Active duty is no time for romance, but when two naval officers find themselves in truly close quarters on the USS California, the temptation to fraternize is hard to resist. Can two ambitious sailors follow orders long enough to see if love is on the horizon when they’re finally above water?

Lieutenant Nic Riley is the only girl in a long-time Navy family, and she’s dete

Love Runs Deep the 1st book in the Changing Tides series was a pretty good read for me. There were things about it that I really liked and things that I just didn't care for. I liked that both Nic and Kyle's characters were well develop. I felt I really got to know them. Both were likable and relatable. I loved the navy sub theme. I liked Nic's family and Kyle's brother. I felt like Nic and Kyle had good chemistry and plenty of lust for each other. The thing is I ne

5 - "Now, tomorrow, and always..." Stars!

Not quite as good as book three, better than book two, and by my reckoning there are at least six secondary characters in this book that the author could give stories too (everything crossed here for that).

I have binged two books from this series in two days, I think that is all you need to know in regards to me recommending this author. I will also reiterate that this and her previous series are ridiculously cheap on Amazon at the moment, so snap them up

Slick's review:

My sick sense of humor enjoys books where a one night stand comes back to complicate the lives of those involved, I know I’m sorry…truly, I am, but I just can’t help it. Author Gail Chainese does this troupe way proud in Love Runs Deep. Two navel officers enjoy a wild night way away from their base only to discover they will be serving on the same submarine. While Love Runs Deep is most definitely a romance; this book tackles the subject of coed assignments in tight spaces, sexual

I was given this book for an honest review by Wicked Reads.

Kyle is a really great guy. He takes care of his family, loves them unconditionally, despite them not being all that appreciative. When he takes in his younger brother, his life gets even more complicated. However, what he doesn't expect is to see Nic, the one night stand that he hasn't been able to forget.

Nic is just getting her career underway. Be

Nic's father is an important Navy admiral. Nic always wanted to be like her father and brothers and joined the Navy as well. She's trying to prove she's as capable as they are. When she gets a place as the only woman on the USS California, a submarine, she's over the moon. Before she leaves she allows herself a one night stand with a gorgeous stranger, Kyle. She's convinced she'll never see him again, however, when Nic arrives on the submarine she discovers that she's working together with Kyle. ...more

I was mildly intrigued by the idea of a forbidden navy romance, but this book veered off in a few unexpected directions. A six month tour on a sub might have been interesting, if a little repetitive with the complications of conducting a relationship in so small a space with such a lack of privacy. But that’s not what we get from this book. What happened instead definitely made for compelling reading and certainly tested the strength of all characters involved, even if it did rather o

I really enjoyed the Nic and Kyle’s story. What began as a one-night stand, turned into much more for Nic and Kyle. Nic is really LT Nic Riley, an officer that just received orders to a Naval submarine. Kyle is a Naval Officer himself. Like many do when at bars, neither discussed their jobs. Come to find out, they are now stationed onboard the same submarine, Nic being one of the first females onboard a fast-attack submarine. When Kyle finds out that a Sailor in his division has taken pictures o ...more

Love military romances and I love mistaken identity romances so this was just the perfect storm. The characters were interesting and did some unexpected things. Nic's relationship with her dad and brothers made the military aspect that much more interesting. I look forward to more in this series. ...more

ARC Review: Love Runs Deep (Changing Tides) by Gail Chianese

I'm loving this pattern of courageous women heroines and hope it continues in the future. Nic is more than a pretty face. She's smart, determined and willing to fight for what she believes in. Even if it means she has to break her own heart to succeed in a male dominated world. Love Runs Deep not only breaks a few rules but it examines discrimination and stepping up and doing what's right in the face of adversity. Kyle and Nic lead with

Love Runs Deep is the newest book from author Gail Chianese. It's the first one in a new series. I love her previous work but this surpassed even those stories. It's military based and so I was introduced to a whole new world but in a way that I wasn't confused. I loved these characters and the way they related to each other. To see them try and be so professional when they really just wanted to be together was heartbreaking but it also was great to see that not all relationships are based on on ...more

