I read this after reading how it influenced Shirley Jackson in many of her works according to Shirley Jackson, A Rather Haunted Life. It did help me to decipher many of her allusions. For instance, James Harris has a cloven heel. His was the name she used in The Daemon Lover, and other stories So now I finally figured THOSE stories out.
And The Lovely House, that she did ages to Dylan Thomas, with whom she supposedly had a tipsy make out moment on the porch with, where she included a mosaic dedic
