I'll be honest. I pick my ARCs kind like how I pick my clothing. I look at the cover and weed them out from there. If I like the cover, I’m always going to check out the blurb. First of all, I LOVE this cover. It's gorgeous and catches your eye immediately. After reading the blurb I was sold.

I love a good 'coming home' story. Even though Tall Pines, TX wasn't technically Angie's hometown, it still had the feels of such. Sometimes you just need a book like this. Something that you know is

Every now and again, you can pick up books and not be sure what you are going to expect. For me, that was Stand by Jennifer Rebecca. To be honest, what drew me to this book was the fact that the author has two first names. The cover was the second thing that drew me in and lastly it was the idea of a small town called Tall Pines. Stand by Jennifer Rebecca sparked for me a few things when I was reading it. The first was that sports star Cody Reynolds was in an accident while playing NFL and his W ...more

This is a fast paced story and it is fun. I love being able to find that quick story that can make you laugh about life, but also put things in perspective. This story is quick so you will be done with this book in a couple of hours. The characters are a hoot and some of the things they say are hilarious, but so true. I love the opening with Angie at the hospital and it only gets better when she gets home to her aunt. Her aunt all my goodness

I love the premise of this book. However, the delivery fell short for me.

This was an extremely quick read and I felt that it could have been longer and more detailed in a lot scenarios throughout the book.

As a debut novel, it's not too bad. Jennifer has a lot of potential in her writing. The characters were good, but some could use a little more depth to them. I didn't feel a strong connection to any of them but I did enjoy them. I just had a hard time with some of the reactions of the characte

Jennifer Rebecca debut novel Stand is a great read if you are looking for some romance. Cody and Angie find each other in a small town of Tall Pines, Texas. Cody, an ex NFL player turned football coach and Angie a nurse from New York turned school nurse seem to be destined to come together as co workers at a local high school. I'm a big fan of insta-love. Well cause it could very well happen. That's why it's called a love story. Stand had some drama and and epic twist that I for one didn't see h ...more

Sometimes you just need a sweet romance, and that is exactly what Jennifer Rebecca gives readers.
Two people from different walks of life end up in the same small town.
There's just something about a small town romance that just gives you all the feels. Angie and Cody are very much the love story I needed right now. A little drama and a lotta love.
Well done Jennifer Rebecca, I'm ready for Volume 2!!!

Great debut.

Quick, easy and fun. This couple is cute. The side characters are funny. A short read that is smoking hot.

*Jennifer Rebecca is a lovely person and although this wasn’t exactly my cup of tea I will get another one of her books because she shows promise.*
I just finished reading Stand by up and coming author Jennifer Rebecca. I love reading new authors! There were several grammatical errors and a lot going on through most of the book but the plot line and story line showed promise but needs work. It was a quick read and I will try another of her books

Sugary Sweet!

I really enjoyed Stand, it was a sweet and steamy read. There were a couple of times while reading that just didn't seem right and kinda made me do a "huh" but I liked it enough that I just downloaded Vol. 2.

Stand is the first volume in Jennifer Rebecca’s Southern Heartbeats collection and is her debut novel. This quick read was fun and definitely had some curveballs to it that I wasn’t expecting.

I truly liked the hero and heroine in this book. I loved Cody’s confidence and his sweetness. He’s a former NFL star who suffered an injury, but he didn’t let it define him.

For me, there's one thing that is hard to pull off in and book and that is insta-love. I'm not a fan, however sometimes it seems to work out. This time, it didn't. Jennifer Rebecca's debut novel takes her readers, along with her characters to a small town called Tall Pines, Texas. Both Cody and Angellica are living in New York, when certain incidences for each of them land them in Tall Pines.

Cody is a former NFL player now living life out of the spotlight back in his hometown. He's been burned

Stand by Jennifer Rebecca is a debut novel for this author and a great start to her writing career. It’s a bit cliquey in parts and our lead characters find their happily ever after with each other a lot faster than you would expect. But that works in this story line, and added to its appeal.