Lt. Nic Riley comes from a long line of family in the Navy. She is about to go on a sub for six months and has a one night fling with a hunky guy who turns out to be on the same sub. Lt. Kyle Hutchinson is a womanizer until he meets Nic. Six months of running into each other will prove to be a tough life. Romance and relationships are forbidden on board! I enjoyed this book and recommend it to lovers of contemporary romance, especially military romance. I enjoy reading anything about the militar ...more

Message to the author: Honey, fix those editing errors and you are looking at a PERFECT book. This book had a boatload of romance. Get it Navy-Boatload? You didn't find out who was losing their career until the very end. Awesome book!

Lily "Nic" Riley is the baby girl in a family of rough and tumble boys who is determined to find her place in the family business: the US Navy. Being one of the first women deployed in this submarine group is just one of the barriers she's breaking.

Kyle Hutchinson has made the Navy his life, his career. Joining the Navy after college was just one more step away from the dismal home life of his youth.

Sweet and steamy romance about Nic aka Lily and Kyle. Nic is dealing with being a woman in the Navy and being on a submarine for months with someone, Kyle, she had a one-night stand type scenario with. I love forced proximity type of romances and military ones as well, so I enjoyed both of those aspects. I'm not a fan of the whole boys club mentality of the guys on this sub; Nic has to deal with some difficult things. I liked Nic's determination; she's a strong female character. I liked Kyle's l ...more

Enjoyed this book. Book #1 of Changing Tides
First of all what I truly enjoyed were two people
that where finding it hard to be together, and fighting the battles the were ahead.
It was hard in both there positions to be together.

Both being on a submarine for a while.
Lieutenant Kyle Hutchinson and Lieutenant Nic Riley wouldn't be easy after there one night of passion. Seeing each other again was a surprise to each of them.

See what happens.

Truly a beautiful ending.

Love Runs Deep by Gail Chianese......This was a good start to a new series. Both characters are in the military, Nik is beautiful and a strong woman and Kyle is a hot womanizer. You will have to read it to find out if these two can make. I enjoyed seeing this story unfold for these two. I voluntarily reviewed an advance reader copy of this book from publisher via NetGalley.

Love Runs Deep has an intriguing submarine military setting that pulled me in, to request the book from NetGalley. And the story starts with a fun, light, carefree way with a hot as can be one night stand between two strangers. And continues so for about a fifth of the book, until it takes a drastically different and unexpected turn, almost like the characters took over and decided to tell a different kind of tale than was planned.
And that tale is all about women in a military, the problems tha

There’s so much I enjoyed about LOVE RUNS DEEP, but I think the component I found most intriguing was the way the military lifestyle was incorporated into this book. This isn’t just a romance about a woman and a military man; both of these characters are career-military; the heroine is just as interested in her career as the hero.

Nic is the youngest of three in a Navy family (with an Admiral father). She’s determined to out-do her older brothers who have well-established Navy careers, plus show

This was an ok read for me. I enjoyed the overall storyline, it's very different and unique. The characters were interesting but I expected more from Nic. Considering the obstacles she has had to fight and get through in her family and career, I expected her reaction to the events in the story to be fury and toughness. This kind of put a damper on the story for me. ...more

As the wife of a retired submariner, the overall setting of Groton and the Subase are nice to read about. However, I feel that the storyline is not doing the sub service any favors. This reads like a billboard shouting that women do not have a place on a boat. Also, why are the other women portrayed so poorly, the cheating wife, the dumb beauty queen, Kyle's mom... Ugh! ...more

Lieutenant Nic Riley grew up as a Navy brat; her father an admiral and her two brothers following in his foot steps. Though her family would prefer she not, she has graduated sub school. Before going to their new assignments she and her two buddies, Cherise and Lindsey go to a bar in Boston, where she meets Lieutenant Kyle Hutchinson and the two of them hook up for the night, separating without a goodbye. Then her orders are changed and they end up on the same sub on a 6 month mission. Then a ju ...more
