When Robin heads to North Carolina with his boss to help design and build a new conference center, he has a bunch of surprises in store for him. The building site is in the middle of nowhere, his boss is being weirder than usual, and he meets not one, but two of the hottest men he’s ever seen in his life. If he can just get his boss Terry to leave him alone with them, Robin knows Casey and Travis could rock his world.
Casey and Travis might play, but they’ve never thought of mating with a third man. Their immediate need for Robin is something they don’t question, though. What they do want to know is how Robin can possibly be unaware he’s a cat shifter. Can they help Robin find the other half of himself and convince him he’s what’s missing in their relationship at the same time?
Texan to the bone and an unrepentant Daddy's Girl, BA Tortuga spends her days with her hounds and her beloved wife, texting her grandbabies, and eating Mexican food. When she's not doing that, she's writing. She spends her days off watching rodeo, knitting, and surfing Pinterest in the name of research. Following their own personal joys, BA and Julia heard the call of the high desert and they now live in the New Mexico mountains. BA's personal saviors include her wife, her best friends, and coffee. Lots of coffee. Really good coffee.
Having written everything from fist-fighting rednecks to cowboy daddies to werewolves, BA does her damnedest to tell the stories of her heart, which is committed to giving everyone their happily ever after. With books ranging from hard-hitting BDSM, to fiery passions, to the most traditional of love stories, BA refuses to be pigeon-holed by anyone but the voices in her head.
Walking into what looks to be a fairly seedy bar with his boss, Robin has just two wishes, one: he’d like a bacon guac burger and two: he really like to not get singled out as gay and beaten. Catching the eye of two drop dead gorgeous, yet rough around the edges, guys wasn’t anywhere on his radar, let alone part of the plan. Casey and Travis have been together their entire lives and are quite happy in their mating but when they go out for a bite to eat and instead find an attractive stranger they’d both like to sink their teeth into, the decision to take him home is a no brainer. The overwhelming attraction and instant connection the men all feel for one another is a pretty good indicator that they’re all mates but there’s one problem: adopted at the age of two, Robin has no idea of his true heritage and if Casey and Travis want to keep them, they’re going to have to let the cat out of the bag.
Its always a pleasure to read a well written ménage; having it feature a trio of sexy shifters was just a plus. :D I liked this one a lot; all of the characters had distinct personalities that nevertheless complimented each other nicely. Casey and Travis had this whole Alpha vibe going on but there was a lot of give and take in their relationship, which was nice to see. When Robin was added, it actually felt like their pairing was complete instead of a couple that just added one extra. All three men just worked for me from their professions to their interactions in and out of the bedroom. There was also a nice bit of variety on that front, which was also great.
I liked the story set up in general; the idea that Robin didn’t know what he was and the reasoning behind it worked for me while the fact that he didn’t have an easy time of it made the situation more believable. I had Terry figured out, both in what he was and his reasons for acting so odd, but that didn’t make his behavior any less amusing to me. Overall I thought this was a good start to a new series; there were a nice variety of shifters introduced so it’ll be interesting to see what happens in future books. If you enjoy ménage books that are a little on the wilder side of things, you might want to check this one out.
Shifters in general are fun, catshifters in particular are favorites of mine, and when a guy doesn’t even know he is a shifter until he meets his mates – a story has my full attention. And this one is not just particularly cute, it also has a few surprises and is scorching hot. Two of the guys are already mated and well aware of who and what they are, but with the third one trying to figure out what’s what and how to make sense of the immediate attraction he feels, this ended up being a very fun adventure and one hot romp.
Robin is a city boy, and when he comes to North Carolina with his boss to help design and build some sort of resort in the middle of nowhere, he does not know what to think. His boss is curiously vague about some of the details, the first two men Robin meets are beyond hot and seem interested in him, then his boss goes all protective and tries to chase them off. But Robin is his own man, has never been interested in his boss, and puts his foot down. He has no idea what he is in for, but he is certain that Casey and Travis are worth getting to know.
