first book I’ve read by Autumn. It flowed well, was interesting, and a little dark and gritty. It was also emotional and gripping (I may have cried once or twice). The characters were developed and interesting, including the secondary characters who I would like to read more about. Also, I thought all of their names were cool and unique. I also liked the cover. It had dial points of view and a happy ending. I would read more from this author in the future.

Mayhem is a standalone book, but it is the second book in the series. We are first introduced to Tick, the right hand to mob boss. Tick was not always a right hand man. After tragedy strikes Tick, he feels like there is nothing left for him to do. He is a man that has seen too much and hurt for way too long. All he need’s money, power and women. He does not want to keep the women though, his past is too strong a reminder for him to want anything more. One night he hears a female scream; driven towards helping a woman in need he runs to help.

Cyma just her bad luck that she is being accosted by two men that are trying to steal her purse with what little money that she has left. When this strange man saves her she is shocked and amazed all in one. She thanks him but she is in a hurry because she can not be late to work. She is shocked and beyond grateful that Tick stopped to save her. Cyma has had a rough life and believes there is no happily ever after for her.

Mayhem was a wonderful read; the first couple of pages had me in tears. I always love different POV’s and Autumn gives us that and so much more. While I was in tears I was happy for Tick the Alpha male to assert himself as Cyma’s protector. So many emotions from both Tick and Cyma, so much heartache. This book will keep you on the edge wondering what will happen next.

Mayhem by Autumn Sand is the second in the Twisted Hearts Love Story series. This is a standalone book and can be read and enjoyed separately from the other books in the series. The book is about Dante “Tick” and Cyma. Tick has been through a lot in his life and in the process lost much of what he cherished. Cyma is a single mom who is dealing with her own challenges. The two meet each other in the most unlikely of ways. Afterwards Cyma sees Tick as her knight in shining armor.
Tick is the right-hand man to Tony Delaney and still suffering after losing his fiancé and infant son ten years ago. Cyma works two jobs, has a small child, and is in debt to the wrong people. The two of them seem an unlikely pair but once they meet there is no going back. Tick is instantly taken with Cyma and will do anything to keep her in his life. Will the two of them defeat the odds?
I really enjoyed this book and now will be going back to read the first book in the series. Tick seems an unlikely family man. Once he is given the opportunity watch out world. He is strong, sexy, and caring. Cyma is tough, sassy, and beautiful. She doesn’t know how beautiful she is inside and out until meeting Tick. The two have a lot working against them but prove with the right person in your corner the world can be conquered.
