Cheryl Brigham never had a need for a bucket list before.
At thirty her priorities change and she steps way outside her comfort zone when she boards a plane to the City of Lights itself. It’s time for her to finally visit the Louvre. She struggles with basic French, and the thought of relying on something other than her wings to fly, but she won’t let that stop her from having the trip of a lifetime. She’s earned it.
She expected to find art at every turn and she did. Monet. Da Vinci. Delaroche. Manet. Michelangelo.
What she didn’t count on was having two different guys, one American and one French, vying for her affections. She also didn’t count on her normally distant heart betraying her. Never one for love, they said no strings, but she couldn’t let him go, even once he was gone.
When he shows back up in her life, everything she’d worked so hard to achieve falls apart. It seems as if heaven and hell are conspiring against the happily ever after she never even knew she wanted.
Randi doesn’t take herself seriously, and neither should you. Depending on the day, she’ll claim to be a beach girl (not a lie, that’s where she grew up) or a little too country (not really a lie either, she lives in Kentucky). She’s a perfectionist (a blessing and a curse), a little bit obsessive-compulsive about grammar, a lot neurotic about stupid things like eating cake, and is too sarcastic for her own good. She has too many dogs, a handful of cats, and a kid to keep her busy. She’d much rather be curled up with a dog, a book, and a glass of Moscato than going out and doing stuff because introverting is cool. (And adulting is not.)
She refuses to stay in her own damn lane, writing some contemporary romance and some paranormal romance (but her favorite to write is PNR). She’s the author of All the Wrong Places (Melange Books), a full-length contemporary novel, and contemporary romance novellas, Spar, (Moirae Publishing) and Anticipating Temptation (Melange Books). She also wrote a PNR trilogy, a gay romance novella, and had short stories published in anthologies that are all now out of print. (Good things don’t last forever.)
This was a wonderful follow up story for Cheryl after Virtue of Death which was Sera's tale. Cheryl finally travels to France since she no longer has her wings. But still there's the struggle between good and evil, as she is tugged between the man she meets on the flight and her attractive upstairs neighbor, both of whom have their own history with each other. Add in he's a Virtue like Cheryl once was, a demonic force that is trying to destroy her, Michael's replacement Jude discouraging Luc from spending time with a fallen, and it all was a great read. I actually called out of work to have time to finish reading this because i needed to see how it ended. And Randi tossed in a bunch of twists even at the end i wouldn't have ever guessed. I want a third but i don't know where else we could go unless it's to follow that surprise Sera dropped near the end..... i just know i want more of this world from this author
Ideal for fans of romance, the paranormal, and questioning fate, Promises of Virtue is the story of fallen angel, Cheryl, as she travels to Paris and finds unexpected passion with tough, artsy (SEXY) Frenchman Luc. If Cheryl thought she had secrets, Luc has more--and his are pretty dang dangerous. I loved Cheryl in the first book; I love her more now. And Luc is adorable, especially when he's being hot and bossy in the bedroom. As an enthusiastic Perrin fan, I adore this addition to her repertoire. Highly recommended.
This is book 2 in the Earthbound Angels series. YOU MUST READ VIRTUE OF DEATH before reading this book. Otherwise there will be major spoilers.
Cheryl Brigham was an Earthbound Angel until she broke the rules and lost her wings. Now a fallen angel, she decides to start a new life by moving to Chicago with her best friend, and fellow fallen angel, Sera. Before she settles in, she decides to do something she has always wanted to do, and that is to travel to Paris for a month and experience as much of the art Paris has to offer for the month she plans to be gone.
One thing Cheryl never planned on was love. She is not cut out for happily ever after. All this comes into question on the flight there when she meets Adam. He is charming and handsome. Adam offers to help Cheryl while in Paris to get her settled since she doesn't speak French very well. They spend time together and there seems to be a definite attraction between them.
However, Cheryl comes across a sexy Adonis when she goes for a run one day. She kind of follows him while on the run but ends up losing him. She coincidentally runs into him again and they get to talking and he introduces himself as Luc. As it turns out, Luc lives in the same building that Cheryl is staying. She is more than relieved that she will get to see more of this beautiful man.
Cheryl is torn between Adam and Luc. She loves spending time with both of them, but she seems to be more drawn to Luc. Cheryl loves art and Luc is just as passionate about it, and to top it off, he is also an artist. Her choice becomes easy when it turns out that Adam wasn't truthful about something and she ended things between them. She focused on Luc and seeing as much of Paris as she could.
As she spent time with Luc, she began to think that he was hiding something from him. It all became clear one day when found out that Luc didn't drink. Finally it all made sense...Luc was an Earthbound Angel.
As they spent more time together, Cheryl and Luc realized how much they enjoyed each other's company. However, since Cheryl's time there was short lived they came to an agreement of no strings. Cheryl was fine with that arrangement. She was never the hearts and flowers kind of girl and Luc was more the love them and leave them type of man. When there are no strings, what do you do when your heart becomes tangled up?