Casey and Travis have known each other since they were young children, mated when they were older, and did not expect to find a third man on a permanent basis. They know Robin is a shifter, and the fact that he doesn’t seem to have a clue confuses Casey and Travis to no end. This does not deter them from seducing him, and one thing soon leads to another. When the moon comes out, everyone is in for a big surprise, and I loved every second of it.
If you like catshifters with a sense of humor, if hot threesomes are your thing, and if you’re looking for a read that is as entertaining as it is hot, then you will probably like this novella.

By Design is the first book in the Southern Cats series by author BA Tortuga. I found myself having very mixed reactions to this book. I both loved it in places and hated it at the same time. I like character connection and chemistry; this book seems to lack that. Has a great storyline that pulls you in but the relationship itself really was conflicting. Casey and Travis are mates. They have never thought to bring a third in before. Robin is unaware he is a cat shifter. The men help him discover who he really is. And bring him into their relationship. I did not feel this relationship went smoothly. It was painful at times to read. I felt sorry for the people involved and at times was not really into the story. I would read more in the series maybe this being a first book it just needs a few places ironed out, that can happen in another story. But as it stands I am conflicted about if I really liked this one or not.
Ok. Liked the shifter world, the fated mates thing worked pretty well here. It felt like Ms. Tortuga couldn’t decide whether Terry, the hero’s boss, was a good guy or bad guy. In the end, this is a m/m/m story with a lot of sex.

Erotica with just a tiny bit of plot. B.A. recycles a lot of plot situations and this reminds me of another of her recent menage books where the bottom-boy third doesn't know he's a shifter until he connects with the mated pair. Regardless, this was full of scorching hot sex--and menage isn't even usually my thing. I think I like the shifter ones because the mates deal gives a loophole that doesn't take way from the original couple or feel like cheating on the union. There's no room for character development in the story and, as a matter of fact, I kept losing track of which was Casey and which was Travis. One very unfortunate (and unprofessional to me) issue was that, for a few pages, Travis was "Tyler". There were also a few other scattered editing errors, usually where a wrong close-to-correct word was substituted. It was a scintillating read, something for a guilty pleasure when you just want some smut. Which is totally okay!
Robin is off to help his boss with a construction project and runs across two hot guys. At first his boss is like go for it, then he's cock-blocking him left, right and centre. Finally he leaves and Robin is able to get his kit off with the two hotties who just happen to be the contractors. There's a hitch, Robin is clueless about shifters, or that they are building a shifter resort despite the fact that everyone knows he is one. He was raised by adoptive parents and for whatever reason never shifted. Needless-to-say, Robin is a bit freaked out when it happens, but eventually it all works out, everyone is happy and in a big kitty pile getting it on.
I found Robin's boss to be annoying at first. Why didn't he just explain to the other two guys what his concerns were rather than mysteriously trying to keep them apart half the time and seeming to shove them together the rest? Anyway, it was a fun little read if your in the mood for some m/m/m.
3.5 Tongue-in-cheek puntastic fun stars. Just cute. Channeled her friend Sean Michael a bit at the end, but I was good with it. Robin is one poor confused kitty. Luckily for him, he finds not one, but two guys to love him up and fuck him silly.
I even liked Robin's boss, Terry, despite his interfering ways. I am hoping she will revisit these guys.
Recommend you read this when you are in the mood for something silly and sweet, otherwise you might get annoyed.
When Robin goes to a new site with his boss, he meets Travis and Casey. They want him and make sure he knows. Travis and Casey recognize that Robin is a cat shifter even if he doesn't know it himself. At the first full moon after getting together with Travis and Casey, Robin shifts for the first time. Travis and Case help him and make sure he understands that he is their mate. Robin accepts his new life as a cat shifter and fully embraces being their mate.
Most of this book felt like an uncontrolled panic attack. It almost felt like the author had so many things that had to happen that they all got added in without concern for the pacing of the story. I was often confused as to whose POV was being used, and ended the book feeling slightly stressed - which mirrored Robin's emotions so maybe it was intentional...
So cute! So much fun! Adorable kittens :) I love it when shifter characters have quirks and character traits derived from their animal sides, and B.A. does it very well (like in Just Like Cats and Dogs)!
