The man she wants is the one she must deceive.

Seattle Steam Book 2

Christy Wallace may be a respectable Seattle Spanish teacher, but she s got a sultry side. She lets it come out to play during the summer, when she moonlights as a Salsa dancing instructor.

Sexy, cowboy Adam wants more time with her than just a fleeting cup of coffee, but she makes it clear that if he wants her, he ll have to sign up for dance class. Amazingly enough, he does. And Christy finds herself falling for a charming country hick with hands as fast as his feet.

Adam s no hick, though. He s the owner of Adam s Apples, the fastest-growing cider business in eastern Washington. To his own surprise, one night with her has him thinking in terms of forever. That is, until he walks into a restaurant for a family lunch and finds Christy on the arm of his brother.

Is there a logical explanation? Or is something rotten in Seattle?"

This was a well-written book, with some hot moments between the H/H. I liked the hero, Adam, and for the most part I liked the heroine, Christy, but I really had a problem with Adam's brother (and Christy's best friend) Nate, and that really affected my enjoyment of this story.

Christy Wallace is a 24 year old Spanish teacher and part time Salsa dancing instructor living in Seattle. She meets a sexy cowboy from eastern Washington at a coffeee shop, and he asks her out but she has to teach a dance class that evening. She invites him to come to her class if he's interested in seeing her. She's surprised when he shows up and they have a great time together. Looks like her love life may be heating up, even though Adam, the cowboy and millionaire apple cider entrepreneur, will only be in town for a week. Should she just let him get away without seeing where their attraction may lead?

After asking her best friend Nate for his advice, she decides to throw caution to the wind and has a wild and steamy night with Adam. Things are looking up. But then Nate asks her for a favor. His conservative small-town parents and brother are coming to town for the week. Could Christy please pose as his girlfriend so his parents will get off his back about not being married? Christy agrees to help him out--after all, it's only for a few days, and what harm could come of it? And Nate is her best buddy after all...

Imagine Christy's surprise when Nate's parents and brother arrive, and the brother is...Adam, the guy she's starting to fall for. And imagine Adam's dismay when he finds out the woman he's been making love to is his brother's girlfriend. What's going on?

*********Possible Spoilers Ahead***************

I absolutely did not like how Christy's best friend, Nate, used her in this book. It's very hard to give my opinion of this book without revealing a few spoilers, so here goes. Christy and Nate were never boyfriend and girlfriend, and never would be. Nate had a big secret, one he didn't want his family to know, and used Christy and her feelings for him to avoid being honest with his family. And when he found out how much Christy cared for his brother (who he was very jealous of), it still didn't matter to him. He continued to use Christy and forced her to uphold her promise to him. After Christy caught him in a couple of lies about WHY he couldn't reveal his big secret to his family, I thought the promise to protect his secret should be called off. But Christy was ever loyal, even though it was hurting the guy she was falling for and who was falling for her. Adam felt very guilty being with Christy, even though she assured him that she and Nate had problems, had never been intimate, and were on the verge of a break-up. She wanted him to trust her. I know if I was Adam I wouldn't trust Christy, but he continued to hang around, because he thought maybe they could have something together.

Well, of course it all came to a head with a big misunderstanding on Adam's part, and he accuses Christy of being a gold-digger. Feelings are hurt, Christy takes off, Nate's 'secret' is finally revealed, and Christy and Adam quickly patch things up.

I don't know what to add, except that I liked Christy's personality for the most part (she was sweet and fun-loving), but at times I thought she was incredibly naive and immature, and I had trouble respecting her. She should have stood up to Nate and not let him use her, especially when she found herself falling for Adam. That made me not respect her, and when I can't respect the heroine it's hard for me to like her. And if I can't like the heroine then I have trouble liking the book. Which is a shame, because I like the author's writing style and she generally tells a good story and writes some witty dialogue and some hot love scenes (nothing too over-the-top in this one). Too bad the characters disappointed me.

So all in all, a little disappointment with some of the characters, but not a bad read. Just wish I could get past Nate's selfishness and Christy's misplaced loyalty. I'm definitely looking forward to more from this author. 3 1/2 out of 5 stars.

This was a very easy and quick, very hot (not quite erotic), romance set in Seattle. It very loosely ties to the first in this series in that the coffee shop and owner were in this--briefly--for two coffee purchases. Other than that, this could be a stand-alone.

