Do not let the 3 stars fool you. On the Goodreads scale that means I liked it, and I did.
I picked this book up at a second hand bookstore. When I brought it home and thumbed through it I realized this was a big plug for annuities. I nearly decided not read the book as I have had it drummed into me that annuities are bad choices 'for most people'. However, I decided I should consider another opinions and pressed on.
Although I need to think about it further, the author makes some compelling arguments for annuities, as well as long-term care insurance, and whole life insurance. It has definitely given me something to think about, and that's the whole point of listening to alternative thoughts.
If you are like me, I would encourage you to give this one a try and let your ideas be challenged a little!
Having seen Tom present on several occasions you can feel him while reading this book. There is energy and excitement in helping clients understand the risks and solutions.
This book stresses that the key to happiness in retirement is the peace of mind that comes with guaranteed lifetime income. It covers then means to get that income: pensions, social security and annuities. Some of the social security information is getting dated as laws change, but overall the information in the book is useful for practically everyone planning for retirement .
