Life never goes as planned. Jaime Summer learned that lesson the hard way when her fiancé wreaked havoc on her carefully constructed life plan. Now, Jaime’s back in her hometown, working at her sister’s flower shop and living with her family once again, swearing off dating and men for the rest of her life. That is, until Ryan Elson walks through the door.
Ryan has been in Jupiter Bay for a year now, and has worked hard to make this new town his home. His construction business is growing and while his personal relationships with the fairer sex are lacking, he’s more content than he’s ever been.He doesn’t need a woman, but a chance meeting with Jaime has Ryan ready to pull out all the stops to have her.
Exhilarating. Intoxicating. Consuming. Ravenous. Passionate. What happens when those kisses lead towards something more? Something that looks a lot like forever.
Note: This book is intended for those 18 and over due to graphic language, descriptive sex, and the world’s most inappropriate grandparents.
Avid reader, writer, mother, and wife! I love to read contemporary romance. Add in a little "spice" or hot guys in uniform pants, and I'm a happy woman. There's just something about diving into a book and engrossing in the magic of your hero and heroine getting their happily ever after.
Light-hearted, feel-good fun. That's what this story was. If I wasn't laughing at the jokes between the sisters or busting a gut over the antics of the grandparents (really inappropriate but hilarious), then I was swooning about the love that developed between Jaime and Ryan.
Jaime's heart was broken. She was dumped the week of her wedding and vowed to take a break from relationships. That is until Ryan waltzed into her life. He was handsome, cocky, sweet, kind, considerate and oh so sexy. He was also hard to resist. Pretty soon these two are completely wrapped up in each other and helplessly falling in love. Throw in some intense chemistry, big hearts, and well-meaning family and friends, and you've got the recipe for a relationship that will stand the test of time.
Some of the plot was predictable and I did think that Jaime acted a bit irrational at times, but this in no way detracted from my enjoyment of this book.
Be prepared to laugh and swoon just like I did.
An ARC was generously provided in exchange for an honest review
I read this back in November but it mysteriously disappeared . ....Ha ha I found it the memo of my Kindle -
If you are in the mood for a sweet story with virtually zero angst, then one click this book.
Ryan was a great hero. Sweet, caring, sexy and NOT a manwhore! It was refreshing. He knew the moment he saw Jaime that she was special. Now he had to figure out how to convince her that she was.
Jaime was smart and funny. She recently moved back to her hometown and was nursing a bruised ego/heart. She was left by her fiance the week of their wedding. However, the more time she spent with Ryan, the more she realized that the break up was the best thing that could have happened.
-low angst -no cheating whatsoever -om drama - -ow drama - -minimal pushing away -Jaime tried to keep Ryan at arms length but that didn't work at all. -hot sex scenes -hilarious secondary characters and story setups for her sisters. I have to mention that her grandparents are freaking hilarious. A few examples of the grandparent-isms-
“Orval, good news. You can call off the National Guard. We’ve found her. She’s over fornicating with that handsome construction worker.”
“She’s fornicating? Right now?” “No, not right now, Orval, but the boy just answered the door practically naked and he’s sporting a hard-on bigger than that maple tree you cut down last winter.”
“Jaime! Now is not the time for a quickie. Your entire family is out here waiting to make sure you’re breathing, and all you’re interested in doing is another quick ride on the bologna pony! You and ‘Oh God’ need to get out here right now!”
“The good news, kids, is that Mr. Gerard isn’t pressing charges on the trespassing, and I talked with that sweet Barney kid about letting the whole free-roaming willy thing slide. I might have mentioned that I would tell his grandma about seeing him come out of the Gas N Go with a Penthouse magazine and a bottle of vanilla scented lotion.”
“I’m serious, boys. Girls love getting naughty messages. It lets them know you’re thinking about them.” “Or you could send a message that says thinking of you,” I add through fits of laughter. “Boring. Nothing says I miss you and am thinking of you like a picture of your dick.”
-unfortunately, the epilogue was severely lacking. I understand this is the first book in a series but, even if mentioned in subsequent books, it's NOT the same !
I really enjoyed this story. I hope we don't have a long wait too long for the next book!
Sweet light love story. Insta everything, but well played.
I just didn't get why he pretended to buy flowers for OWs and misled her at the beginning. Was it sexy? There were no OWs. He was even celibate for 9 months after he broke up with his last gf. This ex made an appearance once, and I also didn't get why he kissed her on cheek, when he was on the date with the h? Weird. Also OM drama was a bit odd. It's a bit too convenient when your fiancé leaves you because he finally understood he were gay.