I enjoyed this story. Cheryl was a favorite in the first book and I was looking forward to reading her story. The chemistry between her and Luc was so exhilarating. They were so perfect for each other. Who better to understand Luc's responsibilities as an Earthbound Angel, then a former angel. It was a match made in Heaven. Excellent job by Randi Perrin. I have read more than one of her books, and have enjoyed all of them immensely. I am a fan for life.
After reading the first book in this series I was interested to see where the author was going to go. The whole concept of the first book was different and I really enjoyed that so I had high hopes for this book.
I liked Cheryl's character. She makes the most of what has happened and does something she wanted to do. I loved seeing her internal struggle throughout the book. It made it a lot easier to connect with her.
I'm not going to talk about the other characters because o liked both of them and don't want to risk spoilers. It each man has their own set of great qualities.
The plot is A slight paranormal romance, but at the same time it's a triangle. Two great guys and one girl that has no clue what she's doing, and she has to make a decision. I really liked the twists and turns that the author had the story go in. I was blindsided a few times.
I loved seeing Sera and Destin! I really liked them in the first book and their love play out, that I was fun seeing them again in this book. I highly suggest reading book one before reading this book just due to the fact that you'll have a more in-depth look at the dynamic that the three of them have, and Cheryl's character.
Overall, this was a great follow up to book 1. I look forward to reading more. The author really doesn't amazing job with the whole fallen angel aspect. It's not something that's done a lot so I thoroughly enjoyed it. The author did a great job with the description of the whole Paris culture, and I found myself really wanting to go to Paris .4 stars #2OCCJD
Promise of Virtue by Randi Perrin a sublime five-star read. This is the second book in the Earthbound Angles series, and you do need to have read the first book in the series Virtue of Death before starting this one, as otherwise it would spoil the story for you, and it’s worth reading both. Cheryl Bingham has given everything she once knew up for love, and not even her own love. When she doesn’t know what to do next she ends up on vacation in Paris, after a couple of chance encounters with not one but two men, who both turn her head, and one possibly more. Some no strings holiday fun sounds exactly what Cheryl needs. Until it’s time to go home, then she realises she may have walked away from something she doesn’t want to walk away from. Randi Perrin writes Angels that aren’t fluffy winged beings that keep the peace, she brings a different side to the coin, and shows us a side to them that tells a different more compelling story.
Promises of Virtue is the second book in the Earthbound Angels series by Randi Perrin. It is a paranormal romance and contains adventure, suspense, mystery, love, loss, miracles, sacrifice, Angels and Demons. We met Cheryl Brigham in book one, in Sera’s story- she and her best friend Sera were Earthbound Angels- Sera was an Angel of Death and Cheryl was an Angel of Mercy. Unfortunately their wings and special abilities were removed as punishment for breaking the rules- they are now fallen angels. Cheryl and Sera had both worked in Sera’s bakery together- but when Sera moved to Chicago to be with her boyfriend, Cheryl moved too. They haven’t been there that long; Cheryl has been floundering a little bit, as she is at a loss as what to do with herself. She decides that this is the perfect time to go to Paris and fulfil her long held dream of visiting the Louvre, and immersing herself in the art and culture. So she packs her bags and jets off for a month long vacation, full of excitement and expectation. She was never really interested in falling in love, she didn’t normally go past the first date- hearts and flowers weren’t really her style. So the last thing she was thinking about on her trip was romance. But sometimes fate has a way of intervening and Cheryl finds herself in the position of meeting two men that she is attracted to. She is quite confused because she likes them both and enjoys spending time with them. But there are secrets that are being kept and danger seems to be following close by. What dangers are lurking and why? Who will win Cheryl’s heart and what’s so special about him? What happens when her month is up? Will it be easy to leave it all behind her? What happens when she gets home? I really enjoyed the first book and had high expectations for this book- I am happy to say that Ms. Perrin didn’t disappoint; in fact, the book is even better than I hoped it would be. The story is really well written; with Ms. Perrin's vividly painted details and descriptions making it so easy to get completely immersed in the story. She is a gifted story teller, who skilfully added suspense and adventure to a beautiful romance and then sprinkled a lot of humour and emotion into her story. I loved the twists and surprises- and thought the ending was divine. This has a quick pace and flows smoothly. It is easy to read, I read it in a day.
It is a wonderful second instalment, I look forward to the next book-thank you Ms. Perrin!
