Silver Bell Falls #2

Christmas On Pointe

Rate this book
It’s Christmastime again in Silver Bell Falls and the whole town is getting in the spirit to help ballet teacher Abby Foster achieve her dream of opening her own dance studio!

Dancing has been Abby’s dream for her entire life – but more than anything, she wanted that dream in her beloved hometown of Silver Bell Falls. Teaching ballet to children at the community center is fine, but she’ hoping for so much more – her own studio, her own business…not to mention maybe meeting Mr. Right and having a family of her own. For almost a year, she’s been picturing Dean Hughes in that role and if he wasn’t such a darn recluse, maybe she’d have a chance.

Solitude and Dean Hughes have always gone hand-in-hand. It wasn’t by choice, but because of circumstances beyond his control. And once again, things are out of his control when he finds himself being named permanent guardian for his five year old niece just in time for the holidays. Dean had always imagined that he’d have a family of his own someday, just not quite like this. With the support of his hometown friends, he knows he’s going to be okay. But it’s Abby’s help with his niece that’s making the biggest difference.

This isn’t the Christmas either of them has planned, but maybe it’s the chance for the most perfect one yet!

I started this book back in January and decided to do a Christmas in July and read this book today until I finished it. Samantha Chase is becoming a favorite and autobuy author for me. I like her writing style and I think she's a good storyteller. I enjoyed this book.

My Rating:

4.5

Favorite Quotes:

Most men suck at communicating, Abby. Like, they seriously suck at it. I've been married for over thirty years and I can say this with great certainty.

My Review:

Christmas on Pointe was a feel-good, sweet, and heartfelt small town romance between a single man, who was close to being the town recluse, and a nurturing and personable waitress/dance teacher. Forced to quickly transition from loner to instant caretaker for his young orphaned niece, Dean was rescued by Abby's willingness to step in and assist him with more than dance lessons for the five-year-old. The featured community was a pleasant and supportive one that pulled together to assist the sweet couple. Written from a third person POV, the story took place over a two-month period and progressed quickly with the endearing and charming couple being essentially adorable together. The storyline was easy to follow, relevant, gentle, and entertaining. The writing was sweet, emotive, and almost drama free with those special added touches of humor and clever insights that elevate a good story to an engaging one.

I so loved Christmas on Pointe by the incomparable Samantha Chase. This is a wonderful small town romance that makes a person move to a small town, well, me anyway. This is a book where everyone knows everyone, but also where everyone cares for, and supports each other.
Dean is a loner by choice. He never wants to be painted in the same light as his wild sister. Then the unthinkable happens, his sister dies in an accident and her daughter now needs a home and Dean is named as her guardian. He brings her home to Silver Bell Falls.
Abby’s biggest dream is to own a dance studio, but until that happens, she holds dance classes at the community center teaching ballet to the local children. Someday her dreams will come true, but until that happens, she is working at the local diner, where she meets Dean. She also thinks about finding “the one”, getting married and having a having a family of her own, and since meeting Dean, she thinks he will suit very well for “the one”, if her wasn’t such a loner…
I loved watching these two fall in love. Ms. Chase did a spectacular job writing this story. I loved watching Dean become less of a loner, and accepting what Abby and everyone else in town did for him. Watching Dean come to realize that everyone was not waiting for him to be like his sister, and most of all, come to the realization for himself that he was not his sister.
I am not going to say more because this really is a beautiful story of people coming together with love in their hearts to help each other. This is a wonderful Christmas story of love and romance.
Do you love a great mushy Christmas romance? Then this book is definitely for you. Now, go hit that one click button and read this fabulous book.
Kudos Ms. Chase on another winner. I have yet to read one of your books that did not pull on my heart strings.
Thank you for reading my review.

I loved it until we got to the Big Misunderstanding. I felt the heroine handled it very poorly and she lost my respect pretty quickly. Otherwise, it was really a feel-good story with loveable characters, zero drama, and a sweet romance.

This was cute. A little too insta-love with a kid involved but it all worked out. I thought that little Maya was amazing and she was really my favorite part of the whole story!

This was cute but not as good as the first book in the series. Still, the narration by Marietta DePrima was excellent.

DNF at 45%. It's perfectly fine. It's even very sweet and lovely. But it would have been great as a novella. There's just nothing keeping me interested. He likes her. She likes him. Great. Move on.

