Holy crumb, guys. THIS BOOK. It's dark and there's definitely violence and it smothered me in inconvenient emotions when I was out in public places. That last part is really my fault, though. I should know better than to read a Stacy Gail book around people. I get twitchy and a little growly when random characters start to show their true colors and sometimes I get a tiny bit teary-eyed at the things that happen. My cold, dead heart only allows me to show emotion a small percentage of time, so i ...more
Expresso-Girls Just Wanna Have Books ; A Mafia Romance
Whoop whoop! This story is awesome. It's dark. It's Mafia. It's psychotic!

Dash and Polo are not the conventional couple. They've known each other forever but things were not easy for the dynamic duo. Kudos to the author for an adrenaline filled prologue! I did not see it coming! I wasn't ready! Just wow! From page one, the darkness surrounding the story is at 100%! No time for a breather. The events leading up to Polo's presence in Dash's life.....wowza! Definitely serious "feels" as I began to

This is part one of a two part series.

I love mafia and love dark romances so I was super happy to read this and the author certainly didn't disappoint me. This is so good. I really enjoyed it.

The story revolves around Polo and Dash whose families are mafia and at war. I found myself reading this in one sitting and after that ending I'm so glad I waited until I had both books on my kindle before I binged read. Now onto book two:)

Year of the Scorpio had me drawn to it from the very beginning my emotions were all over the place so be prepared , the characters will make you fell a lot of what they are going threw from start to finish , It is very hard for me to find a good mafia book and this is one of the good ones so you should really give it a chance . Stacy Gail is a new author for me, but while this is my first book, it most certainly will not be my last. I’m just so excited that I’ve found another author whose writing is smart, sexy and oh, so Alpha. I feel as if I stepped into the Russian version of the Godfather, complete with crime bosses, sacrifice and family loyalty. But this version also contains a sexy anti-hero that is fiercely protective and says all the right things.

This is a dark contemporary romance with violence. This mafia book is definitely not for the weak hearted. It has a lot of sexual content, and I would recommend this for adults only. Even though this book is very strong at times is has a lot of tear jerking moments that make the book all that more enthralling. This book ends with a cliff hanger and the cliff hanger is so sad. Makes me so mad, Dash deserves so much more.

Dash was raised in a Mafia family being her dad was the boss of the Vitaliev

This book ends on a cliffhanger, so be prepared, and while I avoid those stories like the plague, I wouldn't have missed this for the world! The story was that good, the characters were that intriguing, and the world created here was so real, I lived in it while reading and didn't want to leave

Having read and loved Rude and Sassy, which you don`t have to read this book, Marco Polo Scorpio completely and utterly captivated me, as well as who the Vitaliev children were. This clearly gives us who P

What in the what? That ending! It's a cliffhanger -- you need to know that up front. As a rule, I don't DO cliffhangers, but I couldn't stay away from Scorpio.

From the moment we first met him in Rude, I was intrigued. I'm a sucker for mafia guys and I needed to know his story. And what a story it is! It's a heartbreaking story of betrayal, torture, rebirth, and growth. Beautifully told.

We meet Scorpio's reason for living, Dash, and what a fantastic, FEARLESS, force of nature she is. She's grow
There’s no one in your world but me, and there’s no one in my world but you. You know why? Because you and I share the same world, and no one else is allowed in.

I expected a dark, mafia book with Year of the Scorpio: Part One, and I definitely got that. But what I also got? So many laughs, such good fun, and some genuine, heartfelt speeches that made my toes curl. Could these two be any sweeter, any more perfect for each other? This book had a little bit of everything, and I am so ready for Part

Dasha Vitaliev is the daughter of the powerful boss of the Vitaliev Bratva. Sixteen years earlier, she and her brother were kidnapped by a rival family, the Scorpeones, which had long term consequences. Her father was enraged, and in turn, took a member of their family for revenge. But, it backfired on him, as the member was the best child of the Scorpeons' boss. Marco Polo Scorpeone was made to pay for his family's sin, and for two years he was tortured for something he had nothing to do with. ...more

