Watcher is known in the MC community as a man with strong beliefs. His sense of honor has been built in him from childhood, forged in the mountains of Kentucky, rooted there by family and circumstance. In the ever-changing world of outlaws, he’s made a place for himself, winning a seat at the table for negotiations and decisions that impact not only his club, but those around him. Powerful men ask for his counsel, revealing a trust and respect that can only be earned. His family loves and supports him, too, and he protects his wife and children with a fierceness that consumes. Enemies loom on the horizon, because for every man he calls brother, there are those who would take everything from him.

Full
Michael Otey learned early in life that people outside the ranks of family and close friends were not to be trusted. They were the kind of folks who would use you right up, betraying and throwing you away once your usefulness was exhausted. At sixteen, life nearly derailed in a moment of rage, he was presented with two impossible choices. He selected a track, prayed it was the right one, and set foot on the path of honor, because even at such a young age, he knew honor mattered.

Almost immediately things started looking up in his life. The Army molded him into a soldier, giving him no choice but to excel. Through years of service, the men in his unit forced him to become a leader, moving him to that role by demonstrating with every action that they believed he was trustworthy. Brothers in arms.

That was when death and destruction once again rocked his world, forcing another impossible choice. Pierced through with a thirst for vengeance, raging and alone, he gravitated towards the kind of men who shared his feelings. Hard men, but ones filled with an unshakable sense of honor. Members of a motorcycle club who were not afraid to wreak devastation in support of the found family they shared. The Outriders MC. Brothers in spirit.

To escape the ghosts haunting them both, his older brother had launched his own club, filled with veterans and soldiers. His brother’s stories about his members set up a longing deep inside him, and Mike found himself reaching towards the forgiveness and peace his brother had found. But, in an atmosphere drowning in blood and hate, peace was hard to find. Determined to start fresh, it wasn’t long before Mike, now known as Watcher, followed his brother west, finding a true home as a Southern Soldiers. Brothers in truth.

Then, on what should have been a routine run into Old Mexico, Watcher was confronted by both loss and hope. He saved a doe-eyed beauty from a life branded by pain, but in turn lost the last close link to his family. In her it seemed he found a reason for carrying on, even perhaps a chance at love. As he rebuilt his life, he vowed to keep her safe and the club strong, promising to protect everything that mattered. Brothers. Family. Honor. To do that, Watcher would need to open long-tattered connections to Kentucky, reaching far into his pain-filled past and calling on Davis Mason and the Rebel Wayfarers MC.

Review for Watcher by MariaLisa deMora

Watcher is the ninth book in MariaLisa deMora’s Rebel Wayfarers MC series. Do not read this as a standalone. You will miss out on everything that built the foundation for the series and the beauty that is the journey.

“Brother you know that ain’t true. Motorcycles are like livin’. Either get the f*ck on and ride, or don’t and sit the curb. Simple as that. Your life, your choice.”

Once again I’m left without words…deMora often leaves me speechless with her stories and this is no exception. My favorite part about the RWMC series is that no matter whose book you’re reading, you always meet an old friend along the way. From the very start of the series there is a longevity to the characters. You aren’t meeting strangers, you’re welcoming old friends and standing beside them throughout their trials and tribulations. deMora makes you laugh when they laugh, cry when they cry, desire what they desire, and bleed when they bleed. Each word—sentence—paragraph—is crafted for maximum impact.

“We are Southern Soldiers, we are proud one-percenters, and we are the strongest motherf*ckers around.”

Watcher’s story isn’t an easy one to read. His life is fraught with pain and loss. My heart ached for the man more than once, but he is a true survivor and persevered. Over and over again he proved his worth—as a man, husband, soldier, brother, president, friend, father. I can admit, I fell a little in love with him. (Okay, a lot in love.)

“Everything I need, honey. Always gonna be the same answer. You can ask that question a thousand different ways, and the answer won’t change. Every day, you give me everything I need.”

I would love nothing more than to go on and on about this book, and I could, but it would be a travesty to give anything away. Watcher’s story is more than just words on a page. It’s a lifetime’s journey. It’s a direct line into the soul of a man willing to sacrifice his all for the people he holds dear. It’s about a man who always strives to be the better man. It’s about love and laughter, tears and pain, forgiveness and healing.

It’s a story about life.

