*** A DELIGHTFUL cozy mystery ***

The Body in the Snow by Christoph Fischer is a delightful read. That's not something you would normally say about a murder mystery, but it was DELIGHTFUL -- and humorous to boot!

Seriously though ... Just when the main character of Bebe Bollinger is offered a second chance at fame, disaster strikes. A murder happens in her backyard.

Can you read the tabloid headlines now?

You won't want to miss how a dead body affects Bebe's quest for renewed stardom. An excellent

LIGHT, EASY READ WHICH IS FUN
I was gifted this book for an honest review. The idea of using an aging rock star was a nice twist, although her obsession with her hoped for come back often played a larger part of the book than the solving of the murder. None of the characters were particularly loveable, except for the next door neighbour Dora, I quite warmed to her, and I did enjoy the machinations of Christine, there really are people like that. A light, easy read and although I was fairly quite

***** A Very Fun Read!

To me, one of the most important elements of a cozy murder mystery is the setting. Here, in Christoph Fischer’s newest endeavor, “The Body In The Snow,” in my opinion, he nails it. A small country lane in Wales, snowbound and without electricity is the PERFECT venue—the characters, unable to go anywhere else, are forced to deal with each other...as well as a sudden murder.

With the very funny, appealing, main characters, Bebe, an ex-musical celebrity, aching for a comeback,

Great opening to this terrific mystery describing a murder in sharp, gripping detail. We are then introduced to a host of characters living in the hamlet of Llangurrey, Wales, currently snowed under by massive snowfalls, including retired singer and celebrity Bebe Bollinger, now engaged in reviving her career; Dora, a divorcee, her next-door neighbour; Ian, the handyman, and his wife Christine; then an irate Ellie, looking for the woman her husband is cheating her with; which brings us to ...more

This was quite a departure from historical fiction for Christoph Fischer, but it was, nonetheless, a happy and satisfying transition for me. I loved the premise of the story, the way the plot unfolded smoothly and with Mr Fischer's usual engaging style.

The well written story, a cosy mystery, left me feeling highly satisfied with that fussy feeling. The picture of snow, a body, an aging star, and an array of neighbours lining up for "a who done it?" was one of the reasons I read this over the

The Body in the Snow is a fantastic suspenseful murder mystery. Bebe used to be quite the entertainer, however as time goes on her fame starts to fade. However she is bound and determined to regain her fame at any cost. When a murder happens in her neighborhood and her daughter is a suspect the story really takes off. I was on the edge of my seat in this murder mystery trying to figure out "who done it." Let's just say the author did a fantastic job keeping me guessing. This book is fast paced ...more

I have read books by Christoph Fischer but this was something in a new genre for him. It was an enjoyable romp with outrageous characters, humorous situations, and murder in the middle of all this. The story moves along at a nice pace keeping the reader wondering who did what.

Bebe Bollinger is a aging songstress who is trying to get her career back on track but during her tryouts for roles and arguments with her useless agent she is thrust into a murder mystery - the body being found right in

Figuring out the puzzle in a mystery is always a lot of fun and has the added perk of exercising the brain.
The Body in the Snow is a modern version of a classic Agatha Christie plotline. Set in Llangurrey, a remote hamlet tucked miles away from the nearest town experiencing the worst snowstorm in twenty years. All roads and motorways have been closed.
I was immediately drawn into this cozy whodunit and the domestic dynamics among the characters.
The author begins by introducing the characters, a

Fun Cozy Mystery

Bebe originally landed in a remote area of Wales because she was on the run. She wanted to hide from the press and obnoxious paparazzi obsessed with her lagging singing career and the scandal associated with her divorce.

She’s ready to stage a comeback. Approaching sixty years old, she knows it’s now or never.

Her comeback is threatened on all sides. Her agent may be steering her in the wrong direction. Her neighbor Dora is a decade younger and stunningly beautiful…an forgivable

I have to admit that I'd never actually read a who-done-it, but having read most of Christoph Fischer's earlier books, I just had to take the plunge. And though I've nothing in the genre to compare it with, I was not disappointed. I especially like the setting; the description of the Welsh countryside--where the author now resides--made me feel I a was there. As a permanently transplanted Floridian, I haven't seen (nor wanted to see) snow in 15 years, but Fischer's depiction brought me back to ...more

This murder mystery takes place in Wales. It evolves around a small hamlet with three houses.
One house holds a former music star. The next house has a busy husband and wife. The third home houses a divorcee, glamorous.