ARC Review: Christmas on Pointe (Silver Bell Falls) by Samantha Chase

Sometimes it takes a bump in the road to help us find our way. With Christmas on Pointe, Ms. Chase spins a beautiful tale of missed opportunities, optimism and the powerful force that puts everything in focus. LOVE! Abby is a dreamer. Her hopes don't always pan out, but she looks at the world with more of a glass half full mentality. If at first you don't succeed, keep trying until you do is her opinion. Dean is more of a realist. He sees things as they are, not as they could be. When life throws him another curveball in the form of his five year old niece, his life, his heart and his home will never be the same. Christmas on Pointe is a story of faith, miracles and family. Captures the meaning of the season as it casts a spell on the heart.

A feel-good story with extremely likable characters set in a genuinely idyllic spot with only a gentle dose of angst!

"I kind of fantasized about watching you dance. Just for me."
Wow. That was totally unexpected too. “Like a striptease?” she asked, slightly confused.
He shook his head. “No. More like just what you do in class. But… just for me. And maybe…just wearing something sexy.”

CHRISTMAS ON POINTE by Samantha Chase is a sweet and heartfelt holiday novella that will leave you smiling and contented. It is written from a third person point-of-view over a period of approximately two months and is set in the small unspoiled town of Silver Bell Falls, a wonderful, supportive community. It is the story of ballet teacher Abby Foster and the town’s recluse, Dean Hayes.

Abby is a trained ballet dancer who lovingly shares her talent with the kids of Silver Bell Falls in the town’s community center while dreaming of owning her own dance studio with the wherewithal to offer an assortment of classes for all ages some day. In the meantime, she waitresses at a local diner and fantasizes about a life with Dean. She has been crushing on Dean for about a year.

Dean has spent his life proving that he is as different from his wild sister as could be. When Dean returns to town after dealing with his sister’s death accompanied by Maya, his newly orphaned five-year-old niece, in tow, he stops by the cafe before heading home. He’s understandably overwhelmed with his new circumstances which transitioned from being a loner to a small child’s caretaker overnight and he’s clueless as to how he’s going to juggle everything he now has on his plate… until Abby steps in.

Dean has always noticed Abby at the diner. If truth be told, he looked forward daily to seeing her smile and exchanging a few words with her. Abby is known for her very generous nature and others have taken advantage of that facet of her personality in the past. As soon as Abby becomes aware of Dean’s plight, she volunteers to help with Maya’s after-school care while he gets his footings. It just so happens that Maya has always dreamed of being a dancer. AND who better than Abby to make Maya’s fantasy come true?

Together, Dean, Abby and Maya begin to see possibilities beyond their current makeshift situation. But, change isn’t always easy. Can the threesome find their way to a new bright future where everyone’s dreams can come true?

Following please find a few of my favorite quotes from CHRISTMAS ON POINTE:

“Dean? Are you okay?”
“Huh? What?”
“Are you okay?” she repeated, taking a step closer to him. “You sort of zoned out there for a moment and had a strange look on your face.”
Before he could second-guess himself or chicken out, he took a step closer – closing the gap between them. “I’m fine,” he said gruffly. “But I need to do this.”
And then he lowered his head and claimed her lips with his.
---
Her body was so slim, so… everything. His hands began to twitch with the need to touch her. Wearing deep purple lace to cover her breasts, she looked so damn perfect.
Then she sighed his name.
And he was lost.
---
“I can’t think of a better way to start my day.”
“Get used to it,” he murmured, right before he kissed her.

I would recommend that you snuggle into your softest wrap in a comfy recliner, put some logs on the fire, and delve into CHRISTMAS ON POINTE for a guaranteed warm fuzzies’ ambiance. It truly would be perfect as one of those Hallmark Christmas movies as it’s such a feel-good story with extremely likable characters set in a genuinely idyllic spot with only a gentle dose of angst.

I’ve not yet read the first tale set in Silver Bell Falls, CHRISTMAS IN SILVER BELL FALLS, but I plan to rectify that omission soon! No worries, though. CHRISTMAS ON POINTE works beautifully as a stand-alone read. The story adds up as a wonderful escape and all you have to do is open the book. If I had one complaint, it was that I didn’t want this delightful tale with these lovely characters to end.

This Christmas romance series will be my new must read during the holidays! I usually don't read that many romance stories but this is just right with a cute town and friendly people. I would say book 2 had unnecessary drama moment and I took out half a star for it. 3.5✩

Book 2 focuses on two Silver Bell Falls locals, Dean and Abby. Dean became a guardian of his 5 year old niece after his sister passed away in a car accident. Abby works at a local diner with a dream to have her own ballet studio.

