A short book on the development of stamps, mainly in the UK in Victorian times, with a particular emphasis on the introduction of the first adhesive stamps. Early sections outline previous postage arrangements and mention key people involved. While there is nothing specially novel in the text, it does its job well. The beauty of the book is its extensive colour illustrations. There are a number of small misprints which proof-reading should have picked up.