It was sweet how H chased and wooed h, when she had her doubts.
The best part of the book were her grandparents 😆. So funny 😂. It's great when a couple in their 70s still enjoys regular sex. I get why all sisters and others found it a bit embarrassing, but it was played nice.
Cute epilogue.

This was my kinda romance novel. It was one of those reads that kind of feels like a warm bath. It was sweet and funny and the characters were engaging but it took me a bit to get into it and it felt a little slow at times.
I absolutely adore the sisters and the interaction between them all and especially the grandparents was awesome. I think honestly without them I might have given up on this book but they kept me reading long enough for me to get hooked on the characters and their story.
Ryan was super sweet but we kinda got off on the wrong foot with him acting like a bit of a douche and the winking was a bit much. But then he was so sweet and fell so hard that I forgot I was worried about his possibly having something in his eye and really loved him.
Jaime I honestly don’t feel much for. She annoyed me a tiny bit at times then others she was relatable but over all I just feel meh about her.
I felt like the drama came too late and was entirely brushed over. I really would have liked to see that played out differently. Now all that said I did end up enjoying the story and I do plan to read the next book in the series because I thoroughly enjoyed the family and did get quite a bit of entertainment from them. Fingers crossed we get more of the horny grandparents to have me in fits of laughter.
I can't help it, but this book was boring. It pains me to write this review since I've seen all the other good reviews and I also met the author. Lacey Black is wonderful! She took the time to chat with us about her books and also took a picture with us.
My Kinda Kisses is the first book in Lacey's new series, Summer Sisters. I have read all of her books and have loved each and every one of them for different reasons. This was because of this family and their craziness along with Ryan and Jaime's journey to find happiness in a small town...
Jaime Summer is back home after her fiancé broke her heart and fucked up her list. She is a planner and had a list to complete by the time she was thirty. She thought Gavin wanted the same things until a few days before their wedding. That was six months ago and many tears ago. She isn't ready to dip back into the dating pool but she is determined to find her passion. She doesn't know what she wants to do next but until then she is going to be working in her sister Payton's flower shop. If she follows her new list that will help her move out of her dad's house. She loves her family but she doesn't really want to live with her dad and grandparents for the rest of her life. And since she added a no dating rule to her new list, she knows that will never be an option. She is on her own and she is totally content with it. That is until he walks in to the flower shop. Damn...this sexy man in construction boots with a panty-melting smile could be trouble. Her list never did say that she couldn't have a casual, no-strings attached, hot sexually relationship with a man, right? Because she wants him. Bad. She has never been the type to have a fling of any kind but maybe the new Jaime does.
The second Ryan saw Jaime he felt something and no, it wasn't just in his pants. The moment their eyes met he felt a connection. He knew she felt it too. He not only wanted to know more about this beautiful stranger but he felt that he needed to. He has only been living in Jupiter for a year so he doesn't know everyone in the small town just yet but he knows that his elderly neighbor would have the inside scoop. And luckily he was right. He saw from the beginning that she would scare easily if he went all in so he would have to plan a way into her heart or at least to get a first date. But, he was determined. He wasn't going to give up on Miss Jaime Summer. There was something there and he wanted to find what it was. Just sex or a forever kinda love?
As time goes on and Ryan and Jaime get to know each other, it's exciting, passionate, and sometimes embarrassing. Jaime's family is very tight-knit, and anything is open for discussion. Any. Thing. Her grandparents are highly inappropriate. Jaime is embarrassed by it but Ryan finds it refreshing. He isn't close to his family so it's nice to be around a big one that knows how to have fun, support each other, and never judge. It's craziness but it's her crazy family and they are part of the package deal if he wants more with Jaime besides the mind-numbing sex that they definitely have when they are together. They can't keep their hands off of each other or even their eyes but it's more than that and Ryan wants to prove it. But is Jaime ready for Ryan to sweep her off her feet?
I loved this story because it's not just about Ryan and Jaime's times between the sheets. Jaime had to learn to let go of her lists and just live for today. And of course it's about love. And finding your passion after it being gone for such a long time. She didn't know what she wanted to do next but it found her. It's also about family. The Summer Clan is one of my favorites! The grandparents are definitely at the top of my elderly couple list. They are fucking hilarious!!! They are so much fun but they also have some very useful insight for relationships. They are very one of a kind. And the sisters...they all have their own personalities even though they are so close. I can't wait to read each and every one of their stories! Who is going to be next?...