Some parts of the book frustrated me in that Christy's gay male-friend, Nate took advantage of her--big time. He asked Christy to pose as his long-time girlfriend because he didn't want his parents and older brother to know he was gay. There were a lot of lies that grew as the book progressed and I was gritting my teeth. There was absolutely no other suspense or plot in the book.

Both main characters were neat. Neither one of them had the standard character development to go through. Christy was a Spanish high-school teacher that was out for the summer break. She also taught one week of salsa dance. :-) Adam was a "fruit stand" owner that turned out to be a millionaire with a very profitable apple cider business.

Not sure why the author kept bringing up the fact that Christy bought most of her clothing at thrift stores. Or that she owned an old VW Bug that had no A/C and overheated, or she lived in a rundown area in a one room apartment...For me, it didn't seem relevant.

I didn't realize transformer toys were out 20+ years ago...the author indicated Adam and Nate played with them as boys...hmmm. Other than that, I thought it was well written and I enjoyed it. Would liked for it to have some suspense or other plot in it.

I'd like to add that there wasn't any dirty language in the book. The warning mentions it. And the blueberry scene was neat. I'm not sure this qualifies as an erotic. I'd put it more at Very Hot.

This story was an unexpected treat. I loved the predicament Christy finds herself in after agreeing to do a favor for her best friend Nate. Nate is gay and doesn't want to tell his family, so he convinces Christy to pose as his girlfriend. The problem is, despite her bad luck she finally meets a man that she feels a special connection to. Instantly, Adam and Christy hit it off and end up spending the night together. The last thing Christy expects is to meet with Nate's family while pretending to be his girlfriend, only to discover Adam is his brother. Now she's torn between outing her best friend, or blowing a future with a man she already cares for.

I read this book in under a day. It was fast paced, the characters were well developed, the sex scenes were smokin hot, and I it kept me interested throughout. It's a great read for someone who likes slightly erotic, comtemporary romance.

3.5 star read. Much, much better than the first book in this series. I still have one complaint, and that is why I can only manage 3 stars...the ending is way too abrupt. There no epilogue, no nothing just The End. For this reason, I will probably not read anymore books by this author.

I do have to say that if this rating was based solely on hot steamy sex, then this book is off the charts!!!! Even though I won't read anymore of her books, this one goes into the libido library!

This is the first book by Shelli Stevens I've read and I wasn't sure what to expect. It was a quick read, the love scenes were super sexy (The breakfast scene with the blueberries was just HOT!!) and I really enjoyed the Seattle setting.
The story starts out with Adam and Cristy meeting like people do and hitting it off instantly. The story gets interesting when Christy’s friend Nate, asks her to pretend to be his girlfriend because he’s not ready to come out of the gay closet to his family. Surprise, surprise Adam turns out to be Nate’s brother.
I liked Adam and Christy. They complimented each other perfectly. I liked the way Nate was portrayed as the "villain" of the story. While Nate is annoying in his selfish behavior, the author did a great job of keeping him realistic and the conflict believable.
I look forward to reading more from this author and recommend it to anyone looking for a sweet contemporary romance with deliciously (pun intended) sweet love scenes.

This is book 2 in Stevens Seattle Steam series and can be read as a standalone. A well written romance. Our main characters are Christy and Adam. I love that Christy is both a sweet spanish teacher but also a sexy salsa dance instructor who meets the charming and sexy cowboy Adam. Both fall fast and hard but romance reads are never that simple and this one isn't either. Adam's brother Nolan who also is Christy's best friend has a secret that if not reveled could destroy any hope of a HEA for these two main characters. A steamy romance read that's easy to follow and captivating - Nolan is the character you can't help but sneer at but the things you do for family and friends....
Overall a good read and I'm excited for more in this series!

This is a spicy romance that I enjoyed reading. Christy's gay best friend, Nate, has begged her to pretend to be his girlfriend when his family comes to visit. As expected, the results are disastrous.

I loved Adam and Christy's characters, but found their flaws a bit off putting, specifically, that Adam acted on his attraction to Christy, his brother's girl, and Christy was a bit of a doormat for Nate, even to her own detriment. Despite this, this is an enjoyable romance with a bit of sizzle that fans of the genre will want to add to their TBR list.