During a historic snowfall, to everyone's shock, a woman is found under the snow in front of the couple's home, dead. Dead from a shovel trauma.

We get to know these members of the community, and also the police assigned to the case.

I would call this cozy a mixture of police

Oh this was good! I'm still smiling from the way the cast of characters and plot line interwove with scenes that lit up from the page. Being that I'm a fan of The X Factor, I was hooked from the opening pages when the very clever Fischer mentioned that one of the main characters, Bebe Bollinger was being considered as a host for the show. That sets up this character beautifully for she is a singer, a faded singer, who is hoping for a comeback and this story line very smartly does all it can to ...more

This is a well-written cozy mystery with a cast of interesting characters. They soon find themselves caught up in a murder mystery set in a small Welsh hamlet where you would never imagine that such a thing could happen. I enjoyed meeting each of the characters--even the irritating ones! Bebe Bolinger, a singer struggling to make a comeback, is a particularly engaging character. She's a talented, self-absorbed diva that I found myself rooting for as she tries to restart her career. Interactions ...more

A very enjoyable book. With a fantastic cast of characters plus humour, murder, romance this is a cracking mystery.

Living in the same Welsh hamlet we have Bebe, a retired singer trying to make a comeback, Ian, everyone's helpful handyman, his snooty nosed wife Christine plus Dora, a divorcee. Barely tolerating each other in normal times, when the hamlet becomes snowbound tension begins to rise, more so when a body is found!

Then we have the troubled detective Beth on the scene to add to the mix.

This was such a funny read. I found myself time after time laughing out loud. The characters simply pop!
The pop culture adds so much to setting up the scenes and bringing the reader right into this world.

Bebe is one of the most egocentric characters I have come across in a long time. I kept waiting for this character trait to start to annoy me. No such luck. It endeared her to me instead of alienating me. The reference to one of my all time favourite show - Absolutely Fabulous - had me in

I’ve received an ARC from the author in exchange for an honest review:
Did I like it?:
A cosy mystery, interesting yet slightly strange characters. Nice surrounding (Wales), a snow storm. A surprising yet believable finish. What’s not to like?
What I didn’t like
A bit too much name calling from Bebe. And not enough Dora! But that’s just my taste.
Would I recommend it?
Sure! Cozy mystery like it should be. It’s not a beach read. The perfect surrounding for me would be: In font of the fire place,

This is the first book I've read by Christoph Fischer. I was impressed by his ability to weave more than 20 characters into this novel. He did a great job with character development. I liked the way the author kept me wondering whose body was going to turn up buried in the snow. Once that was revealed, he took me down numerous trails in search of the killer. Well done! I'll read more of Mr. Fischer's books!

This is the first book I have read by Christoph Fischer but it won't be my last. Set in a cozy neighborhood the unusual neighbors are lukewarm to one another. They keep their space until a snowstorm that changes all of their lives. Secrets come out and the characters have to rely on one another to stay safe. I gave it four because of some of the mannerisms that I think were possibly English and I am not used to some of the wording. Excellent read.

A fellow blogger and excellent writer, Christoph Fischer, just ventured into my domain with his cozy mystery, The Body in the Snow. So of course I had to read the book!
The book has three distinct parts: the first is the crime, brief but graphically suggested.
The second is really what I’d call a chick lit piece because it describes the residents in three country cottages in Llangurrey in Wales, an idyllic but remote setting. It begins eight days before the crime and the reader is first introduced

The Body In The Snow: A Bebe Bollinger Murder Mystery

I've read few cozy mysteries so I won't address if or how well "The Body In The Snow" fits that category.

And due to personal time constraints, the time it took me to read the book reflects only on my circumstances, not the book.

I will say I always looked forward to reading the next snippet of story I sneaked in at bed before no longer pretending I could still see the print well enough to read (smiles). The leisurely style of the story plus the

Christoph Fischer was born in Germany, near the Austrian border, as the son of a Sudeten-German father and a Bavarian mother. Not a full local in the eyes and ears of his peers he developed an ambiguous sense of belonging and home in Bavaria. He moved to Hamburg in pursuit of his studies and to lead a life of literary indulgence. After a few years he moved on to the UK where he now lives in a ...more