Overall...it is an awesome start to a new series by one of my favorite authors! In Lacey's previous books I laughed but in this book I laughed so hard there were tears. I am laughing right now just thinking about some of the scenes. It was a beautiful, hilarious, and sexy ride! The main characters are strong, beautiful inside and out, and their passion for each other makes me speechless.
Quotes:
“Do you have a name?” “Yes.” That’s it. That’s all she says. “Can I have it?” I ask, the smirk fighting to get out. “Don’t you have your own?”
“Unique. That’s a polite way of saying bat-shit crazy.”
“Dropping to your knees is unnecessary in public, sweetheart. Now, if we were…say, in private, I wouldn’t be opposed to seeing you do a little worshipping.”
**And a glimpse into the world of the grandparents:
“Oh, not that kinda playroom, Payters. I’m talking the dirty sex kinda playroom. Like the one in that movie with the Dom who uses those crazy toys on the virgin.”
I've been a fan of Lacey Black's since I picked up her debut novel, Trust Me, and fell in love with the small town of Rivers Edge and the Stevens clan. Small town romances, and especially a series about a big family with lots of siblings finding their happily ever afters, are my favorite romances to read, and it's Lacey Black who always comes to mind first when I think about them. What she does to bring a small town, a big family and those sweet and sexy romances to life is special, and it's why I'm such a vocal fan of her writing.
My Kinda Kisses is the first book in her new Summer Sisters series. A small beach town set on the Chesapeake Bay, the six Summer sisters are a tight bunch. I loved each of the sisters we were introduced to, and I can't wait for their stories. My Kinda Kisses is Jaime Summer's story. She's the second oldest sister and has just returned home after a break up just days before her wedding. She's sworn off men, she's doesn't want to risk her heart again, and she's back home trying to rediscover and redefine herself.
Ryan Elson followed his ex-girlfriend to Jupiter Bay when she moved back to her hometown. The relationship with his self-centered and high maintenance ex may have ended, but Ryan started a general contracting company that's grown successful and he's happy here. It only takes one brief encounter with Jaime for Ryan to realize that he has to get to know this woman.
I loved how patiently persistent Ryan was with Jaime and her fragile heart. He was romantic and sexy and swoony, I loved him! Jaime's battered and bruised heart knew, too, but her brain was being cautious. I loved watching this couple fall in love. Sweet, sexy and genuine, this romance ticked off all my boxes!
The thing about a series about a big family is that there is always more than just the romance. We've got five more sisters to look forward to, and I'm grateful for that! Because with their stories we will undoubtedly get more of grandma and grandpa. This couple was a hoot! Wildly inappropriate, humiliatingly brazen and so unbelievably outrageous, I can't wait to see what these two come out with next! The things these two did and said was the tears-streaming-down-my-face, side-clutching, roaring-with-laughter type of stuff. LOVED IT!!
I'm so excited about this series! I want more, and I want it now. This is what Lacey Black does best, and she's at the top of her game with this book. Small town/big family romances aren't just in her wheelhouse, she is the gold standard in this sub-genre. If you haven't read her work yet, you're missing out. If you have, this book is not to be missed. My Kinda Kisses is the start of small town romance magic, Lacey Black style.
This was a wonderful launch to a new series by Lacey Black. She has returned to her roots of a small town and big family, and I couldn’t be happier. Though I have enjoyed every single one of her novels, not a hardship when you are reading a mastermind storyteller, there’s just something about the connection between the characters within these larger families. As a reader, I love getting attached to these different personalities and the feeling she evokes in us as we watch these characters develop and grow while getting their happy endings.
This debut focuses on Jaime Summer the second oldest in a family of six girls. She has returned home (and I mean quite literally home, to her grandparents’ home, where her father also resides) to Jupiter Bay after a late broken engagement – the week of the wedding late – and begins working at her older sister Payton’s flower shop. Although Jaime wanted nothing more than a husband, children and her HEA, those objectives no longer remain on her list of priorities.
Ryan is the new local construction company owner. He made the move to Jupiter Bay to follow a woman, but the relationship ended soon thereafter. However, the small town had charm and he decided to stay. He walks into Blossoms and Blooms seeking an arrangement for his landlady’s birthday and although he’s been inside the shop before, he has never set eyes on this beauty. Sparks fly between them and throughout their story, their love becomes an inferno.
