"In mijn afschuwelijkste nachtmerries zag ik een in het nauw gedreven More door de straten van Londen ijlen, gezeten op een wagen, getrokken door vier op hol geslagen paarden die zonder op- of omkijken naar de rand van de afgrond stormen. Gestuwd door zijn eigen vaart kan hij niet anders dan voortrazen op de ingeslagen weg, terwijl de ratelende wielen zijn hulpgeroep overstemmen."

Born in Diest, Belgium in 1944, Joris Tulkens started his career as writer with the school paper.

His first book, de Macht van het Getal, was published in 1988 which was nominated for best Belgium debut and the title story was filmed by the VRT.

To this day, Joris Tulkens keeps writing books from detectives to historic fiction