Promises of Virtue By Randi Perrin is a paranormal romance written in multiple points of view. This is the second book In the Earthbound Angels series. A lot happens in book one and for you to really connect and understand the full story I feel that you should read book one. Cheryl is a virtue angel who has fallen from grace. She fell with her best friend Sera to save Seras love Destin. Cheryl has always wanted to go to France so she decides to Go and see all the art and things she is dying to see. On the flight over she meets Adam and they spark a friendship. After she gets to France and gets settled in she visits the Louvre. Where she meets Luc. She impresses him with her knowledge and opinions of art. They have a huge attraction to each other. Before long Cheryl is literally in a love triangle. She makes her choice after truths come to light. In the meantime a past love of Lucs keeps rearing her ugly head and making things more difficult. Luc and Cheryl are just having a fun no strings attached vacation romance but will it really end up no strings attached? I have to be honest and say I liked book one more than this one. Don't get me wrong this was still a good book but I don't feel like I was as connected to Cheryl and her love interest as I was with Sera and Destin. It could be that I don't speak French and I didn't always understand everything so that's totally my bad and I'll start taking French asap! Anyway I did like this book though I would say about halfway through it got really good with everything. Lots of stuff started happening around 80% in and I didn't want to quit reading it to go to bed. I loved Cheryl's reactions to some of the things she was seeing and the description to detail was good enough I could see it in my head. The author has writing talent and I was engrossed in the story and enjoyed it. This was a fun series and I am glad I got to read it. 4 star rating.
Usually, as a reader, I hold my breathe when a sequel comes out. Will it be as good as the first or will it let me down and have me running for the hills? Well, Promises of Virtue knocked it out of the park! While I loved the first one, Sera and Devin were adorable together, there's something about a romantic, miracle working angel who speaks french. Oh and is sexy as sin (hands off he's mine!) that makes me turn to mush!
The story had twists and turns but what I loved about it, is those twists didn't take away from the dynamic chemistry between Luc and Cheryl. While reading their adventures, I felt like I was right there in France each step of the way, touring the museums, tasting the food (yummm crepes). Randi Perrin is able to take her words and transport us to these places, causing my tastes buds to water with each bite of food Luc and Cheryl had!
I tip my hat off to you Randi and can't wait to read more of the Earthbound Angel series!
Promises of Virtue is Book 2 of three books in the Earthbound Angels Series. It continues the story of Cheryl Brigham; a fallen angel from Book 1. It is recommended to read Book 1 first. The books are paranormal romance stories involving Earthbound Angels. Earthbound Angels are chosen by a higher spiritual being when they are eighteen. They have to abide by rules in order to keep their immortality, their wings and their powers. Rules include no swearing, drinking or lying; they must always tell the truth. Break or abuse the rules and you lose your wings forever: you fall. Now Cheryl has lost her wings and her BFF is planning to get married, she feels it is time to move forward with her life and take up her love of art once more and travel. She decides to go to France to fulfil her ambition of wandering around the museums and the galleries of Paris, especially The Louvre. She isn’t particularly looking for romance – she just wants a break to enjoy art. Whilst on the flight she meets a very attractive man called Adam who is very helpful to her when they arrive in Paris as she doesn’t speak French. Adam is full of secrets and she begins to realise that he is not what he seems to be. On her daily morning run she spies another very attractive man (Luc) also on a daily run. Although Cheryl ‘doesn’t do romance’ it seems romance is looking out for Cheryl. When she meets Luc she intuitively realises he is also not what he seems. Torn between the two men (who take exception to each other) Cheryl has to make a decision; which one will she choose? Where will romance lead her? Promises of Virtue: was an easy book to read. It moved at a steady (sometimes fast) pace with something happening all the time to keep you turning the pages. I read this in about two sittings, an ideal choice for holiday reading. I am looking forward to reading Book 3 in the series. Randi Perrin’s character (Cheryl) developed realistically throughout this book which never lost sight of what had happened to her previously in Book 1. I could feel her annoyance and confusion over the two men who each wanted her. She wasn’t slow in putting the pieces of the puzzles together to find the truth behind each of the men. Happily she makes the obviously right choice for her. She trusted her instincts and used her intuition to make her Happy Ever After. Adam and Luc were also multi-dimensional characters being realistic and honest. It was also good that Sera (Cheryl’s BFF and her fiancée Destin) featured in the story. I would recommend anyone to read Randi Perrin’s books.
Cheryl is a fallen angel, an earthbound fallen angel. She lost her wings after 12 years as a angel of miracles, when she sacrificed her wings for her best friends happiness at love. After getting her best friend settled in her new life in Chicago, heads to Paris to take in her favorite passion ART. But unknown to her she will also loose her heart when she least expects too.
Luc is an artist, an earthbound angel the same virtue as Cheryl once was. Luc isn't into romance and relationships, he saw first hand with ex fiancee what love is all about, when she ends up pregnant & he knows isn't his due to earthbound angels unable to produce offsprings. He is comfortable with living a life without romance, love and relationship until a dark pixie hair, gray eye angel enters his life. Will she be able to change his attitude on romance and relationships or will he let the the past let her get away.
Promises of Virtue is Randi Perrin's second book in the Earthbound Angels series and the best so far. I was kind of skittish when I started this series with Virtue of Death (Sera & Destin story), I am not much into paranormal but OMG did Randi make me change my mind! Especially when it is about Angels, Angels here on earth. I am a firm believer that there are angels her on earth and Randi just confirmed my belief! The detail in each of Randi's books makes you feel like you are right there with the characters as she is telling the story. I had a few giggles, a few tears and cheering Luc & Cheryl on, that is what makes for a great romance for this reader. Even tho Promises of Virtue was the second book in the Earthbound Angels series it can be read alone, but take this readers advice if you read Promise of Virtue you will defintely want to pick up Virture of Death and read Sera and Destin's book to find out why Cheryl lost her wings. If you haven't read a Randi Perrin book yet, you are missing out so many good reads. I recommend you pick up a copy of Randi Perrin's Promises of Virtue or any other one of books and find out why Randi has become one of this readers new favorite authors! Randi thank you for sending this series my way!