Though the focus is primarily on Jaime and Ryan and their developing relationship, we are provided with enough of a glimpse at the remaining sisters that waiting for Payton, AJ, Lexi, Abby and Meghan’s stories will be tortuous.
But the secondary characters do not stop there. Nope, the girls’ maternal grandparents steal the show with their innuendos and improper antics. You can’t help but love them, and feel for their son-in-law who has had to endure this since his wife passed away years earlier.
Overall a fantastic and enjoyable read – just the escape I was looking for. An even combination of sweetness mixed with enough heat to burn up your kindle. But the humor was what seriously blew me away. I can’t wait to read more about the Summer sisters.
Okay now that I got that out the way I can get a bit more into the detail. When I started I wasn’t sure if I would like Jaime or Ryan, but at the third chapter I liked them. A bit more in I fell in love with them both .
Both of them are just so engaging that that makes you feel you right there with them. They funny, loving and caring and sexy. They also balance each other out perfectly.
Speaking of perfect, I like that they not all too prefect it makes them just so much more real.
I’m not a fan of insta love or lust, but done right it just works. That is the case here. They both see each other and just know there is more but it takes a bit ti play out and I also liked that.
I thought it was cute. The Heroine is abandoned the week that her wedding would happen. The ex ends all by text message. She returns to her parents' house. Her grandparents are hilarious and the sisters very interesting. Our hero soon becomes enchanted by her and runs after her. His ex appears briefly but does not cause much drama because he knows exactly what he wants. Her ex appears and makes revelation. I liked it and I'll read about the sisters.
Loved this book and characters so much!! I loved Jaime and her sisters relationship! I feel so in love with Ryan from the start! He is the total package sweet funny sexy and a dirty talker!! The grandparents made me laugh so hard I love them!! This is a definite ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ read!
Once in a while, I need some romance to lose myself into and this one truly ticked all the boxes I needed it to.
You get a fun, blooming romance, there's intrigue, there's fun characters, there are highly inappropriate grandparents and.. amazing sibling relationships!
I got so much more out of this novel than I expected to, which is always the best kind of surprise when it comes to reading books, isn't it?
The romance itself - lived for it. Although it felt a bit insta-lusty, but can you really fault a book for that when you know it's adult romance you're getting yourself into? The characters themselves are pretty much all very lovable. I couldn't wait to get to know them better, to see their relationships with one another grow and change or simply see them be. Especially the relationships between Jaime and her sisters. Now there's something I don't see enough of in books! They support one another unconditionally - loved seeing that. The grandparents? Skies, you're in for a ride with those two. I won't even tell you more about it, you have to live it yourself. Just know that.. I still don't know whether or not I'd want them as mine. They're just that inappropriate, but you can't help but love it in a very weird way?
In any case - I enjoyed reading this so much! Flew through it!
Lacey has stole my heart again Jaime and Ryan remind me a lot like a couple from Lacey's first book Trust me (river edge series book 1 its free on Amazon) they are down to earth, chemistry off the wall just like you would want the two main characters in the book. And don't get me started on her grandparents I laughed so hard while reading this book my family thought I was crazy. If you love small town, big family books you will love this book/ series once we meet the rest of the Summer Sisters.
One of the things I love most about reading is discovering new-to-me authors. Be that first-time authors or well-established authors who I just never read before. It’s exhilarating because you never know what you get yourself into—unlike with your go-to authors. Lacey Black was such an author for me. My Kinda Kisses was my first book by her, but definitely not my last.
My Kinda Kisses is a sweet romance about not only finding love, but also letting go of the past, opening yourself up for possible heartache after tragedy, hoping this time will be different. Filled with witty banter, sweet love, and hilarious characters, this book was a delight to read.
Jaime Summer has come running back to her hometown after fiancé left her via the worst breakup method ever invented—a text message. She’s finally over the worst of her heartache and getting her life back on track when she meets Ryan Elson. The attraction is instant, maybe a little too instant for my taste, and soon they can’t stay away from one another. But can Jaime let go of her past? Move on from her heartache and trust again?
The heat between Jaime and Ryan is palpable and bleeding through the pages. They fit perfectly, especially in their imperfections. The writing was very engaging and drew me into the story, portraying the complex characters and interesting story line flawlessly. The side characters only enhanced the story. Jaime’s sisters are all very diverse and individual, while her grandparents were a hoot who had me laughing constantly. It was a great mix of the individual journey of two people as well as family relationships and dynamics.
