Isabella was a cold fish.

It was her way or no way. She didn't understand the meaning of compromise.
She had mommy issues and just pissed me off. For someone so smart and competitive she was an idiot.

The epilogue was blah...

Wasn't feeling it.

Afraid This One Didn't Appeal

I didn't warm to Isabella in the slightest. James wasn't portrayed as super compelling, either. Cold to the characters, the plot dragged into a lot of telling. The intimate scenes felt clinical and cursory.

My first a Stephanie Brother Book. I enjoyed it. Great plot and love the characters. Isabella is a string independent woman who's mom has been married so many times she's lost count and has turned her off of relationships and marriage. When she kisses James on a adrenalin rush after a surgery she never thought things would get so serious between them. When faced some news that he's her new stepbrother things get bumpy.
5 Star Read. Will be reading more from this v author. .

Sex scenes were really fast and unsatisfying. The plot was kind of slow too.

Im going with a 3.7 and rounding up to 4, I really enjoyed this story and it kept my attention. Isabella is set on becoming a doctor and has always been at the top of her class. When she starts to intern at the hospital she becomes very close with James rather quickly, she's not one to have a social life and has always been focused on her studies. It's a quick read but it's a good one, we get a little bit of a twist thrown it which I was getting the vibes of earlier on. This is a sexy and sweet book with an ending that will leave you satisfied on the events. This is my unbiased and voluntary review.

This was such a yummy stepbrother storyline. It isn’t one where the MC are teenagers but they are adults. Isabella is just starting her internship at her new job- at the hospital when she meets this sexy man who happens to be her new boss named James. Isabella wants to avoid scenes so she tries to avoid James but that is pretty hard to do and James is a really nice guy who finds himself very attracted to the newest member on staff with the hospital.
The scenes between James and Isabella were soo hot and full of sexual tension. I couldn’t help but reading faster because the plot was good and the chemistry was thru the roof. The twist on how their parents ended up together was good and the angst did play out did make sense. The ending was sweet. I loved the medical plot and cant to read what this author has next coming out. You will never go wrong with hot, sexy doctors, sweet and sassy new doctors and the intense chemistry that is played out in the hospital.

My rating: 4.5 stars ****

Okay sooo this book had ZERO plot whatsoever. I give it 1.5 stars! It read like A happened and then B happened and then C happened. There was very little details about the two main characters themselves, or their lives, or what their thought/feelings were. And there was very little mentioned when talking about major events. It's like BOOM that just happened, now they did this, and then boom again. In fact, the book just straight out said she's in love with him, but you didn't get to see her thought or feelings whilst falling in love. The only thing the author focused on was Isabella's mommy issues. It was annoying because the reader was not given significant details about the mother and how she impacted Isabella's life. All you were told was that Isabella fought commitment and marriage and relationships because of her mother's numerous marriages. It took everything in me to finish this book. The only reason I did was because I spent $4 on it! I never review books but this one annoyed me so much I felt it was necessary!

Fascinating, a twist on a romance genre novel. Medical superstar academic, a surgical intern, falls head-over-heads in lust (and love?) with the attending surgeon at her new hospital. Later, they learn that (surprise, title) they are step-siblings! What happens next?

Some of the plot turns seemed more improbable than not, but more or less enjoyable. I'd be willing to even read the others in the series!

They both have medical careers that are important to them. She wants to be a success in her new job and her attraction to the successful doctor at the hospital concerns her. He is supposed to be focused on helping her be a success at work. The desire for her is an added complication. When they find out that their parents are together, it adds even more stress.

It is a well written story and feels more realistic than many romances. The forbidden romance is a popular theme and they have two issues against them- work and personal. They have good chemistry from the beginning and it makes you interesting in seeing how they will resolve their issues.

I received a copy in return for a honest review.

I received an ARC for an honest review.
Isabella is just starting her internship at the hospital, when she meets James. These two blow up the hospital with their hot sex scenes. Isabella is very competitive and career orientated, and I must say it was a little difficult to actually like her. James is a sweet and caring guy, but can these two have a HEA?
This is an enjoyable read, and I look forward to reading more of this authors work in the future.

This is not your normal stepbrother romance I know what I expected but it sure wasn’t what I got. I really love this narrator and wanted to give this a listen. What I expect was some very dirty story line about hooking up and not much else. This was a refreshing story line after the fact, they hooked up before they found out they were related which really adds to the story. There are some very hot and heavy sex scenes which adds heat to the read but it isn’t done in a dirty way that makes it more porn..it is wrote in a way that really blends well with the story of two people who are attracted to each other with a strong pull and them working out how they feel and what they want in a career that can be trying for a relationship. It has a great plot, wonderful sex scenes that really have meaning pulling the reader in with some very hard trying times and issues.

Ms. Kelly’s narration is outstanding she really pulls you in with her tones and voices with real emotions. There are no repeats of words, no place where the volume is higher or lower than any other place in the audio. The character voices are good, tones are great, and you have no trouble knowing who is talking or what they are feeling. The male voices are just as good as the female ones. Ms. Kelly’s performance is great with a very pleasant voice. There was no background noise or any echo’s all you get is a rich even tone audio that delivers a wonderful listen. She really hooks me from the start to finish.

What I really liked about this was it was not your normal stepbrother story. The sexy was hot but not over baring. Isabella was an ok character but I thought at times a little whinny. I thought with the way the story was written she made too much of a big deal over the stepbrother issues. I loved James and the supporting characters I thought they brought a lot to the story. I thought the ending was rushed and left out some things that would have made it more interesting. It kind of left me hanging did they work or not, I know they are for now but what about years down the road. All in all it was a good read that I honestly enjoyed.

What to say about this book? Its really, really bad.

