I won this book on Goodreads.
As a beginner runner this book went into to much detail and scared me off from endurance running. I don't have that kind of time, or patience. Maybe if I had been running for a while and was thinking about doing a marathon of some sort this might have been the book for me as a beginner in that area. I was looking for something to motivate me to get out and run each day, and how to go about running during the winter in states like MN where its gets extremely cold. Also if not running than something besides finding a gym that has a walking or running path. We don't have one in the same town I live in and I don't have that kind of money to drive 30 to 45 minutes just to pay a ridiculous fee for a gym I may lose interest in.
I don't need the "law of Attraction" head stuff to try to motivate me. I need some honest how to information that is not overwhelming.
Very disappointed and glad I did not buy this book.

I had hoped for more "mental endurance training", not "how to get out of bed in the morning and go for a run" tips. I'm disciplined enough to handle that part myself. I was looking for something that would help you with mental conditioning during a race, mental toughening, and keeping a positive mental attitude while racing. This was not that.

Also went into hooey about the "Law of Attraction" (you know, like, "The Secret"?), so this book was definitely not something that helps you "toughen up" during a race, which was what I had expected.

If you have trouble motivating yourself to run, or are very, very new to running distance races, maybe this is a good book to read. But if you're an experienced runner looking to improve your mental toughness and mental conditioning, pass on this one.