I'd give this 3.5 stars, but am rounding up to 4 stars. This is the first book I've read by this author and I look forward to reading more of her work.

Tempting Adam is a terrific read. I love the passion and heat between Adam and Christy. The instant connection is amazing. Christy is an amazing friend to Nate and is only trying to help him out. When you realize who Adam is you question how long Christy is willing to help Nate for. Will she put her own happyness on hold until Nate can come clean. Christy and Adam are hot together. There are a few giggle moments and I just want to slap them a little for the half truths coming out. I enjoyed this one. Watching the fight of falling between Christy and Adam is so much fun to watch. I couldn't put this one down.

TEMPTING ADAM is the second in Shelli Stevens’s Seattle Steam series. Christy Wallace and Adam Young meet by chance and find they share some heated chemistry. Because of a commitment Christy’s made to her best friend, Adam finds himself questioning their possible connection, and Christy feels powerless to explain.

Shelli Stevens has written a very engaging, emotional story, although I did spend time wanting to throttle Christy’s friend, and to a lesser extent wanting Christy to extricate herself from her promise sooner. Overall an entertaining read, and a fun addition to this Seattle based story.

This is definitely one spicy book! The chemistry between Adam and Christy was off the charts. I enjoyed how they met and their flirtations. I loved how she stood up for herself with Adam and Nate in some scenes going for what she wanted, fit in with their parents, but wish she held her ground a little more forcing both Adam and Nate to respect her more. Her relationship with Nate, her best friend, was a little strange when he was not up front with her. Overall the story flowed at a great pace and ended with a insta-happy ever after.

I received this book in exchange for an honest review from the publisher through Netgalley.

I couldn't get into this book at all. I couldn't connect with the characters. Ther relationship kind of felt forced. I didn't like the secondary characters. Nat is supposed to be Christy's best friend but he treats her very badly. The writing was good. I loved the descriptions and the flow was good. It is a very quick read.

Sorry but this book wasn't for me.

I had high hopes for Tempting Adam, as I really enjoyed the first book in this Series. This book was such a disappointment, that I can only give it a 2.5 rating. Adam and Christy's relationship had a twist that could have played out well, but the story line didn't live up to its potential. Their relationship was built on lies and selfishness, and I lost interest.

Madison was the owner of the coffee shop and asked Christy if she wanted a wet cappuccino. Christy’s attention had been on the intriguing man standing in front of her at Ooo La Latte. She was a regular here. Her imagination went into overdrive about said man. Then the man asked her what the difference was and she told him. Christy had been attracted to men before but never this quick. Two years without sex, she needed to get laid. She was flirting, her friend Nate would be proud of her. He asked her what her name was and said his was Adam. Than he asked her out to dinner. She could give him some lessons in espresso. Then she said she couldn’t as she had a different type of lesson she had to give. Than she asked what she taught and Christy said salsa dancing. But only when she wasn’t teaching HS students Spanish. He looked impressed and amused at the same time. Then he asked where she was teaching and she gave him her card with the information. Afterwards Nate called and she told him about meeting Adam. He was gay and asked if Adam was for him or her. At her salsa class Adam had showed up. Adam didn’t care about Salsa dancing , what he did care about was getting to know the woman better he was dancing with. Adam said he’d be back the next night for a lesson. He told her as he walked her to her car he wasn’t from Seattle, he was there for one week. Adam knew he wasn’t looking for a one night stand with Christy. But he told her he had a business there and came back often. Adam and Christy became lovers. He wasn’t one to cuddle or spend the night. Yet everything was different with Christy but why? Christy agreed to pretend to be Nate’s girlfriend for a week while his parents were there. She must meet his parents for lunch and then was introduced to Nate’s brother Adam. It was the same Adam she had slept with the night before. Than Nate called and asked her to spend time with his family. She reluctantly agreed and then Nate had to go to work unexpectedly. She ended up in Adam’s truck to go to catch the Ride The Duck tour. Adam couldn’t seem to stop himself from touching her. He was like a smoker trying to quit , but always seems to always go back for another cigarette with the promise of just one more time. He’d been there already. Giving up smoking was a breeze compared to giving up Christy. It was like he was addicted and after just one night.
I truly enjoyed this book. I loved Adam and Christy together and how they interacted. But I think Christy should have been honest with Adam. He would have probably understood from what we know of him from this book. Nate should have been honest sooner but I did understand coming out to his family was really hard for Nate. But it was who he was. I loved how Nate and Adam’s parents liked Christy even though she and Nate had lied to them. I loved how their parents set Christy up to stay at Adam’s house. I was very disappointed with what Adam said to Christy about being a gold digging floozie. I liked the plot and pace. I loved the characters and the ins and outs of this book and I recommend it.

