This is well-written tackiness with dubious morality and ethics. You have been warned. Also, trigger alert: death of an infant from SIDs.

Second chance story that opens a week before the heroine is set to marry OM. The H, heroine's ex-husband, has been called from Italy by the h's mother. She thinks the h is making a big mistake and wants the H to talk her out of it.

Okay that's bad enough - but there are elaborate wedding preparations going on, the snobby in-laws visiting, and the heroine meeting with landscape gardeners for her new house - all while she is pining over the hero and he is ladling on the Italian charm. Nothing fits together. None of these characters are acting like real people:

The OM isn't jealous of the hero.
The OM and h are both divorced and have never slept together.
The OM's mother is openly hostile to the heroine.
The h's mother is actively sandbagging a wedding that is costing a fortune.
The H is showing nothing but love and kindness to the confused heroine (until they almost have sex in the heroine's new house - then he turns on her).
The heroine, after four years, still blames the hero for their son's death. (At three months he stopped breathing in his sleep.)
The heroine cries all the time, acknowledges she loves the hero, but CAN'T DECIDE about the wedding?

Good Lord - At this point in the story, I was at the end of my patience with this cheating coward of a heroine.

Hero walks out after the heroine calls a halt to their lovemaking for the *second* time. Then - and only then - does she decide to cancel the wedding.

OM is PERFECTLY FINE with that.

Who ARE these people? And Good Lord - OM's a stick figure of a man.

Hero meanwhile, goes back to Italy to find another wife and to sleep around.

A year later, heroine has resolved her issues (We don't know how - we're told, not shown) and is going to ask the hero for a second chance. He's rude and nasty at first, but he eventually agrees. The last scene is their wedding with the heroine pregnant. HEA

There was so many gross moments in this story. The mother going behind her daughter's back "for her own good." The hero still feeling married to the heroine even though he had been sleeping with countless woman.

And the cheating! It was *on the page* in front of me - twice. There was no penis in vagina penetration, so heroine doesn't feel she totally cheated - just kinda cheated. God. But as the hero pointed out they both orgasmed. And he doesn't feel guilty about cuckolding the OM because he hasn't made promises to the OM while the heroine has.

Hey, I hate him, too.

This is not what I want in an HP.

It was an intense emotional second chance at love story about two people who loved each other deeply but with the death of their 3 month old son everything crashes down, they get divorced and now its been 4 years h is marrying other guy,h mother feels she is committing a mistake by entering a marriage when she is still living in her past so she calls her ex son in law-H to come n try to convince h to call off the wedding. The only thing i liked is how H makes h accept and come to terms with their child's death but i did not like the way characters were developed. As always h is celibate and H had many other women.

-H was such a hypocrit here he says in his heart they were never divorced so what about those other woman he slept with after the divorce and second time when they were seperated for 8 months there were other woman and he was thinking of getting married and have loads of kids.I wanna ask if his feelings run so deep how can he go and sleep around and when he sleeps with h he shows his disgust and condemns her cause inspite of being engaged she slept with him, what does it says about himself?

-I dislike very much when people says hurtful things about anyone's financial background, here h is from a well to do family and H is from a poor background, his father died and mother did all she could to provide for her children( there are all in all 5-6 children) but he works hard and pulls his family from poverty and now he is a tycoon,in one of the fights she says how he came from a poverty and now that he is rich he always wants to show off:(

-Never once did he says sorry for saying hurtful things and being cruel to h,he has realization that h does not deserve the ugly treatment that he is giving, but will he say sorry nope.

Overall an okay read for me

A good read.
The passion between them is a forbidden thing so hot that the air vibrates.
Nico is a hot sexy man trying to win back his ex-wife before she remarries. Chloe is a scared woman afraid of being hurt again and hides her head in the sand.
The author does a wonderful job showing Chloe's emotion as she heads to an emotional breakdown....she is so wrecked by all these emotions and things she has not dealt with that she is coming apart at the seams.....pretty intense.

This was just so sad, they loved each other so much and stuff just went wrong, I don't think I could blame them for not knowing what to do and growing apart. Eventually the heroine rushes into another relationship after divorce and then her ex husband our hero comes on the scene making things appear in the correct order and sorting out their emotional past. It was all together very good.

Chloe drove me nuts with her indecisiveness until the last minute! Nico had to show tough love to make Chloe realise he's worth risking for.

Their lost child and his mother's last words made me tear up. It's heartbreaking to lose a child and the recriminations and blaming was real ugly. Both parties said hurtful things in their moments of anger and sadness, but somehow Chloe came across as the meaner one!

Baron was a really nice guy, which was what made it so difficult for Chloe to call off the wedding and risk losing him in her life, while Nico did not promise her a new beginning or second chance.

I loved that she took charge of her own life before seeking Nico out. Like he said it's past time he and her family stop pampering her such that any set backs in life made her retreat into her tortoise shell and not want to live and risk life.

The book was set in both Vancouver and Verona...gorgeous! Chloe's mother and grandmother were a hoot!

Not a typical HP - the h cheats on her fiancé with H who is her ex-husband. Since H has to be rich when he gets his story, within less than 4 years went from owning nothing to a Lamborghini, Bugatti and a Ferrari! The h and H meet again just a week before h marries and H is trying his hardest to seduce her and jilt the other guy. He succeeds in that they orgasm but don't technically have sex(still cheating in my book) then the h jilts but in all this the Other guy never complains in fact tries to blame himself for not letting h go! By this time H leaves to go back to Italy to find someone to marry and h tries to 'find' herself and then after almost a year they meet up for a HEA that involves her not asking any questions about the other women in H's life that he admits to, giving up on her condo and job and moving with no job to Italy with a few of her cherished possessions and waiting on H until he marries her again - all in the name of 'surrender' and 'love'

When I was going through my reading funk I tried reading this and other books similar to "harlequin". Guess I wanted something along the line of library books. But I gotta finish it so I put it on Goodreads so it's glaring at my face to finish it...eventually jk more like sooner rather than later.

Update 7/12/13

Not bad, but like all harlequins I read they're alright. :/

Chloe's wedding is supposed to be the social event of the year--but she's not looking forward to it. The reason stands over six feet tall and has an Italian accent and good looks as rich and dark as bitter chocolate: her ex-husband, Nico Moretti.

But Chloe is unaware that Nico is on a mission: he doesn't want anyone else to marry her, so he's going to tantalize and tease her until she admits she still has feelings for him. It's clear that Chloe still desires him--and he'll ruthlessly exploit that...because he desires another chance with his wife....