Five all-consuming, life altering stars.

I'm not even sure how I can articulate my feelings after reading this book. Each story in this series continues to leave me at a loss for words. Maria deMora doesn't just tell me a story, her writing allows me to LIVE the story.

One thing you can never say about one of her novels is that she lacks character development and growth, but her knack of encompassing an entire life story within the pages of each novel allows for me to not only fall in love with her characters and their story, but embeds them into my heart...permanently.

Watcher took me on a trip to the backwoods of Kentucky and allowed me to watch a young boy turn into an honorable, well respected man that would be a devoting and protective husband and father. Someone that everyone looked up to and earned the respect of every man he met.

The road through Watcher's life was filled with loss, heartache, sadness, love and passion. What this man went through and overcame nearly broke my heart. I just don't even know how to properly convey the emotional roller coaster I experienced. And it's not surprising to me. This author has a talent for leaving me speechless after reading a RWMC novel.

I love this characters, their stories and more importantly their bond with one another. They not only grow in strength as individuals, but as a club. Their ever growing story line with that is woven within each of their stories connects them all on such a deeper level.

Though it's possible to read them alone, you truly won't experience their stories on a level where you can truly enjoy them if you don't read them in order. I HIGHLY recommend reading them in order so that you can follow the entire story.

One of my favorite characters from the Rebel Wayfarer series was Watcher. We've been given glimpses of the President of the Southern Soldiers MC, always giving backup to his brothers in the Rebel Wayfarers MC. He is loyal to a fault. Club. Family. Honor. This is not a love story in the traditional sense - although the love between Watch and Juanita is beautiful to read. This was a complex tale showing the qualities of what makes a man.

This is Watcher's story, starting with his early childhood, seeing him grow, the choices he had to make, to his roles in the Southern Solders, and eventually, the Rebel Wayfarers. We are given a better understanding to his personality, his flaws, his strengths, and his humility. Watcher is one of my favorite books of all times. Guaranteed to make you cry, he is an old soul and I am totally in love with him.

This is the ninth in this series, and it repeats several scenes originally appearing throughout the series, but it gives us more detail from Watcher's eyes. While it is recommended to read them in order, MariaLisa wrote Watcher's book in a way that you don't need to read the other books to understand and love his story. However, if you read this book without reading the other books in the series, you will be grabbing the other books and will begin to binge reading them! 5-stars and one of my Top Ten Favorites for the Year!

This is a re read and my review remains the same only this time its even harder to read. My heart started bleeding from the start of this book and now at the end there's a large gaping hole there. I've always loved Watcher from the beginning but had no idea what a difficult, sorrow filled life he has had. He is such a good man. Big heart, loyal, loving and ultimately sacrifices for the ones he loves. Although we've met most of the characters in other books there was a lot of information learned about some key characters in this one. There's something huge coming - although - what happened in this one was huge enough for me - thank you very much. I get so involved in these characters and live what their going through. Today I'm just feeling very sad.

I'm seriously lost as to how I review Watcher's book.
He goes through soooooooooo much, even at an early age, but never lets it turn him bitter.
So much happens in Watcher's life that all you want to do is get inside the book and take care of him.
What I absolutely love, and I've probably said this before, is how we get more or less the full history of each character, this is what I feel, makes each and every story so amazing.
Watcher & Juanita's relationship was also brilliantly written. It wasn't a sudden "they see each other, fall in love, ride off into the sunset", if it'd been like that, given what Juanita went through, that'd have been wrong. It was a beautiful, slow build up.
Absolutely FANTASTIC READ!!

Josie's Review 4.5 STARS

Watcher is a long and emotional read, full of so many highs and so many lows. It is a story that tore my heart and slowly mended it back together. When I think of a word that would best describe this telling journey it would be – over-the-top. I have followed MariaLisa deMora and the Rebel Wayfarers MC series from the very beginning and every time I am fortunate enough to read another book by this amazing author I am brought to my knees over and over again. How she manages to develop these amazing characters and moving plots is unbeknownst to me.

What makes this book so special is how we get to see the main character, Watcher grow from a young man to the amazing, mature, loyal and loving man he is today. Watchers story is touching and drew me in from the very beginning as did the characters and experiences that transpired. It really touched my heart. His life was not an easy one, as was the life of the people that he met along his journey, there were times that I just cried and screamed out loud and suffered along with this man.