Promises of Virtue by Randi Perrin is the fantastic follow up to Virtue of Death. This time following Sera’s best friend, and fellow fallen angel, Cheryl the story takes you on a trip that you are unlikely to forget in a hurry.
“Life isn’t smooth and easy. It is a series of rough brushstrokes that altogether create something amazing.”
Cheryl hadn’t planned for her life to be turned upside down. Not that she wouldn’t make the same sacrifice again. If given the option she would make the same choice as she had done in a heartbeat. But now she is left without a clue as to what she should be doing with her life. Deciding to relish in the first taste of freedom she has ever had Cheryl takes off for a month in France to fulfil her artistic nature.
“Death is not dark and desolate. It’s light and warm.”
Luc is feeling uninspired by life. He has been struggling with his paintings or months, something his manager is not too pleased about. But as a jaded earthbound he is struggling as to where he can find anything new to fire up his artistic senses. That is until he meets Cheryl. Having previously been burnt he is wary of Americans but it doesn’t take long before she has wormed her way into his life and into his heart. Even better is the fact that she seems to know all about what he is.
When tragedy strikes and their new relationship is put to the test it looks like that it isn’t meant to withstand the obstacles in their way. But when trouble looms the two must work together to find a way before it becomes too late to do anything.
This was an absolutely fantastic follow up to the first book and has easily become my favourite out of the two. With all the trademarks of Cheryl’s feisty personality combined with the easy sexy that Luc pulls off effortlessly their chemistry is evident. And while it would have been easy to rely on the unique story of earthbound angels that made the first book so good the author pushes the boundaries to produce an exemplary piece of work. A worthy follow up and one that I will be revisiting.
Promises of Virtue by Randi Perrin is book two in the Earthbound Angels series and it’s definitely a 5 star. I loved the first book and this one is no different, Randi is quickly becoming one of my favorite authors. I had very high hopes for this book after reading the first book and this one managed to exceed my expectations. The Earthbound Angels series is brilliant with the unique storyline, the heartbreaking moments, the unexpected twists, and the charming characters. This series is a must read!
“I fell, from a height you can’t even imagine.”
Cheryl has been questioning herself and her purpose since she lost her wings. She’ll never regret her decisions that led to that but it came at a high price. For 12 years she was an Earthbound Angel and now she’s nothing more then a mortal with a love for art. Deciding that she needs a change she decides to go on a month long vacation to France. Along the way she meets two incredible men, men who have the ability of changing her whole life. She never imagined that she would meet a man while on vacation, let alone two. Adam and Luc are polar opposites; they are on completely different paths in life, both expecting something different. Cheryl is intrigued by both of them, unsure of what she really wants. Luc would be a constant reminder of the life she lost while Adam would represent a fresh start at life, her decision won’t be easy and only time will tell.
Randi Perrin has this way of writing that will have you completely captivated by the story from the start; everything is so beautifully described that you can easily picture everything playing out. I was so excited to start this book as I was really intrigued by Cheryl in the first book; she and Sera have this incredible bond that is like no other. I loved that Sera made quite a few appearances throughout the story, it wouldn’t have been the same without her. I absolutely cannot recommend this series enough! I look forward to reading more of Randi’s work in the future!
When I reviewed Virtue of Death, the first book in Randi Perrin’s Earthbound Angels series, I wrote “I wish we’d had something from the perspective of Cheryl, Sera’s best friend, as well.”. In Promises of Virtue, the second book in the series, my wish has been granted!
At the end of Virtue of Death, Sera encourages the constantly generous Cheryl to finally do something for herself, and follow her dream of visiting the art galleries of Paris. In Promises of Virtue, we travel with Cheryl to Paris to discover art, love (it is Paris, after all!) and adventure.
One of the things I loved most about Virtue of Death was the descriptions of food - I was constantly hungry reading it and felt like I could almost taste the delicious baked goods Sera produced. In Promises of Virtue, there is still plenty of delicious food to read about but we see that Perrin’s gift for description extends beyond the edible. I really felt like I was present in the galleries, gardens and castles that Cheryl visited, and the book left me longing to visit Paris again!
Promises of Virtue develops on the world of angels and demons that the reader is exposed to in the previous book. We meet more angels, and discover things about the demons that lurked in Virtue of Death.
The narrative perspective alternates between chapters, helping the reader to connect with the different characters and see both sides of the many misunderstandings that occur. Although Sera and Destin do not go to Paris, they still play a part in the story with scenes at the beginning and end set in Chicago and plenty of international Skype calls!