This is the second book in the Seattle Steam series. The first one ROCKED and I loved it so much that I immediately added book 2 to my kindle as soon as I finished the first book. The first book was a 'can't put down' read. TOTALLY. The second book spins off with a side character from the first and her experiences in finding true love. Which of course, starts with a southern gentleman and some 'no strings attached' hanky panky.

I loved the beginning and how they met and where they went from there. But, the writing overall seemed less experienced than the first book. It is written by the same author and let me tell you she nailed the steamy scenes but the MC seemed a little flightly and had too much inner dialogue that told the reader vs. letting the reader infer the characters' thoughts on his/her own. [This very well may just be a me-thing but I dislike it when the character tells me what I should be thinking.]

I did love the southern drawl of the love interest in this story and his character in general. And I loved the bar scene. And, the bathroom 'in the bar' scene. Well, and a few other scenes as well *he he he*. I just felt this story was a little weak after such a strong read in the first book.

However, I don't want to leave the impression that you shouldn't read this book - you should - but read book 1 first. So that you understand the talent this author has. I'm just offering an honest review in the fact that I feel the second book lacked a little of her. It felt a little like a different author.

That said, you bet your britches I've got book three (Seducing Allie) on the kindle and will be delving into it this evening. And, I'm optimistic that I'll return with a raving review just as I did with book 1. :-) Happy Reading!!

I thought this book “Tempting Adam” from the “Seattle steam” series was okay. There was parts I liked and parts I found cringe worthy and the rest was steamy sex scenes.

It was instalove and the whole book was one big misunderstanding that ended in Adam saying things about and to Christy that he would never have said if Nate and Christy had told him the truth about their relationship. He became so confused that he became a person he really didn’t like.

I think Nate was a brat and I really don’t understand why he hates his family so much. They are the sweetest people you could ever meet and they were so welcoming, forgiving and understanding. There is no reason why they wouldn’t love him because he is gay.
Christy is his best friend but he totally uses her when he gets her to say yes to being his fake girlfriend so he can hide that he is gay in front of his family for a week while they visit Seattle. He knows she can’t say no to him.

What I actually liked was Christy and Adams building relationship if you look past her fake relationship with Nate. They are really sweet together and he even takes salsa lessons to get to know her. He is a total cowboy alpha male but he does so many sweet things for her and you can’t help loving them together.

I got this book from Entangled Publishing and Netgalley in exchange for an honest review.

.This is another Steamy one! If you get embarrassed by sexy scenes this is not for you. But, I loved it. I really did. Adam is the quintessential cowboy and takes what he wants. He's also a gentleman. I loved his go get her attitude along side taking care of her bit. He's really a great male lead. He's what most of us dream up in our heads as what a "real" man is. He's great.

Christy is super loyal. WAY more loyal than I'd ever be to be honest. I wanted to just slap her and say, "tell him already! It will be OK!" When she keeps a secret, she keeps a secret. Admirable but in this situation is almost cost her.

I love the plot here. Christy goes to spend time with Gabe's family and that's where they fall in love. I mean, lovin' it. It's slow and steady. The steamy scenes are well...hot. Be prepared!

I really loved this book. It had all the makings of a great love story but we also got some steamy scenes to really keep us warm at night. I'll be re-reading this one again for sure!

Note: there are explicit sex scenes here. For adults only.

I was looking forward to reading this book because it's set in Seattle. The author did a nice job with the setting. You could tell it wasn't just a generic idea of what Seattle is like.

Unfortunately, though, I found the characters to be unlikeable through most of the book. They had one night together in which they only talked about/acted on their physical attraction but then he mentions how she could possibly be the one. Also, I didn't like the way they acted and reacted when Christy was acting as Nate's girlfriend. I understand they were very attracted to each other but Adam touches and kisses her after thinking she's dating his brother. Even though Christy and Nate aren't really dating it didn't seem right.