The perfect Christmas book filled with love and family. When Maya's mother suddenly passes she is left in the care of her Uncle Dean. Dean has been the recluse in Silver Bell falls and although he loves the small town he stays to himself. That is until Maya decides she wants to be a ballerina and the dance school teacher happens to catch Dean's eye. Will Abby join Maya and Dean and become an instant family? Or will dance be the only thing that they have in common? I fell in love with Maya from the minute she came into the book. Nothing better than finding your true love and getting a family to support you all around the Christmas holiday. An awesome book!!

Very sweet book, Ioved all the characters, though with it being a companion novel I wish I would have seen the main characters from the first book in this one more!

I think I've reached my limit on cute cheesy Christmas novels, so I will not be finishing the series.

The first book in this series was cute enough and much more about Christmas than it was about sex (in that I would describe it as a clean romance). This book is almost nothing to do with Christmas, and while not the most graphic book I've read, too much sex. I wanted a cute Christmas story, so boo.

Fantastic Christmas story! Abby & Dean were wonderfully suited, and throw in Maya and you get a sweet family in the making. Silver Bell Falls was like a mythical town where everyone pitches in and no one is left behind. Wonderful writing from Samantha Chase! Dean just can't get enough of his woman, "...with a wicked smile, he looked down at Abby. “I have an hour before I have to leave. I know I should let you sleep but…” I really loved this book, Dean was a good guy, and Abby was so sweet.

Samantha Chase's Christmas on Pointe was NOT a disappointment. I loved Dean, Maya and Abby.

When Dean who was known as the town's recluse found out he was the guardian of his 5 year old niece his world came crashing. He had no clue how to be a guardian to a 5 year old little girl. Maya lost her dad and then lost her mom (Dean's sister) just days in a drunk driver accident. Karen (Dean's sister) was known around Silver Bell Falls as the wild child and Dean did not want that same title or people thinking he was like her. Thus the town recluse. He kept to himself. Now for the year Abby worked at the diner she would always make sure Dean sat in her area and she would always try to strike up a conversation with him but never got more than a few words out of him. She had the biggest crush on him and didn't like when the town's people called him a recluse.

When Josiah came into the diner looking really down and drained that's when everyone found out the Dean's sister had been killed, typical small town gossip chain. But one thing good about a small town everyone always was right there to pitch in and help where they could.. Without getting into the story too much, I loved when the town pitched in got a room fixed up for Maya in Dean's house, brought over enough home cooked casseroles to last them a week and tried to help out as much as they could. Here's where our Abby steps up to the plate. Seeing Dean struggling and stressing she defused a few moments, and offered to have Dean bring Maya be the dance studio so she could watch a class and see if that's what she wanted to do. Maya was so into pink tutu's, pick slippers and basically pink everything. Abby even offered to grab Maya from school and bring her to dance and the days there was no dance she would take her home with her and Dean could pick her up after work. Yep you guessed it Maya and Abby became very attached but so did Dean. There were some heart felt moments, some laugh out loud moments and a lot of warm and fuzzies. I think if you haven't read this series you really need to go grab it. You won't be disappointed.

My thoughts: 🔖Page 78 of 217 [Chapter] FIVE - This story is adorable. I love this couple and Maya is the highlight of the story.
🔖104 [Chapter] SEVEN - I wasn't expecting that.

This was almost perfect. It would have gotten the full 5 stars if wasn't for the conflict in the story, I just couldn't see why that was an issue. I'm looking forward to the next book.

Recommend to others: Yes. This series is very nice and has a good balance between humor and romance.

I love everything about Christmas, so I was excited to be given an ARC copy of this novella. This story is all about magical dreams coming true and I really enjoyed reading it.

Abby is a dance teacher who dreams of having her own studio…. but while she is trying to get together enough money to open her studio, she works as a waitress in the town diner. Dean is a loner and does not talk much or socialize when he comes into the diner, but Abby knows when he is there … she has harbored a secret crush on him for a long time.

An unexpected family situation brings Maya, Dean’s niece, to Silver Bell Falls to live with him. He is at a loss as to how to be a surrogate dad to her. Maya stole my heart.. I fell in love with her right away. She wants to learn to dance and who better to teach her than Abby!

While Maya is learning to dance, Dean is learning how to love again… his hardened heart is slowly melted by the sweet and sexy dance teacher. And Abby's crush turns into much much more!