I give this book five stars. I thoroughly enjoyed getting to know Cheryl better, and against the Parisian background it makes for a wonderful book. I’d definitely recommend starting with the first book, but there is enough backstory and explanation in Promises of Virtue if you decide to dive in at book 2!
Cheryl Brigham is not a huge fan of love nor does she believe in it, even though her best friend Sara seems to have found it with Destin. When Cheryl decides to go to Paris she meets a man named Adam on the plane who definitely peaks her interest. Then inside of the Louvre she meets another man named Luc Chevalier who also intrigues Cheryl.
But what Cheryl doesn't realize is that the pasts of Luc and Adam are intertwined and Cheryl will need to decided where her alliances are. But when she figures out something about Luc that he is trying to keep secret will she allow herself to fall?
This is the second book in the Earthbound Angels series and while this one can be read as a standalone it is better to have read the first one initially to learn more about Cheryl and what happened to her and Sara.
I really liked Cheryl from the first book and her dedication to Sara. Their friendship was solid and I loved that she decided to do something for herself and go to Paris. I also really liked that she was "courted" by two different guys who were completely different. Then when I learned the link between the two I knew who I wanted Cheryl to choose but I just had to wait to see if she was going to choose who I wanted her to.
I liked Luc right from the beginning as I knew what he was. I felt so bad for him with what he went through with Rebekah and the blame that was placed on him when everything went wrong. I can't believe her family was so welcoming to Adam when they could do the math and figure out what really happened. I loved how much he was truly willing to sacrifice to do his job.
Initially I think I was under the same spell as Cheryl when it came to Luc but then when I saw another side I was super mad. I can't believe how fast he fell when he just got his daughter back.
I really enjoyed this story and looking forward to more from this author.
Promises of Virtue (Earthbound Angels Book 2) by Randi Perrin
5 Stars
My second book by this author and I'm falling more and more in love with her writing.
This is Cheryl's story, Sera’s best friend from book 1. This book picks up right where Virtue of Death leaves off. Now that Cheryl has fallen she is flying off to Paris for a month to take in everything and anything regarding her love of art. Before her plane leaves the ground she meets Adam, a man that sits next to her and after learning that she is struggling with learning French, he offers to help her. When she arrives in Paris he also helps her to her apartment. She knows he wants to see her again, she's not really into the relationship, happily ever after thing, she doesn't even do the second date thing. After giving him her email and agreeing to a date they go their separate ways. While out for a run a gorgeous man runs by her and all thoughts of anything else just vanish. After meeting him and finding out that he lives right upstairs from her apt, she realizes that she might be in trouble. When Adam and Luc meet Cheryl realizes there's something going on, and it is becoming obvious that there are a lot of secrets she is not aware of. As first dates turn into second ones, and decisions need to be made, she enters into a no strings attached agreement. Problem is her no strings get all tangled up, and when an accident at home cuts her vacation short, she heads home heartbroken, even though she won't admit it. Then a night out with Sera at an art show changes everything, or does it?
I loved checking back in with Sera and Destin, I love all these characters and these storylines are fantastic and kept me hooked all the way through. To truly get the full effect you really need to read these books in order. I can't wait for the next in this series. Loved It!!
Promises of Virtue is he second book in the Earthbound Angels series. We had met Cheryl in the first book and I was so glad to see Cheryl get her own story and follow up with Sera and Destin.
Cheryl and Sera have been best friends since they were little girls and they were earth bound angels together until they both fell after breaking the rules to save someone. They end up in Chicago so Sera and Destin can start their lives together and Cheryl can get a fresh start. Cheryl plans a month-long trip to Paris so she can spend her time at the museums and see all of the classic artist and their works. She has no idea how this trip will impact her future. She meets a guy by the name of Adam on the plane and they talk the entire flight over and he helps her get checked into her room.
Luc is an artist in Paris and a Virtue like Cheryl use to be. He is heading home on the subway after a long day of working on murals for a new local orphanage which is set to open the following week. He is already looking forward to his long hot shower when his back starts itching which is a sign that he has a job to do. He is racing through the tunnels to find where he needs to be when there is an explosion. As he flies over the crowd to find who he is to save he finds a group of four children with a woman who is trying her best to keep the children calm.
Cheryl sees Luc as she is out running and is drawn to him so she follows him on his run and later runs into him at the museum where he discovers her passion for art is as strong as his.
There are lots of twists and turns is this story but it turns out to be a happy ending for everyone. I have a hard time letting go of characters so I’m really hoping there is a third book just to tie up the loose ends with this group.
Promises of Virtue is the second book in the Earthbound Angels series by Randi Perrin. We first met Cheryl in Virtue of Death and the story of Sera and Destin. These books are definitely not your typical romance, they are heavenly, sweet romantic stories with a twist of paranormal. I really enjoy Randi’s writing style and her stories are the perfect blend to this genre.