I am not sure how it was possible but this author managed to get me to feel all the pain, passion, love and anger the characters experienced. I watched and cheered with them in their triumphs and felt their defeats. I cried and rejoiced with every roadblock that was standing in front of Watcher.

Watcher’s story is a journey and one that will stay with me for a while. That is really saying something since I love every single book that is in this series. I enjoyed seeing how this man found a family with not only the members of the Rebel Wayfarers MC but also the love of a woman and family he desperately needed. This story made me smile, cry, laugh and cry again. It was an emotional journey that made me fall so much more in love with this author and the characters. We get to see the past and a small insight into the future of the Rebel Wayfarers MC and I am so glad and honored to have been a part of this journey.

“Ive never asked for easy, never expected to find perfection. God “ – he kissed her again, feeling her arms squeeze him – “ top of the world. You make this all effortless and I’m one hell of a lucky guy”

Reading Watcher was like having the feeling of coming home after being away. The sigh that you have when walking through the door. The tightness being lifted from your chest. The rightness that you feel in your heart when you know you are where you are supposed to be. That was how I felt.

I knew going in who Watcher was but reading his story really made me realize that I didn’t know him as a man, only that he was a good brother to the Rebel Wayfarers. To start from where Michael began and how life choices made him who he was today, just pulled at my heart and gave me all the feels.
His story was like a puzzle piece that gets added and helps create this beautiful picture for the Rebel Series, you just can’t help but love them and miss them all the same when the book is over.

I loved being able to read him and all the other characters, old and new in the story. You get to read in other POV’s and what I loved most was that we were able to see situations in different perspectives; it heightened the series as a whole.

I can’t wait for the next chapter in this series. So many possibilities that I hope this will go on forever!

Rebel Wayfarers for life!

5 It's a Roller Coaster of a Ride Stars!!!

I'm going to start this review by saying it's truly going to be one of the shortest ones I've ever written. Not because I didn't love this book, but because I FREAKING LOVED this book!!

Unlike the other books in this phenomenal series, we really get to see the other side of an MC and how the clubs come together, but more importantly, we get Watcher's story from when he was a child in the backwoods of Kentucky.

There are so many tragedies that happen in Watcher's life that at any moment I fully expected him to just go off the deep end. But he doesn't, instead he becomes the kind of man that anyone would be proud to call friend, brother, son and Prez! I sat enthralled while reading this book. I cried, I laughed, I got angry and I fell in love over and over again with Watcher.

We see a different side of Mason in this book too. We get their history as well, and when they're visiting home a few things come to light. Watcher also finds the love of his life while riding with the club and they come upon something that is so horrifying that I gasped out loud and my heart hurt! But leave it to Watcher to heal it back up again.

I'm going to end this review here because there's so much I want to say, but I know if I keep going I'll give something away and I don't want to do that. I'll leave you with this.... this is a MUST READ book and I'm absolute favorite of the entire series.

OMFG!! Woman, why must you torment me so? MariaLisa has done it again. She has written another book that I have completely fallen in love with and has left me an emotional wreck. And yet again, has thrown a curveball ending. Watcher has been a recurring character throughout the Rebel Wayfarers MC series and has always intrigued me. Well the waiting and wondering are finally over as I have just devoured his story. I knew going in that he would be another strong character that I would love. I knew there would be plot twists coming out of the woodwork. I love that his story starts at the beginning and weaves through new and past events. There are some moments that he was present for in previous books that I now have a better understanding of his importance in those events. The emotion in this story pours off the pages. His woman, Juanita, is the best kind of woman there is in an MC. She is a fighter. She rose above what was done to her and took what she wanted from life. I don’t want to give too much away as fans of this series will want to read every word for themselves. All I can say is you will definitely need plenty of tissues, and “you have been warned”. Be prepared for another emotional ride that will leave you wanting so much more! And dear god, please tell me the next book is coming very soon!

Live and die to protect the ones you love

Watcher did not have an easy life, from a young age he did what needed to be done , some decisions were not the best but he did what he needed to for his family, joining the military he got his name Watcher, and it stuck, when he left them he made the choice to join an MC and he became the President, but realizing he needed something good else he joins his brothers mc the southern soldiers and that he realized is where he belongs, fighting for the right thing made it to where he suffers loss again but finds his future with his woman, they have their family and love the mc life, adopting another and when his family his girls are threatened Watcher knows he will do anything to protect his girls , his family , you protect yours with everything you have even with your last breath that is what all in means .