The relationship between Christy and Adam felt kind of forced too. I didn't feel like enough of a connection was established for how intense they were with each other so early on after Nate introduces Christy to his family.

Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for providing an ARC for an honest review.

Tempting Adam by Shelli Stevens...Its the story of 2 best friends and what happens when one lies for the other but that causes a little bit of confusion and heartache. I liked the main characters although it bothered me a bit that Adam went along with things so easily, when he knew his brother was involved. I did feel Christy's heartbreak though and enjoyed that Ms. Stevens is able to convey the emotions (happy and sad) through her writing. I have read several of her books, and have enjoyed them.
This was an easy read. I've read Dangerous Grounds (another Seattle Steam book )and, even though the main character from that is in this book, it's not necessary to read it first.
If you get a chance, I would recommend reading Shelli Stevens. There's romance and love but the road to happiness usually has some bumps along the way for the characters but that makes is it that much sweeter.

3.75 Stars - I enjoyed this romance. The hero is great even though he’s fighting with himself for most of the story. The heroine is nice and beautiful and not conceited at all, but wimpy. More specifically, she is a doormat for her gay best friend, who also happens to be a selfish jerk. He takes full advantage of her kind heart and constantly sacrifices her happiness for he is own. The best friend moniker and her commitment to him could have been justified better, so the h doesn’t come off looking like a fool for putting up with his craziness. It could have been as simple as, him asking her to play along with the rouse and her being reluctant. Then the BFF could list several instances when she asked him to step up and do something silly and outrageous in the name of their friendship. Sadly, this didn’t happen and the h comes off as a wimp. I hate wimpy heroines.

I voluntarily read and reviewed an advanced copy of this book. All thoughts and opinions are my own.

Sweet love story between Adam and Christy. From the very beginning, they had a connection but Christy was hesitant to pursue it. She decides that if Adam shows up to her Salsa dance lessons, then there might be something worth pursuing. Not only does he show up, but he also thinks she is worth pursuing. The only hitch to their relationship is Nate. He is Christy's best friend and Adam's brother. Christy feels trapped and Adam doesn't know what to think. Every time it seems like they make progress, something happens to set them back. It is an enjoyable read but I wish there had been an epilogue to let me know what happened

Even though I liked book one in the Seattle Steam series (Grounds for Seduction), Tempting Adam is a much better read, but it did fall short on the ending. I was all prepped for the ease down from the final summit in the plot, however the story just seemed to end; it was a little disappointing. As this is obviously a series that Ms Stevens has written before her Holding Out for A Hero books, I’m glad that I was introduced to her writing a bit later, as the early books aren’t up to her current standards. Overall a good read but lacking any real conclusion to the story.

This was a very enjoyable book with a sweet love story and hot sex. I liked both Adam and Christy. But his brother, her best friend, annoyed me! He was an incredibly selfish guy and it really bothered me that he put his own desires above his brother and friend's when he saw that his subterfuge was interfering with their lives. Conflict erupted at the end in the form of a misunderstanding and name calling, and resolved too quickly, but that can be forgiven.

REALLY LOVED THIS STORY ADAM WAS SUCH A HOT ALPHA MALE AND CHRISTY WAS A PERFECT MATCH FOR HIM. I DISLIKED HIS BROTHER NATE WITH A PASSION, WHAT A HORRIBLE FRIEND HE WAS. IF I HAD A FRIEND LIKE NATE OUR FRIENDSHIP WOULD HAVE LASTED AS LONG AS THE FIRST TIME HE TRIED TO USE ME. I ENJOYED THE FIRST SEATTLE STEAM BOOK ALSO. LOOKING FOR A GREAT BOY-GETS-GIRL, HOT SEX, AND A LITTLE BIT OF ANGST, THIS SERIES WOULD BE PERFECT FOR YOU. MS. STEVENS CAN REALLY WRITE A LOVE SCENE. YEE-HAW!!!

After book 1 I expected to enjoy this one a lot more than I did. It started off well and I was looking forward to Christy and Adam's romance. But then it went downhill. I thought Nate was an absolute a*hole - some friend and brother! I was also really uncomfortable with Adam and Christy's relationship after the 'lunch'. Neither could hold their heads high in my opinion. May as well throw in Adam's parents too - their manipulation was creepy.
