A former marine now turned corporate business owner, Richard "Rick" Thorne never did anything half-assed. He was an all-or-nothing kind of guy. Always had been. So giving his heart to the woman he loved was a no-brainer. She owned it, no question--until she ripped it from his chest and crushed it in the palm of her hand. And left him. Three years later just when he thought ...more

I'm not sure what happened to my original review because I read this book when it was first released. So I decided to read it again in preparation for reading 'Gabriel's Fire' Book 2 in the series.

Rewind ...

Three years ago, Rick Thorne was devastated by the sudden disappearance of his best friend and lover, Nylah James. She left a note, but to Rick it explained nothing and only amounted to words on a piece of paper. Nylah left because of insecurities and she returns because she needs a mystery

I have simply fallen in love with this author. I discovered this week that I had brought her previous two books but had not read them. After reading book One I immediately went on to book 2 and then lucky for me book 3 came out 3 days ago. I read all 3 books back to back.

The 3 stories are standalone but each book stars a character from the previous story.

What I love about this author is all her leading ladies are strong and sassy and all her leading men are alpha males, who love, cherish and pro

This is a quick-paced romantic suspense read that piqued my interest from the first page. For me the suspense was stronger than the romance, but it’s intriguing enough to carry the rest of the story all the way to the finish.

My main problem with the romance was Nylah. Her reasons for leaving Rick in the first place were weak and the way she (and disloyal Gabe) just expects him to get over his hurt got on my nerves. She’s pretty immature when it comes to Rick and there were times when I struggled
5.0⭐️I cannot tell you how thrilled I was to read such a meaty, well-written story. Ms. Burton has proven to be a superb storyteller IMHO. Further, I had become so inured to so many IR books that have had egregious editing issues, that I was flabbergasted to find that there were no editing or formatting problems in this book! Imagine that---it is attainable after all!

The book is regarding Rick's and Nyla's relationship, past and present. As their story slowly unfolds, the song, "Against All Odds

An excellent read though I wondered why the heroine, Nylah, felt it necessary to leave the hero, Rick, for three years!!! That was not made crystal clear. Though the chemistry between the two when they meet up is absolutely thrilling and HOT! The plot was excellent and leads nicely into the next romance - Nylah's twin with Rick's friend and work colleague. I was also somewhat disappointed that neither expressed their undying love though you know they are a couple and they had strong feeling for ...more

My first time reading this author and I was not disappointed. The beginning is what got me and never let me go. The story was well written, suspenseful and interesting. Burton writing was everything.
Editing was perfect. Yes the writing was everything just superb. The characters were well-developed. To
be separated from your twin at such a young age. I'm not part of a twin. But I'm extremely close to my sister and I don't know what I would've done had something like that happened to

To err is human...forgive divine!

Great story! Rick Thorne and Nylah James are indeed and explosive couple! Nylah err’d bit Rick can’t forgive; or can he?When it’s your soulmate, what choice do you have? There was no stone left unturned and Ms Burton gave great backstory on their past.
I’m glad Rick called Nylah out on her crap and how she broke his heart when just up and left there’s so much that’s great about this book and I can’t wait for the next book in the series! Gabe and Naomi, I know the

I enjoyed the suspense. The secondary characters were entertaining. However, I found the main characters mostly irritating. Didn't like the hero at all. I may give the next books in the series a look just because I did like the secondary characters. ...more

I received an advance reader’s copy (ARC) of “Love Hard, Love Deep” and read it while laying out on the beach in Carlisle Bay, Barbados. Let me just say it was HOT and it wasn’t from the sun and sand.

The story of Nylah and Rick is a story of forgiveness, redemption, and never ending love. It explores the unbreakable bond of sisterhood and an unfailing resolve that will leave you inspired. The characters will take you on a rollercoaster of emotions… I laughed… I cried… inhaled from suspense… and

Lotchie Burton’s Love Hard, Love Deep is a new romantic suspense that introduces The Men of Thorne Enterprises series.
Rick Thorne, owner of Thorne Enterprises, is a former marine no-nonsense kind of guy. He has built a successful company from the ground up starting out as a private investigator and transitioning into specialized consulting. His employees are all former military with special-ops training. He is still heartbroken, though he won’t readily admit it, over Nylah James who walked out o

Hard and fast

I enjoyed Nylah and Rock's story...they loved hard and fast..
Rick is a all in serious Marine....knows what he wants, commits, get his woman and put down like a Marine can...Nylah needed to see that...he walked the walk and stepped up....she was wishy washy..sure she lost her twin at an early age...she had insecurities,guilt,remorse....all she had to do was trust I am reserving my 5 stars for Gabe and Naomi's has to be grittier, complicated and complex...she's afte

Good story

I really enjoyed not only the character's but how it all came together at the end. The writing style, story, suspense and plot had me not putting this book down. I really appreciated that the story was about two people who loved each other but couldn't understand why circumstances made their life difficult. It was an interracial romance but that was not all it was..... js

Great Read!

I really enjoyed this book. Easy to read, no problems with grammar or typos. And, best of all great story, not just endless descriptions of clothing and gratuitous sex. I'm really looking forward to the next book in the series. I highly recommend this book.