This book is about one sexy, sassy and caring woman, Cheryl, who after giving up her wings for her best friend and love is at a bit of a loss and unsure of herself after this major change in her life. We find Cheryl in Paris who is immersing herself in the sights, fine art and great food. Cheryl doesn’t do relationships but when she meets her sexy neighbour sparks fly. A holiday fling? Maybe. No strings attached? Possibly. Cheryl is certainly surprised when she puts it all together and suddenly realises just who and what her neighbour is. When their worlds collide Cheryl is left wondering what could have been.
Can Cheryl escape his past? Are they worth fighting for? Will her realise what is important before it is too late? Will he be able to keep away? Will past destroy them all?
As with the first book Randi has written a beautiful and funny story. Cheryl is one quirky, and did I mention sassy and yet sweet character. This story is full of love and beautiful friendships and wonder . As with the first book we learn that true love is worth any sacrifice and love is tested when evil throws a curve ball their way. I enjoyed the characters, the plot and the sense of humour. This is one book not to be missed. I hope there is a third book so that I can see what happens to these wonderful and delightful characters.
Promises of Virtue follows Virtue of Death in the Earthbound Angels Series (Book 2). I'm so glad the author decided to give Cheryl her own story as she was such a prominent character in the previous story. Cheryl never saw love in her future. She didn't really believe in love until she lost her wings to save her best friend Sera's love, Destin. While she never regretted it she couldn't understand it. Love was never in the cards for her. Now that Cheryl is a fallen angel, it's Time for her to live her life and enjoy the one thing she truly loves and that's art.
Cheryl travels to France on a journey to rediscover herself and her true passion. What she didn't count on was making a connection with not only one guy but two!!! Adam is an American traveling to France and Luc is a French artist that also happens to be an Earthbound angel. Lucky for Luc Cheryl is able to recognize all of the signs therefore making the awkwardness of him having to divulge this information about himself nonexistent.
Cheryl feels a connection to both men but only one will capture her heart in a way she's never experienced before. Will it be Adam, the witty American that professes his feelings to her early on. Or will it be Luc, mr. no strings attached himself?
In Promises of Virture, The reader is taken along for the journey with Cheryl through France as she battles foreign feelings inside her mind and heart. I loved the exquisite details and the French integration of conversations throughout the story. These allowed me as the reader the opportunity to create amazing mental images as I read from beginning to end.
Promises of Virtue (Earthbound Angels Book 2) Randi Perrin – 4 Stars I would suggest reading Virtue of Death – Earthbound Angels Book 1 first. It’s worth reading the first book to understand the background for book 2. This is the story of Cheryl Brigham’s grand adventure after a life changing event. She finally gets to go to go to Paris to explore the history and museums and art that she’s always dreamed of. Little did she know she would also find things she never dreamed of, I mean, doesn’t everyone dream of a love triangle while visiting Paris? Cheryl and Luc have such an interesting dynamic. I was drawn to this story from the very first paragraph. This was a slightly “darker”, sexier, more urgent tone than book 1. It has different undertones that doesn’t make it feel like a rehash of book 1. This is a story about following dreams and trusting instincts and believing in the goodness over everything else. Side note: When reading Luc’s dialog, I sometimes found myself doing it in a really really bad French accent. Egads. We also get to see what Destin and Sera are up to and how their relationship is developing. I was glad to be able to revisit them a bit. I’m very grateful that Destin understands that Cheryl will ALWAYS be a part of their life. Randi Perrin takes on a tour of art museums and Parisian landmarks and history. It was almost like “Frommer’s Guide To Fabulous Things”. I’ve been to Paris and certainly didn’t see it with the same eye as Cheryl does in the story. (Kind of bummed about that also).
This is the second book of the Earthbound Angels Series – Promises of Virtue. The second book takes place right after the first one does, just a few weeks later. Cheryl is taking her trip to France, to see all the museums and immerse herself back into Art History. She literally collides with someone on the plane to France. This guy is handsome and helps her translate when she gets to France and to where she needs to go. She is totally attracted to this handsome goodSamaritan. He is going to France for a funeral and to see to taking parental rights of his daughter. Cheryl's neighbour turns out to be another Earthbound Angel named Luc - who is a painter and unknown to her - very well known in the art world. Usually a recluse but has no problems with setting his sights on the gorgeous girl that is going to be living in the apartment below his. The twists and turns in this book are many. The guy she met on the plane is/was a friend of Luc's who had an affair with Luc's now dead ex-fiancée. The ex-fiancée was someone who he couldn't save and she hated him for it till her dying breath. Cheryl starts have strange headaches, and visions after meeting these two guys. She is being attacked by some unknown force. What can be done? Can Luc help this fallen angel and save her in time? What will he sacrifice to help her? I give this book 4 stars. Well written and continued to engage the reader. Didn't leave us wondering what happened to Sera and Destin either, as they are also well immersed in this book. I say pick this one up and enjoy!
