"I'm a non-fiction author and project editor (plus I do a bit of journalism). I'm available for project development, writing, project management and I also work as a packager. Click on the links above to see examples of my work.
But first some background: Over the last 20 years, I've written books, magazine and newspaper articles, for online and for television. I get to write about a wide range of subjects, everything from axolotls to zoroastrianism. However, my specialties are natural history, technology and all things scientific. I've worked on projects with Brian May, Patrick Moore, Marcus de Sautoy and Carol Vorderman and for major international publishers, such as Dorling Kindersley, National Geographic, Scholastic, Hachette, Facts on File and BBC Magazines.
I spend my days finding fun ways of communicating all kinds of facts, new and old, to every age group and reading ability. I live in Bristol, England, with my wife and three children. I studied zoology at Bristol University and have had spells working at the zoos in Jersey and Surrey. I used to be something of a conservationist, which included planting trees in Somerset, surveying Vietnamese jungle and rescuing buffaloes from drought-ridden Zimbabwe. Writing jobs have also taken me to the Galápagos Islands, the Amazon rainforest, the coral reefs of Indonesia and the Sahara Desert. Nowadays, I can be found mainly in the attic." ~http://tomjackson.weebly.com/
This was such a fun and informative read that was easy to finish in an hour. I recently read all three of these books and will be posting the same review for all them. I liked:
1. The pictures were massive and gorgeous! It was so cool to see these animals drawn out for me and associate them with the fun facts.
2. The facts given about the animals were fun and informative. I loved learning about them!
3. I liked how each book took time to show animals from around the world rather than just certain areas. The variety was wonderful to see!
I only didn't like:
1. Some of the drawings were somewhat blurry, but I didn't mind too much.
A fun, quick informative read for those interested in animals.
Beautiful, easy and informative. Also, very much like the size. I can easily read and have my kids flip the pages as we discover more ocean sea life. Great way to introduce facts and different animals. Comes with a pull out poster which is also good to go over any new facts that we learned while reading.
What a beautiful book! It's filled with interesting facts. My children and I took turns reading them and then often went on to research further. The illustrations are large and the large size captures your attention - though it doesn't fit on a standard bookshelf.
Pretty decent book with great facts about the creatures. There are so many creatures in the ocean, and this book didn't cover all of them. It did a great job nonetheless though.
