One couple must unearth the secrets of a small-town murder before it's too late.
A young couple from the city move to a small town, looking for a fresh start. They soon find their dream house in an old Victorian mansion and everything seems perfect, that is, until they experience strange supernatural occurrences linked to an unsolved mass murder from forty years ago. Unearthing the secrets buried within the mansion won't be easy. Can they solve the mystery in time, or will they face the same doomed fate as the tenants who came before them?
Take a terrifying journey into the new supernatural mystery thriller by best-selling author Roger Hayden, "The Haunting of Bechdel Mansion," where anything can happen, no one can be trusted, and doom awaits around every corner.
A Haunting of Bechtel Mansion by Roger Hayden really had me from the very beginning and it never slowed down. Fast paced, chilling, suspenseful, but then it just stopped! Ugh! What the heck? Wasn't expecting that at all. Took a star away for that. This is book one. Narration was excellent by Tia Rider Sorensen.
Great murder mystery Mary and Curtis buy Berchdal Mansion and move in Mary has a dream that she's been there before once there Curtis informs Mary there was murders committed there 40 years ago Mary starts to see things is she crazy or is she really seeing ......
I read the short little novella of only 96 pages which acted as a prequel to this Book 1 and the next... I'm not actually sure how far this goes. The cliffhanger at the end actually got me to buy the next book in this series, but I won't be reviewing that one because I didn't finish it. I got rather frustrated with the editing problems, and after learning that it, too, ends in a cliffhanger, I just didn't want to bother.
Let me say this... Roger Hayden is a talented author. The character development was top-notch and the storyline was gripping and exciting. He really had my heart racing in that last scene! My suggestion to him is that he should pull these books off the market, combine them into one novel, get a good content editor and a good line editor, and re-release these as one BEST SELLING novel, because I really feel that is what it would be. Talent like that shouldn't be wasted on these little books set in a series that are just going to irritate the reader.
Sorry if I'm offending anyone. This is just my humble opinion.
This is book one by title but to me it is the second book in the series. This is a paranormal thriller about a haunted mansion. In this novella the house starts to "come alive". Mary and Curtis are new to the town of Redwood and bought a mansion. They are fast discovering that neither are what they seem to be and they start going on the trail to solve it with the help of out of this world help. I love these types of books!
First time reading this author and I’m very pleased I chose to give this book a chance! Once I sat down to read this story, I couldn’t put it down, it had me sitting on the edge of my seat with the suspense of the plot. It’s a great view in to what power can do to some people. It’s a wonderfully written story full of mystery and suspense, well worth the time to read it. I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.
I have submitted this review after listening to the audiobook of this title within the series set box entitled "The Mansion Hauntings Super BoxSet." (Audible)
The house is reacting, and thankfully, the young wife, Mary, has psychic abilities to speak to spirits and see past events.
They gain an ally, although they also seem to have lost another to a murderer.
Can they solve the secrets that had caused the deaths of so many all those years ago.
The first book in the series,it leads you the reader, into the deep mystery of the mansion. The story contains a decades old unsolved mass murder, a creepy town, and a new possible murder. Warning the story is a cliff hanger so get all of the series, because you will want to find out what happens.
Book 0 is very weak, but here in book 1 the story really takes off. Enjoyable plot development and subplots as well. It because really fun and it is well worth sticking with.
The story was good but then it just stopped. I wondered if part of the book got cut off, but no apparently it was written that way. It needs an ending. (And a proofreader/editor)
This title caught my attention because my mothers maiden name is Bechtel....i found myself totally engrossed in the story and read straight through to the end...I loved it!!! But now i have to wait for the next book....write fast Please
A quick read that left me wanting more. The author provides clues as to who the culprits might be but in cliff hanger style leaving me anxious for the next book so I will know who done it and whether the inhabitants of the mansion will get the resolution they seek. Certainly a page turning read that's perfect for anyone who enjoys a well written paranormal, haunted house read!
This is the 2nd of the Bechdel books I have read now. The premise is interesting, but just not quite enough to keep my attention. I read the 2nd book to give the series another chance, but I don't think I'll read the next book. The writing was not terrible - I've certainly read worse - but it could definitely benefit from a good editor. All in all a good story that needs some strengthening.
Loved the book, excellent mystery. However I dislike cliff hangers. I will most definately order book 2 because the story is intriguing but if it ends the way this one did so will my reading. The ending was just to abrupt for me. If that isn't a problem for you I highly recommend this book.
Loved this book a good old fashioned ghost/mystery
There are a few words that are not needed misused, but the story is good. I was able to fully see and incision all of the people in the book. Mary is my favourite. She is really up to her neck in the mystery surrounding her new home.
The mystery continues as Mary Malone tries to find the truth behind the murders in Bechdel Mansion. She is finding out the lengths the townspeople will go to protect themselves. Her husband Curtis is reluctantly helping, as is another medium, Theo. This is a very good book and I can't wait for the next one in this series.
This is the second book in this series & I loved it as much as the first! The plot is gripping with twists & turns that keep you turning the page! I can't wait to read the next book!
*Again, as noted in my review of the first book, there were numerous errors such as misspellings of or missing words, but they didn't detract so much that I couldn't enjoy the story.
However, that is not exactly how esp works but is as good an explanation as any. I was enjoying the story when all of a sudden it was done! I often lose interest when that happens.
Really good read...couldn't put it down. The book doesn't have an ending but promises a second book coming soon. Little disappointed I have to wait but something to look forward to.
I really wanted to like this, the description made it sound super interesting and something I'd like. Honestly, I felt like it wasn't finished. It jumped around quite a bit and left you hanging with nowhere to go.
That do not contain the whole story from beginning to the conclusion . Partial books do not a story make! Finish the darned book already! Great writing but not enough content. Sorry it's rude I want an ending.
Have enjoyed the books so far but am a tad disappointed I have to wait to see what happens in the next book. It's like the end of a season on a show you love and you are sitting there on the couch with your mouth open saying "No, it can't end like this!!!" Looking forward to next book!