Promises of Virtue, book 2 in the Eastbound Angels series, is a novel by Randi Perrin. This is Cheryl's story of finding herself after losing what she knew as her identity. Cheryl is a wonderful character with a heart of gold and a wonderful lookout on the world. When on the trip of a lifetime, she meets not one guy, but two. All she wanted was to see all the art her destination had to offer, but sometimes life gives us more than we bargained for! When life handed him rotten apples, he did the best he could with what he had. In this case his solution is to keep out of the way of relationships to make sure nothing can ever happen again. I am going to be truthful honest here, I do not read paranormal usually. They never have been a preference for me, and usual end up not finished. But this book let me tell you this book kept me hooked on the line from start to finish. I did not feel like this story was so out of the realm of possibility that it was hard to imagine and I actually really enjoyed the story line and plot of what this story had to offer. The writing flowed smoothly and was nicely written out. The emotions came out like you would expect and made you feel what the writer wanted you to feel. I highly recommend this book as someone that took a chance on a book in a genre I normally do not enjoy and this book totally rose the occasion. Nothing makes me happier than when I take a chance with a new kind of book and come out totally in love. Trust me when I say even if you normally do not like these books you will come to love this one!
Promises of Virtue by Randi Perrin receives 4 stars from me! Promises of Virtue is the second book in the Earthbound Angels series. If you have not read the first book Virtue of Death please do so. It will provide insight for key issues that will arise in this book as well as background information. This book features your favorites from book one: Cheryl Brigham, Sera Moore, and Destin Waters. This book focuses more on Cheryl than the other two characters. Cheryl embarks on a vacation to Paris, France by herself. Being a huge art fan she cannot wait to see the Louvre and other rat museums. Cheryl has never been like her best friend Sera, love and relationships were not something she was looking for. Ever. However when she lands in Paris she has not one but two men vying for her attention and affections! Adam being the first who was enamored with her from the plane ride. Luc being the second who noticed her following him on a run and again in the Louvre. First dates with both men lead to second dates. But become no strings attached with just Luc. All of this is a bit much for Cheryl when all she came to France was for the art and good food. The drama between the two men who happen to know each other pushes Cheryl's limits. The more she becomes tangled up in Luc the more “no strings attached” becomes hard to follow. Can Cheryl just walk away and go back to Chicago? Or will Paris have more than just a little piece of her heart?
Angelic romance full of emotions and love. After Sera and Destin finally found their happy ending, Cheryl, now a fallen angel without her wings and duties, is free to go for a trip to France, admire the art and enjoy the holiday. On the flight to her destination, she meets Adam, cute American man who shows interest for her and offers her help with overcoming the language barrier in a foreign country. Shortly after, during a morning run, another attractive man catches Cheryl's attention - Luc, a painter residing directly above her in the apartment house she lives in now. Cheryl, who claims she doesn't do romance, is now torn between two men competing for her heart - and with common past. She makes a decision, but where will it take her... I truly enjoyed the story. It soothed my aching heart, and although only a heroine in a book, I was happy for Cheryl that she found her love and her whole world changed. She is inspiring, crazy, and totally adorable. Luc is truly her perfect match, seeing the world through her eyes, admiring the colors and art and understanding her more than the others. He is cute, passionate, and sometimes carefree, an example of a man of my liking. Their relationship develops naturally and the romance promises heat rising to the reader's face...or anywhere else. I truly enjoyed the book, and I thank the HTP for gifting me a copy. I wrote this review voluntarily and all opinions are my own.
>I am an independent reviewer. This book is the second in the Earthbound Angels series and ends in an HEA. This story revolves around Cheryl, the BFF of Sera, from book one. Cheryl takes a bucket list trip to Paris, while Sera and Destin stay home to enjoy the HEA. Once in Paris, Cheryl meets two men with a tie to one another. She is attracted to both, but secrets come out and only one man will win her heart.
>There is a ton of art imagery, as Cheryl tours Monet’s home and the Louvre. The angel, Luc, falls for Cheryl as he also goes about his angel business. His adventures saving people could have been so much more exciting than what was presented. I realize that the main story is the romance, but the adventure had so much potential, if only it wasn’t presented as filler between romantic scenes.
>Luc is warned away from Cheryl by his angel boss. The reasoning behind the warning is not really explained. Adam falls for Cheryl and seems to go from gentlemanly to overpowering in his idea of the relationship with Cheryl. This would have been a great stepping stone to having Adam become a bit of a danger to Cheryl, but nothing like that ever occurs.
>I did like the interactions with Sera, Destin, Cheryl and Luc. Their interactions show how close these two couples are going to be. This book is appropriate for an adult audience. I am giving the story 4 stars. The story makes for a wonderful travelogue for Paris.
Promises of Virtue is Cheryl's book. It's all about what a former angel does with her life. After falling from grace she decides to go France to visit as many art museums as she can. Its always been a dream of hers. She doesn't expect to meet a handsome man on the plane over there. Or meet a second man who is even more handsome than Adam. But there she is. With two men who are into her. The problem is apparently they hate each other. She has to find out why. Luc is an earthbound angel just like Cheryl had been. He even has the same job. To perform miracles and save lives. On a particularly hard day there is an explosion and he must choose between a group of kids or his ex fiancé. Though he made the right choice his decision will haunt him. He has a pleasant distraction when a crazy American woman rents the apartment below him. He pursues a friendship with her even though his angel boss has told him to leave her alone. Cheryl is torn between the two men. She like Adam. He's funny and has an adorable little girl. But there's something about him that just strikes her as wrong. Luc is almost the total package. He's hot, he knows his art, and he's intelligently funny. The only problem with him is he's an angel. I loved this book. The tension between the men and how the author brought it all out was awesome. I can't wait to find out if there will be a second book.