Some readers adore these sweet kinds of stories and obviously, some don’t. My own opinion is that sometimes it’s nice to find a book that’s a little over

I struggled with this story. The story has laughs, secrets, pain, grief, and heartbreak.

This is Angellica and Cody’s story. After Cody is injured in a super bowl game he moved back home and is coaching football to the school kids. After Angellica loses another child on the job she goes to her boyfriend for support. Too bad he is too busy betraying her. She leaves the hospital broken and alone. She moves to Tall Pines to take a job as a school nurse. After meeting Cody they become friend

Angellica is ready for a new start after catching her boyfriend (who is also her boss) cheating at the hospital they both work at in New York. When a school nurse job comes up in her aunt's home town of Tall Pines, Texas, she grabs it.

Cody is an ex-NFL star, who had to retire after a major injury on the field. He has worked his way back to health, and is now a high school football coach at his hometown high school.

Angellica is Cody's nurse after his football injury. He falls in love with her f

Listen, I haven't laughed so hard in a really long time, and after this week I WELCOMED those laughs let me tell you. Cody and Angie are the best things ever, especially because with Angie came Mabel. The interview scene was hilarious... But girl, that ending chapter, I cried like a baby. Not fair! Cody is a football player who with one play changes his life forever and in the process he meets Angie. Life, as it is, puts them together in odd situations. And they find themselves very attracted to ...more

I never give out 1 stars because liking a story is subjective. I might like it and others might not relate to it at all or vice versa. In this case, I never even finished the book.
Here is why. A foul mouthed nurse who sleeps with the Doctor and catches him cheating but she decides to leave in the middle of her shift and quit. She then goes to an interview with her foul mouthed language. I stopped there. I have a potty mouth and heard and said them all too. That's not the problem. I'm a nurse an

Jennifer Rebecca's debut novel is a story of leaving the bad behind, coming home and finding love.

Angelica and Cody hit the insta-love train pretty quickly. I get they both were dealing with some pretty crummy stuff that had happened to them, but even for what they went through, the insta-love was lightening fast. I'm okay with that, but it did make the story a bit predictable. I did like the characters. Angelica was strong-willed and sassy. Cody was hard to pin down at first, but ult

Angel eyes...he was destined to be with her. To be honest the story didn't grab me. However, it was a fast quick read.
Cody was the star NFL player and in the blink of an eye, his dreams crashed. But when he looked up from a hospice bed, his angel was there. Or was it a dream? Angelica was pediatric nurse. When she had a rough day at work, she wanted to lean on her boyfriend. But when she found him with someone else, she had enough. With an opportunity to relocate, their paths meet. Their sizzli

This was a good book and a good debut novel. I really love small town romances, especially in Texas, since I also hail from the great state.

I loved Angel's fiery passionate personality, she is much bolder than I am, but isn't that what we want in heroine, some to reflect what we really want to be?

Cody was bitter and jaded, understandably so after his fiance left him in the hospital because his NFL career is over.

Right from the beginning this novel had me laughing out loud. Angel's aunt was hi

This book is a fast-paced short novella. This was an ok debut novella. During the story I always felt like their should have been more. Yes,I am a fan of insta love , and I do love a short , sweet, romance but this story just felt like it was missing something .There were a few good parts to this story ,I guess my main concern was not so much the writing but the plot and the characters . The flow was not consistent in this story and while I will always love a story that takes me on a rollercoast ...more

This was just okay for me. It started off really well with great, sassy dialogue and strong characters, but it went downhill towards the end with a twist involving side characters that didn't make sense to me. I think Jennifer Rebecca has great potential as a writer, but this read would have benefited from better editing.

There was no real story here. Two people saw each other once, saw each other again, had sex, got pregnant, done.

There were no feelings involved... unless you count lust. I was very disappointed in this. It could have been great!

Jennifer is a thirty something lover of words, all words: the written, the spoken, the sung (even poorly), the sweet, the funny, and even the four letter variety. She is a native of San Diego, California where she grew up reading the Brownings and Rebecca with her mother and Clifford and the Dog who Glowed in the Dark with her dad, much to her mother’s dismay.

Jennifer is a graduate of California