On a side note, I have read every one of the books in this series and Watcher and Hoss have my heart, I laughed and cried with them both and can not wait for more of these men.

This story is a true bitter sweet love story. Both Watcher and Juanita have so many ups and downs throughout their lives. One thing that I love about ML's writing style is she doesn't just give you a quick synapses of backstory, you experience it right along side her characters; both the good and the bad. The way she develops her characters is like no other. You understand the true character of these individuals and Watcher is no different. Watcher was a peripheral character for me before this book, but he truly touches you, reaches in and steals your heart. His loyalty and devotion to Club, Family and Honor are rivaled by none other. (Yes, that includes Mason.) This was an emotionally exhausting story, so have your tissues ready and be prepared for a book hangover like no other. But DO read it!
This is a must read for MC lovers. It meshes and follows with the others in the Rebel Wayfarers series, so make sure you read those or some things might not make sense.

All Hail the Queen!

I finished this book at 5:30am this morning and I am still in shock. The story building in this series is amazing.
I'm having a hard time putting into words how I feel at this point. Please start with Mica and read through the entire series, you will not be disappointed. She draws you into a world you will never forget. Rebel Wayfarers to the end.

Honor. Family.Courage.

I knew this book would gut me and I was not wrong! Watcher was beyond a good man, always doing what was needed to protect the ones he loved. Always.

And seeing how his path led to the Rebels? Intriguing to say the least.

Kudos once again ML for a fabulous feels-making book!

What a ride this one was. From a heart breaking start in life to finally getting to where he wants to be, Watcher’s story is filled with drama, action and an extremely strong sense of brotherhood, not only within his own club, but also with his “brothers” of the RWMC and Bones of the Skeptics MC. I did not see that ending coming, and wow, I can’t even begin to imagine what’s coming in the final few books of the series. It’s going to be massive whatever it is, of that I’m sure.

It was a wonderful read. The characters are so well developed and the story line flows so smoothly you are done before you know it. This book had all the elements it needed to make it a great MC book. This whole series has just been a pleasure to read. This author has a talent for drawing you in and making you care about her characters. You can't help but root for them to get their HEA. Sometimes you need some tissues along the way. This book left me a little shelled shocked because I did not see that coming. If your looking for a over all great MC series to read then this series is for you. There isn't a bad book in the bunch. Now some I love more then others because of the characters but this series has something for everyone know matter what you like. Rated GREAT

There were so many things about this story that I loved hard! I cried a lot because it was full of so much pain, but also so much love. And lots of laughs.

I don't ever agree with spoilers, and that won't change now. But that was not the ending I was expecting. Don't get me wrong, even knowing the ending I would read it again because the story is just that powerful!!!!

WTF MdM!!!

Do you enjoy making me cry? Is that a thing for you because let me tell you, you're really good at making me cry and that's just fucked up!!!! I can't even get into details so as to not ruin this book for future readers but be warned people...this book is fabulous but it will make you cry!!!!

I fucking love Watcher, he's like the big brother/loving father figure in everyone's life! An amazing man who had so many horrible things happen to him, who lost so many loved ones but this dude just kept it pushing. He's a great friend, brother, husband and father! I'm mad that the death of his mother and sister go unresolved, I'm hoping we get some answers in the next book because that is a mystery that needs to be cracked!

Juanita was sweet, went through hell but came out strong, thanks to Watcher, she was really sensitive which was a bit annoying, she came off as so needy sometimes, but then she showed her strength and love for her family so I let the neediness go. I love that she was Watcher's first, I couldn't believe it, he wasn't your typical biker manwhore, he was a fucking virgin..that's so fucking hot!!!! Here's this gorgeous alpha male, who has been in combat, has maimed and killed, went through two clubs and he was all thumbs when it came to being intimate with Juanita...so sweet and sexy!!! Juanita turned her horrendous experience into something beautiful..they were beautiful together and so very loyal to one another!