The only reason this wasn’t a five star read for me was the lack of an emotional arc for me. I was constantly waiting for something big and emotional to happen, but it never did, which left me disappointed. It was all a little too rushed in the beginning for me.
But all of this is a personal preference and doesn’t mean this book wasn’t great. I still believe y’all should pick it up and give it a chance. I know I will keep waiting for the next one!
I'll admit - I was completely sucked in by the title alone..... but the story itself..... oh so gorgeous.
Jaime has moved back to her childhood home after a traumatic break up with the man she thought she would spend her life with. She is living with her Dad and wildly inappropriate grandparents - who are amazing by the way! Her plan..... be happy, find a career and get her own home. No more penises!
That was before she met Ryan.
Ryan owns a construction company in Jupiter Bay and has the sweetness of a jar of lollies. He adores his office manager and dotes on his elderly neighbor. When he needs to buy something for his neighbor's birthday he figures a bunch of flowers is as good as anything.
And that's when it happens. Fate at its finest. Ryan meets Jaime. Brown eyes meet Green. Currents travel through fingertip touches. The stars align. And the gorgeous characters who weren't supposed to be falling in love...... fall in love.
These characters are beautiful! They are written so well and are so easy to connect to, I want to be friends with them all! I found myself, as I was reading, playing this book as a movie in my mind - and it was incredible! I'm totally going to start petitioning to have The Summer Sisters turned into a movie!!!!
I have never read any of Lacey Black's work before but she very quickly became a new favourite author over the past two days.
I am pleased to say that I am in a haze of complete and utter book hangover and would not have it any other way.
Am impatiently going to wait for the next instalments of The Summer Series now....

I am loving me some Lacey Black. This is the third series I have read by this author and I swear with each book she releases, they continue to get better and better. Her newest release is the brand new start of a series that is sure to be another top favorite of mine if book one is any indication how this series will progress.
My Kinda Kisses was a sweet, light, sexy, romance that made me smile, giggle, swoon, and fall head over heels in love. I was hooked to this book by the end of chapter one and I raced to the end, seeking that happy ending that I knew was coming.
Sometimes love gives us a fairytale when we least expect it....
Jaime and Ryan meet by chance... but it is one that will forever change the course of their lives. She has been hurt and is trying to heal. He knows pain but is open to love. When he sees her, he knows he wants more but getting her to agree will be the challenge. Ryan knows she is worth the chance and effort but can he prove that to her?
Get ready for a slow build in the beginning that turns into an all consuming love. These two are going to make you swoon and show you the important moments of falling in love.
I can't believe I left this book on my Kindle so long. I absolutely loved Ryan and Jaime's story. The writing is crisp, the characters are real and the banter and sexual tension is amazing. As soon as I finished this book, I dove into the next sister's story. I love finding a series that has the reader becoming emotionally involved with the characters. Jaime returns to her hometown after her fiancé broke up with her via text a week before the wedding. Wounded and building walls around her heart she swore off men. That is until Ryan walks into her sister's flower shop where she temporarily works. He too has had a relationship that left him with a bitter taste in his mouth. The couple's chemistry is instant and explosive. Their banter is flirty, fun, and sexy as is their physical relationship. However, her grandparents often hijack the story and it is hilarious. These are not the sit on your porch grandma and grandpa, oh no. These are the stick a condom in your boyfriend's pocket and share sexcapades with everyone in earshot grandparents. I want to be Emma when I grow up just to see the look of mortification on my son's face when I overshare, lol. I can't wait to continue the series and see what other adventures await Ms. Black's Summer sisters.
I'll tell you my sin. I had this book forgotten in my library for a year. Can you believe me? A whole year! Big mistake! Because let me tell you...this book is one of the funniest, hottest and most exceptional books I've ever read! I. Love. It. Plain and simple. Angst free. Love at first sight. Hot, steamy sex. The most hilarious-out-of-the-world grandparents. ( a big LOL here) Just perfect. My first Lacey Black book and it won't be the last. This is a new bright beginning for my stalker-ish way because I'm stalking the woman everywhere!
The Summer Sisters series is the first of Lacey Black's books that I have read and I have to say that I am officially now a fan. This series was funny and sweet. I honestly laughed and cried and sometimes even laughed then cried because I couldn't stop laughing. Once you start, you just can't stop with this series. I will be readying more of Lacey's work!