The second book of the Earthbound Angels series is Promises of Virtue, written by Randi Perrin. I do highly recommend reading the first book in the series, Virtue of Death, as it will provide important back story and Cheryl Brigham is introduced in this book. Paranormal romances are not typically my personal cup of tea... however, this is a series that I am thoroughly enjoying. This series has been done in a way as to not be overly paranormal in comparison to some books out there, but more true to the angel theme of the story and it was done well!
Promises of Virtue is Cheryl's story, who was an earthbound angel since the age of eighteen, until years later when everything changes. This story picks up where Virtue of Death stopped, we continue to glimmer of the main characters from the previous story, but Promises of Virtue is focused on Cheryl and her trip to Paris. Never did she anticipate what she would find there besides her love of art. Cheryl is a feisty and outspoken individual; I fell in love with her spunk in the first story and loved to see it continue. We do see her grow in this story and how she grows truly fits the character. It does not feel forced, but flows well.
Randi Perrin's writing style continued to be amazing in this story to include the suspenseful elements added. I loved the dialogues between friends and others. This is a truly engaging story/series and should be a must read on your list.
Promises Of Virtue by Randi Perrin is the second book in the Earthbound Angel series.
This book, whilst still features Sera and Destin, focuses more on Cheryl and her life now she has lost her wings. She decides to go to Paris and there she finds the romance that she had long before decided was not for her and a lot more along with it. Luc is an earthbound Angel of virtue as Cheryl once was and Adam is human. Both are interested in her and both are linked together by a past that is fitting to cause trouble for the future.
I really enjoyed this book. I loved the story and characters and was pleased that we got to learn more of Cheryl, especially after her sacrifice at the end of book one. The twist to the story was great and one I did not see coming.
As with the first book, the descriptive of the setting is beautifully done and I was able to bring images to mind very easily. It has love, danger, humour and sadness that is all very palpable throughout the book. The characters are likeable and lovable and you feel what they feel thanks to brilliant writing and narrative. It is written in both Cheryl and Luc’s point of view to get a great handle on what they are thinking and feeling.
I became truly engrossed in this story and am waiting very patiently for the third. Randi Perrin is definitely on my list of authors to recommend and grab whatever she puts out next.
Randi Perrin’s Promises of Virtue is a beautifully written love story. Luc and Cheryl are two characters who we find ourselves deeply invested in. Cheryl’s story is a continuation from the first book in The Earthbound Angels Series, Virtue of Death. Cheryl is lost and broken. Not sure of who she is, or where she fits in. She travels to Paris to immerse herself in the city of lights, love and art. All of the glorious Art. While in Paris, Cheryl meets Luc, who isn’t at all what he seems. Luc was granted and extraordinary gift at the tender age of 18 and has spent the last few years flirting with the boundaries of the rules set by the Almighty. His past is troubled, like many others like him, and when he meets Cheryl, he doesn’t realize just how alike they truly are. Ms. Perrin grabs her readers with her beautiful description of the Paris art world scene. There are accurate descriptions and proper use of terms, words, and translations in the French language. This story gets a 3 out of 5 stars from me. This is an 18+ book and for mature audience for language, violence and sexual scenes. While it is in limited means, there are also BDSM scenes. This book is number 2 in a series of 3. It can be read as a stand-a-lone, however, I would recommend reading them in order as to add depth to Cheryl and the significance of her decision and the life changing impact that occurs to both her and Luc.
Promises of Virtue is the number two in a new break out series Earthbound Angel's by Randi Perrin . This is a paranormal romance series with a new take on angel's that are chosen and continue their lives on earth while secretly being angel's . Each Earthbound Angel's has their own talent and this tale focuses on Cheryl a young sparky goth woman by day . Who seems to distance herself from all but her closest friends but really has a generous caring side few are given the chance to witness . No one seems to have a clue of the secret she's Finally an author has thought outside the box with this series. Not only are the stories about female angels saving the day but things in their lives are not all holy and perfect. They have normal human issues too yet are more focused on what they were chosen to do. Way to go Ms Perrin . It's about time someone gave us heroes that are relatable and down to earth. Pun intended. Way to go Perrin as a woman you wrote these strong sexy woman saviors so well and just different enough that I was addicted from the first page forward . I'm so looking forward to more from this wonderful series . My advice to all paranormal romance lovers is to do yourself a favor and pick up this book . It will be better if you have read Virtue of death but is not completely necessary. Although you make sure to clear plenty of time to enjoy reading it once because once you start it's almost impossible to put down.