This read begins from Watcher's childhood and runs through the course of his life. We see events from past books through Watcher's eyes, MdM does an amazing job bringing everything together. Of course she also includes things the reader doesn't see coming so yeah...read, laugh, love and cry because despite the awful thing that happens, this was a great addition to an already wonderful series!

FYI: We definitely get to see a little more of Carmela and Hurley, not a lot but we do get some answers about their whirlwind romance!!!

** So I just found this review in my phone notes and realized I never added it anywhere - I am so sorry **

I find every time I read a MariaLisa book I struggle with rating it anywhere from 3-5 stars. Parts of it I want more , some less and some I just don't want to happen at all !! But regardless I always end up taking a day or two after and thinking about the story and the connections throughout the series and I get over some of the issues I had and really embrace the different writing style this author has. I am usually a straightforward dual POV type of reader BUT over the past years I have learned to enjoy and understand some unique styles of writing. I can't stop reading this series because I know what I will get with each story and it isn't even the present or future that I crave it is getting to know these characters way before their MC days and also re living some of the MC events with different POVs. Some would think that was boring but not with this author. The amount of detail and emotion you get is almost overwhelming. I will admit it always takes me way longer to read this author's stories than most and at times I kind of have to take notes on what is going on to keep things straight BUT again in the end I enjoy the whole picture and the way it is given to us readers.

Now lets talk about the SILVER FOX on the cover !! I mean I will say it was hard to get that image out of my head when we were in the midst of young Mikey BUT it did wonders for me when I was reading about the present time Watcher !! Now I won't say much about the ending because it was not anything I expected or wanted or was happy with BUT getting the full story of Watcher and all he went through was draining. He dealt with so much loss and heartache I can't even imagine. From his parents , to the war , to his sister and then to the things he witnessed in various MC clubs I was amazed he had a clear head and never turned to anything bad to help him through. He was a genuine guy and anyone was lucky to have him on their side. He may of thought less of himself at times but none of his family/friends ever agreed. Taking over his brother's legacy in their MC was something he took serious and the work he did and those he saved while doing so really gave this series so much more to be told. Seeing how he connected to Mason and the others we have known for so long was great and seeing some of those major events through his eyes was not only eye opening but also gave me a few pieces of certain characters I never would have known. As much as I hated the end I am glad to have gotten Watcher's piece of the story !!

I was pulled right into this story. The story flowed well and I was kept interested. The story has laughs, pain, abuse, love, betrayal, kidnapping, secrets, healing, and heartbreak.

If you have not read the below I would recommend reading those books(s) first
Mica (Rebel Wayfarers MC, #1)
A Sweet & Merry Christmas (Rebel Wayfarers MC, #1.5)
Slate (Rebel Wayfarers MC, #2)
Bear (Rebel Wayfarers MC, #3)
Jase (Rebel Wayfarers MC, #4)
Gunny (Rebel Wayfarers MC #5)
Mason (Rebel Wayfarers MC, #6)
Hoss (Rebel Wayfarers MC #7)
Harddrive Holidays (Rebel Wayfarers MC, #7.5)
Duck (Rebel Wayfarers MC #8)

This is Juanita and Watcher’s story. You get to grow up right along with Watcher. You feel the losses he feels time and time again. When he rescues Juanita you see even in a time of pain he can be so gentle and protective. These two have been through so much but in the end they can lean on each other for support through the good and the bad times. No matter what life throws at this couple they are sticking together. Both so strong at the core. They have to be for all they have overcome. This book will make you laugh, cry and want to smack some people. But in the end I totally love Watcher.

I loved both of these characters. Watcher is gentle and protective. As always you get background from the characters as they grow and learn. You get the ups and downs of them both. You get some much out of MariaLisa’s books. She pulls you in and then introduces you around to all the characters you knew from previous books. You get to see different sides and new prospective from them. I felt I was able to connect with the characters and the story was a great read.

I highly recommend this book and can’t wait for the next story in this series.

Up until reading Watcher, Mason was my favorite MC guy. Now; I'm not so sure anymore. I adored the character 'Watcher'. What a tough life growing up; so many horrible things happening in his young life yet he manages to keep his head on straight and focus on what is important - his young sister, so sweetly dear to him. I liked him from page one!

He has quite a journey before becoming an MC President, and what an MC president he ends up being. A wonderful husband to Juanita. A father to one natural daughter and a 'daughter of his heart'. So many sad things happen to him and yet he keeps his head up and his focus strong. I loved Juanita, too. What a loving partner for such a good man.

