Fans of Dystopian, Paranormal Romance and even a bit of Urban Fantasy
need
to 1-click this hella gripping story.
Set in a future where cities have been split up into sectors, ruled and protected by Witches. Sector 8 follows Cora, a Scion. She is a human daughter from one of the old aristocratic families, and is of the age for marrying. Except this year the Scions are not only being married off to a Witch, as per tradition, they are also up for being picked by one of the two Regent heirs. To be married for the purpose of producing an heir, to keep the blood line going.
Cora is a fantastic heroine. She is exactly the sort of girl you can route for. She isn't going to just sit and take her fate willingly. She knows that the Scion picked by a Regent, very rarely survives pregnancy, and even less survive actual childbirth. The Regent's magic is just too strong for the human Scion to have within their bodies, during pregnancy. And Cora is not okay with seeing her life on a countdown. So Cora has plans, and is determined to find a way out of this. Except she doesn't expect to run into gorgeous distractions, in her plans.
This year there is two Regent heirs. Only one will be the Regent and rule, and both brothers have very different personalities, goals, and visions for how they see the sector should be run. Cue some tension, testosterone, and of course some deadly magic with repercussions.
I'm not going to go into details on the two brothers, as I don't want to give anything away. It's definitely a story you want to let unravel as you read. But it's crazy intense, and a lot of full on action at all times.
LJ Swallow has written something slightly different this time, from her norm, and I think it definitely has been a success. In a book world where unique stories are becoming harder, and harder to come by, finding a story that stands out from the crowd is special, and most definitely needs to be jumped on.
I only stumbled across Dystopian books in the last couple of years, and absolutely loved what I had read. It's different, and opens up a whole new range of possibilities, which is something we definitely need. It sometimes feels like everything has been covered about ten times already. Well this is where Dark Elements has stepped in to become a refreshing and different read. Personally I had not read anything like it, and loved how the story opened up. I even felt, come the end, that it could easily progress further into a series. (It's a standalone, and ends perfectly) I just felt the characters, background and story was something that was so interesting, and had so much more room to expand. So fingers crossed that maybe one day the world may get visited again.
Plenty of action, drama, heat, and twists and turns to keep everyone happy. With some great, complex characters at the heart of it. I thoroughly enjoyed this new release from LJ Swallow, and hope there is more like this to come. Highly recommended.

The newly appointed regent, Alaric is the youngest of two brothers. He's sadistic and cruel, while Mattias is polar opposite.
Cora, a Scion, raised to become the wife of a regent or witch, wants no such life, only escape. Her parents have their eyes set on Queen Regent and Cora will do anything to escape her fate.
She meets Ty and her world's turned upside down.
Will she escape? Will the evil regent be overturned? This is another great book in the Othala Witch Collection. One of my favorites! I don't want to give anything away... It's action packed and keeps you hanging on every word. I love this series! Definitely a must-read!

LJ Swallow has another hit on her hands with Dark Elements. From the very start she captured my interest and did not let go. This story is filled with suspense and memorble characters. I enjoyed this story so much, that I honestly didn't want it to end, but I had to find out what would happen!
Cora is a Scion in Othala. She knows that her fate is in the hands of the hands of the witch family that rules the sector. She also knows that should she be chosen, the chances of surviving more than a year is almost unheard of. So she decides to take matters into her own hands, in hopes that they won't choose her.
Alaric is the new Regent and wants absolute power of his Sector. He will stop at nothing until he has control of it all. The only one powerful enough to over take him is his brother Mattias, but he has plans of his own for how their Sector should be run.

Set in the future, this is the story of sector eight where the Regent who maintains the shield to keep the Ravagers out is inherited along the male line of a family of powerful witches. In this case there are two brothers - Mattias is the eldest and very peaceful and Alaric is the youngest and very cruel and sadistic. Bizarrely Alaric is the Regent as his personality was more pleasing to their father.
Cora is a human Scion and her fate is to be married to a witch, but she is not prepared to surrender to her fate as she knows that if she was to be married to the Regent she would die within a year or in childbirth. She wants to escape and make her own life.
She meets Ty (Mattias) before she knows who he is and starts to have an attraction to him. Unfortunately when Alaric realises this he chooses her as his wife. Now she is caught between the two and her drive and fight may be the only things that can save her.
I loved this book. It contained lots of intrigue and surprises as the story unfolds and the battle between the three main characters. It is very well written and I could feel myself being caught up in the story and the drama.

Spellbinding!!!!!!!
This book was different than most of the books that I read. I liked the characters and storyline, they were well written and held my attention. If you like something different you will love this one.

I just finished this, and yes, it definitely is worth reading! Another interesting Othala witch/human plot involving an evil witch regent, his equally powerful older brother, and a feisty human girl with attitude! A great addition to the series!

A good, action packed paranormal romance that you can't put down. A simple act of rebellion leads to love, and then to an epic battle against evil. Witches, magic, and murder run you through the gauntlet and end with a nice HEA.

I started reading this and finished in one day. I couldn't help but fall in love with the fire of a girl and hope she gets her escape. This book kept me on the end of my seat