Find yourself a comfy chair, a cup of hot cocoa and spend some time in Silver Bell Falls. You will definitely be in the mood for Christmas when you finish this book!

Perfectly sweet

A sweet romance, a family in the making and a dream town.

Silver Bell Falls is idyllic and the perfect find of love, community, family and Christmas magic. In the second book of the series we find two people who know each other, but have not connected romantically until a family tragedy strikes one.

Abby is sweet and full of joy and a great representation of the people of Silver Bell Falls. Her spirit of community and giving back plays a strong part in this story as the town comes together to help her with her dream. Dean is a recluse who loves his home town and has his life flipped round her the beginning of the book. There romance is slow, but full of chemistry and meaningful moments. Maya and her character is so sweet and her storyline, especially with several stories are just bittersweet and sad. This family grows so much in this story and I do believe they are some fo my favorite Silver Bell Falls residents!

*The sheriff makes an appearance several times in this book and so does Melanie, but it is not necessary to read the first book to enjoy or follow this story. I do recommend reading both books as this is a delightful series!

Another winner in this series!

I can't wait to read the rest! This book is totally character oriented. Dean has pretty much hidden himself away from the world, but now his sister is dead and he finds himself guardian to a sweet little girl, Maya. Abby has been watching him for a year, wishing he would notice her. Now all of a sudden, he does. There is so much emotion in this story. You will smile, cry, laugh and sigh at different times in this story. There is a fast pace, a hopeful tone and a character oriented storyline with some mild steam and realistic, well developed and endearing characters. I loved watching Dean and Abby both interact with Maya and each other. This is book 2, so get and read book 1 if you prefer to read in chronological order, like I do. If not, you can just start here and enjoy! But if you do, I bet you won't be able to resist going back and reading book 1! Enjoy!

When Dean was notified that his sister died he rushed to meet up his parents to help with his niece. After a few days his parents informed him they were heading home and he need to start figuring out how to make life stable for her. Once Dean and Maya got back to Silver Bell Falls Dean figured out quickly that he couldn't do this on his own, and when Abby offered to help out after school he was relieved.
Abby works in the diner to help pay the bills until she is able to own her own dance studio. For now she uses a room in the community center, but this is limiting the the amounts of classes she can have. When she offered to help Dean with Abby, she didn't know how much her life would change.
Having Maya come to Silver Bell Falls was a huge change for her, but it also changed Deans and Abby's life. What will the season bring to their lives?

So excited to return to Silver Bell Falls for another wonderful written Christmas story. Some times life just throw you curves when you are not ready for them, but you pick up the pieces on life gets better. That is what happens when Dean becomes guardian to his niece, Maya, who is only five years old. Abby, ballet instructor and waitress at the town diner has offered her help. As Dean and Abby brighten the holidays for Maya, it also the brightens the romance between them.

A wonderful written Christmas story that will sure brighten everyone's holiday season from making cookies to the tree trimming and the Christmas parade. I highly recommend this story while sitting in front of your Christmas tree.

Christmastime in Silver Bell Falls is a magical time. Samantha does such a great job describing all of the elements of the town, I can picture myself here.
Dean is a quiet loner, while Abby is a bubbly dancer. Abby has been crushing in Dean for some time now. Just when Dean has his life turned upside down Abby is there to step in and help out. Feelings will develop, but will it be love? After some miss steps and some lack of communication will these two every really find the happily ever after they both desire? You will not regret reading this book and finding out. Perfectly timed to get you in the holiday spirit.

Though there were numerous FTB scenes, I still really enjoyed this story, even more so than the previous one!

Definitely a feel good story about a reclusive guy thrown headfirst into guardianship of his 5 year old niece after the death of his sister. I do think that Dean’s parents could have explained why they couldn’t take Maya a bit more and stayed to help the transition, but everyone deals with grief in their own way.

I also appreciated how not all of the focus was on the town and it’s obsession with Christmas like the previous story was. I also wish we had seen more of Melanie and Josiah, but it was nice to see them when they did show up! 4/5.

When bachelor Dean gets the sole responsibility of his five year old niece Maya he feels lost until Abby the local dance instructor/waitress steps in and becomes more just neighborly. I loved how this story progressed and developed. Maya brought tears to my eyes more than once with stories of her past with her mother. That little girl wrapped herself around my heart. Such a sweet story and it was filled with love but it wasn't all smooth sailing. I recommend this series, author and book. I am in love with Silver Bell Falls.