The characters: fantastic. We got more of Mason and Willa. Mason with his young son: beautifully written. We get many many GREAT characters along with BONES who I believe will have his own story told, soon. Can't wait, but the anticipation will be delicious indeed.

What I'm left with after reading WATCHER is that he is a man of honor, family, strength, character, and love. He'd give his life for a brother, his wife, daughters.....a good man is WATCHER. I'm sad that I'm done reading it and definitely will be rereading it again, and again.

MariaLisa deMora keeps adding to this series and someday rereading the whole thing will be a treat and a pleasure. The writing is GREAT. Nothing is missed; full emotions can be read and felt. MariaLisa deMora is in my top 10 FAVORITE writers. She's that good. Highly recommended.

Thank you.

I have been wanting to read this author for ages having seen her at a event last year but time can fly with now the time. Talk about a baptism with this one too into this series-the story will pull no punches and take a hold of you right from the start. Being my mother and her family were from Kentucky with many a summer spent there growing up could be I could also picture everything so vividly especially since a coal miner granddaughter I am. Michael will be the one that takes you piggy back on this one. The intensity fits with the characters, story being more like solid filled with life and the many that walk it in all shapes. The lifestyles that will soon be portrayed here are the stuff we love to read but it also is a prime example regardless there is good and bad in anything. When we see him later in this he will get his name Watcher. He so becomes his persona that I forget his real name. You will also be quick in seeing why the Rebel's are included thanks to Mason with me first time reader getting alot of history from this one. In this one we ride the road with him that is Watcher with not wanting any distractions for this one. The realism was up front in this one so much so forgot where and what I was doing at times. Drama galore with heat to fuel it with by the time I reach the end of this one I am spent plus shocked and mad she got me crying hard. Didn't see it coming but should of since this author knows how to write it real.

I am absolutely and utterly in love with the family that MariaLisa shares in each one of her Rebel Wayfarers MC stories. I love being drawn into their world each and every time I hit that first page. It is a familiar place. It is a wonderful place filled with men who are strong in their ties to each other and love their women so very big. Watcher was completely delicious. I loved seeing him overcome that horrible childhood to become the amazing man. To see him fall head over heart for his Nita and even deeper the longer they are together. And damn if it wasn't good to see Mason again and get even more of his backstory in connection with Watcher. I loved his story and can't wait to revisit the Rebels again soon.

I give Watcher 5 hearts!

Even though I finally enjoyed, & cried, at the end of this book I unfortunately can not give this anything hirer than a 3. That rating is based mostly on my personal reading experience. Being dyslexic & usually having to re-read to be able to comprehend what I’m reading kills my mood in reading, which took almost a month to finish this book alone. So having to do so with the back stories on almost every book has killed my wanting to continue this series. Even though I would love to read the future of Bones, Fury & more. These books were GREAT, they just go over previous experiences through the POV of the current characters. At least the POV’s are not retold verbatim word for word.

Thank-You I really did enjoy the stories.

Too many feels!!

Dammit, MariaLisa DeMora!! I'm so emotional right now!!
The Rebel Wayfarers series just keeps getting better and better. I didn't want to rush this book because it was like spending time with old friends, good friends whose individual attributes and personalities I love - every bit as much as their stories.
I can't wait for Bones' book, and am thankful for the novella (A Kiss To Keep You) which will tide me over in the meantime!

She did it to me again! Broke my heart MariaLisa! This series is not for the feint of heart and is all too realistic, but I love it! I'm addicted. And will put myself through it again with the next book. Just like life, the highs and lows are ever fluctuating and this book and series takes you on the highest of highs and lowest of lows. I think I need to go bury my emotions in some ice cream right about now.

Oh no!

Watcher is the kind of story you will love. He faces horrors of evil people, from being a young man to being an adult. He finds love and loves so strong. The evil creeps into his life on and off for decades and then at the end. Snot sobbed. What the hell Watcher, what the bloody hell?? Love this series so hard!!!

Ok so I’ve read the rest of the series and found myself obsessed with the characters and their lives! I truly believe you will love these characters and become obsessed as I was, definitely felt like I needed more. I couldn’t tell you my favourite character as they were all different, went through different trials and have all different relationships.