Isabella meets James her first day as a resident in general surgery (he's the attending assigned to watch over the residents). The first thing that was problematic for me is that the story is all third person. It is wall after wall of text telling what happens to the characters punctuated by very little dialogue. There's no really experiencing the story through the characters. The sex scenes are awkward and glossed over.

I didn't find the characters to be likable. I was pretty much done with James when he tried to get Isabella to have sex with him in an operating room where a patient just died (and the patient is still on the table.) Yuck.

Then the taboo story line was James and Isabella finding out their parents are married about half way through the book. So, who cares? They are in their late 20's/early 30's and barely have a relationship with their families. But there is all this unnecessary angst about them being "siblings" and having sex.

3 Stepbrother Work-Place Romance Stars

Forbidden Prescription is the first book in the Forbidden Medicine series by Stephanie Brother.

Isabella has always a had a plan. She’s relied on herself and her own independence to get through Med school, and her mothers marathon of new husbands. Never wanting to put much credit behind her own love life and future family, she’s focused solely on getting ahead in her career and only spending time with the opposite sex when she had an itch to scratch.

James, her new attending, walks in on the first day of her new internship and leaves her tongue-tied, interrupting her iron focus. Their undeniable attraction draws them into a friends with benefits type of relationship. When their relationship is finally strong and solid, leaving them both surprisingly happier than ever, Isabella’s mother comes to visit with her new husband and boy are they in for a surprise!

This story travels the rough terrain of family expectations, work-place dalliances, and discovering what ones own heart truly desires!

Another awesome book

Stephanie never ceases to amaze me. I can get enough of her Stepbrother romances ! She knows how to paint a scene with her words . In every book I can see it as if it's taking place in front of me or to me if that makes any sense? Once more I'm taken on the ride of a lifetime . The love between James and Isabella is off the charts ! Watching her struggling with wither to admit her feelings makes my heart ache . How could anyone not love James and seeing how much he loved Isabella from the beginning was awesome. You can't help but cheer him on lol . Ok not gonna give anymore hints hehe but please read this one it makes you feel anything is possible in love .

Just....meh

The store line had promise but it was overall too rushed.
The characters, their attraction and romance, were ridiculously rushed. I didn’t feel a connection with the characters at all. The attention to minuscule details, building the reader up and making them feel like they were apart of the story was lacking.
Numerous times I thought about closing the book but I kept thinking surely it’s better and the details become more thorough. But sadly before I knew it I was 97% done with the book and still felt “meh.”
The potential with the story is there, the execution of the book is sorely lacking.

Meh

I've read a lot by this authoress and enjoyed her other works, which is what led me to this series but this is a bit substandard.
It's not awful, just not amazing.
I feel like I've read a plot draft with the main dialogue included but the story hasn't been fleshed out so that it feels full.
The part that disappointed me most is that the ending was abrupt. To me, I got the impression that the writer was bored and done with the story, so it all got wrapped up in a short little chapter that had had no lead up so it felt misplaced; but even that was unsatisfactory. This story doesn't feel finished there's no sense of closure.

Need a little more

Isabella Carter has worked all her life to achieve her new intern surgeon position. She has always studied harder then anyone in her class and now she’s a new intern ready to stay focused, until she meets the doctor who will be leading her new career. James Johnson is a hot doctor and the moment he meets Isabella, the sparks fly.
James is too tempting and the more they know about each other, the closer their bond.
I loved the rollercoaster ride of emotions and would have given 5 stars but felt the ending needed a bit more work. Still a hot story

Step Brothers aren't blood

This book I cannot say was very well written there were grammatical errors not to me spelling errors. And it's not man dominated it's male-dominated this comes from someone who currently works in a male-dominated field.

As for the subject matter I enjoyed the gist of the story the storyline was good. It did keep me reading despite the errors mentioned above. I really like that the sex seems did not use a lot of excessive words. This left something to the imagination which is the point of reading. I would read another book from this author.

Isabella, medical intern, and James, her current attending physician, further complicate their close working relationship when they become aware of their undeniable attraction for each. She doesn't want the complications a relationship with James would cause in her life. This story is filled with Isabella's doubts and denials concerning a life with James. When she and James are thrown into an even more preposterous position, their chances for a future seem to shatter. Read this entertaining book and discover the conclusion to their messed up reality!!!!

This story was pretty good for a quick read. Narrator is great too.
James is Isabella's mentor at the hospital where she works. Being in a relationship is frowned upon but the attention is undeniable. Their encounters are hot, passionate, funny and heart melting. Then it all came crashing down when they find out they are step siblings. They tried stay away from each other, but the pain of them separating was too much for them to handle. How will they move forward? Get you copy to fine out. You will not be disappointed

Unexpectedly Great

I went into this book with low expectations because it was Free, but I was pleasantly surprised at how great it was. I normally enjoy more erotic stories but I loved how the sex was hot but not vulgar. The characters had depth and there was plenty of romance as well as some comedic relief. I am beyond grateful that I gave this book a read and can not wait to delve into more of this Authors books.

An enjoyable read!

Isabella and James have chemistry and are good together. Both are focused on their careers, and Isabella particularly is extremely independent and doesn’t want to sacrifice her career for a family. Some angst, ups and downs, surprises, and steamy heat kept this story moving at a good place. The HEA happened somewhat abruptly before “the end”, but overall a good read.

Great stories

Stephanie Brother has out done herself with her stories about step siblings. I enjoy reading and review these stories and let friends who also enjoy them about the ones worth reading.

For those that may have not read one they are not blood related, but related by marriage only.

When the writer knows what they are talking about, an honest review is simple. The writing pulls at your heart...makes you want to fight for love, and will make you not want to put the book down!!! I cant get enough of the characters. The emotion that you can feel through each page. Love that makes your heart want to...re-read...over & over. This is an easy enjoyable read !