This is the first book by Stacy Gail that I have read, but it certainly won't be my last. This book was well written, exceptional descriptive, dark, HOT and kept me guessing. I thought from the start I knew what was going on, but clearly I was wrong, but then again maybe not. I think Stacy like to keep her readers guessing and I love that about an author. Dasha and Polo's story is not at all what I would have expected going into this book and I can't wait to see how things play out. I love when ...more

only 4 stars because I hate cliffhangers

I loved the sensory stimulation of 'House of Payne' series by Stacey Gail.
While there are crossover characters from Rude, this book delves into dark waters of warring families, where a year long bloodbath forces a horrific sacrifice for peace. Now that peace is shattered, a new war looms but where is the threat coming from and why now?
I couldn't read this one till the 2nd book came out, which I was half way through before I felt in a safe spac

Book one definitely outlined the first coat of the story. It took us to the road of a beginning of whats? Whos? Wheres? Whens? Where book two, took us to the road of whys? And Hows? And finally, the development of story that was entangled with too many knots to disentangled.

Fuethermore, Who said that second books are not better that the first one... They were completely wrong.

The conclusion was great. Loved the characters and all the twist and turns.

Russian Mafia, danger, alpha male and romance all wrapped up into a very good read. I am not sure if I can give justice to this book. It takes you on a wild ride of emotions. Dasha and her brother were kidnapped by a rival gang when they were younger. It changed who they were and who they would become. Polo was offered to their family as a sacrifice. He was tortured and abused. Eventually he became a trusted member of their "family" and one of her

I received a copy for a honest review

Well I have always said everyone deserves love even bad boys and Marco Polo Scorpeone one baaaaaad boy, well maybe not too bad.
For those of you that have read Gail's House of Payne series you might remember Scorpio, as he likes his enemies to call him Polo to his friend, from Rude and Sass's book. For those of you who have not them two things: one read that series and two Scorpio works for the head of the Vitaliev Bratva which is the lead Russian mob family

They call me Dash

Sixteen years ago my brother and I were kidnapped. The Scorpeones believed our father, boss of the Vitaliev Bratva, could be pressured into relinquishing his hold on Chicago’s underworld.
They were dead wrong.

They call me Scorpio

There was no light in my world. Then I saw Dash smile.

No voice could pierce my darkness. Then I heard Dash speak.

I've killed to survive. Killed to please my handler. Hell, I’ve killed to please myself. Killing is what I do.

I know I’m not good enough for

This book is a mafia romance book, but it is definitely a mafia book. There is a lot of life lost, a lot of sex, rape, hard language, and etc. It is a very intriguing book and it keeps you on your toes, you feel for this woman. This book is a love story above all and Dasha a girl, wh

Not your average gangster romance

Love that Gail took a different approach to the gangster romance here, with the lovers (and love) an easy step from...well, the work/friend/bodyguard relationship. Dash has a great voice, and while the reader occasionally sees things more clearly than she does, her character rings true to her experiences. I especially love that Gail found her a friend that can sympathize and understand her roots without being part of the family. The bad guy is a great bad guy, an

OH MY GOD! I am still hungover on this book! I am still in the denial phase of grief! This is part one of the love story of Dash and Polo. This is a dark, thrilling mafia romance. THAT ENDING THOUGH!! I am legit dying to read part two! So gripping, it left me speechless!

I read all of house of Payne and wrapped around to read these 2. They were probably my fave of all of them. A lot of the elements were the same as the House books but these two resonated with me more.

They said it would end in a cliffhanger but I didn't realize how this story would suck you in so waiting is gonna be a killer. Dash is trying to make her family name stand for something good after her father was a dark criminal for years. Her brother now called Knives wants the family to be at the top of the food chain and destroy the family who kidnapped them both when they were young. Marco Polo was the youngest son of that family that kidnapped them and his father gave him to Dash and Knives ...more

Oh wow

This is just action packed from the get go. You grow to love some characters and hate others in this book. Kon my God I swear when I read that scene no spoilers I was so upset my son asked if everything was okay. I cried and cried. Damn Knives he can't move on he can't get past what happened to him as a child even though Polos past is so much worse. Being traded and told by his own father they could kill him at 15! Then to be raped repeatedly for two years, forced to fight in a cage like a

Wow. Just wow. This 2 book series is now firmly ensconced in my top 20 books to re read at least once a year. I was wary when I started them, then ended up powering through both books because I could NOT put them down. Warning, do not buy book 1 without book 2 because the cliffhanger is painful.
