I liked this one. No real conflict between the hero and heroine. The angst and stress comes from her relationship with her family... dad’s takes control freak to a sad level.

Definitely things to like and dislike about this book. The h comes out of it slightly better than the H IMO.
The book starts with the H and h bickering at the office which is a common occurrence for them. The H has had a run in with one of his lady friends and needs a date for his sisters wedding. The h will fit the bill nicely and needs to go to Switzerland to be his pretend girlfriend for the weekend. The h reluctantly agrees but she’s not impressed by him and can’t see what the big attraction is.
She’s less impressed when they get to Switzerland and finds they are sharing his room- that wasn’t part of the plan and she makes him sleep on the sofa.
The H is the way he is because his parents have many marriages between them and step-mummy dearest wants to jump his bones as well causing friction with his dad and hence the need for girlfriend protection.
Turns out the sister is marrying the h’s estranged brother. She’s been disowned by her asshat of a father over an affair she had at 18 that left her pregnant and alone. He was a gold digger who left her high and dry when she was disowned and she was desperate for love as she didn’t get any at home.
The H overhears a conversation about this between her and her evil father and he hears that her baby died as well.
A pretend kiss between the 2 for the benefit of the step mum wakes an attraction neither expects so they embark on an affair that neither expects to last.
Several weeks later both are incredibly happy with each other but neither identify it as love despite having it pointed out to them. This is where the H loses a star for me he lies to the H and takes himself off to New York on the pretext of business for his grandfather and gets caught in the lie when grandad calls to find out where he is. He in fact went there to bar crawl in his old haunts to see if any other ladies took his fancy and when he isn’t attracted he comes to the conclusion he is in love with the h.
She’s pretty furious at being lied to and when hr pushes her on the phone as to why she blurts out she loves him.
Some side angst with the other sister also escaping evil daddy’s clutches and the H rushes in to declare his love and plans for marriage and babies.
It was all going pretty well till he decided to try his pulling other birds theory.

Ginny and Rourke work together - technically I guess he's her boss, but they're pretty much on equal footing and it's explicitly stated that Rourke can't fire Ginny, so there isn't a lot of power imbalance and Ginny gives as good as she gets. The two flirt and insult one another simultaneously. I actually really liked their relationship because it has an underlying snarky humor that is really fun to read. Rourke ends up convincing Ginny to accompany him to his sister's wedding to deter his father's lecherous wife from seducing him. Once they arrive though, Ginny's past comes back to confront her in the form of her father and Rourke offers her some serious friendship and support. I really enjoyed watching their friendship develop as Ginny struggles with dealing with her family. Rourke pretty much went from playboy cad to knight in shining armor - he proves himself to be a seriously decent human being. And the chemistry between them felt natural - not OTT or sudden or anything. These two characters' interactions together were the definite highlight of the story.
Unfortunately, right around the end of the story, something fell apart. Maybe it was the fact that Ginny was technically unfaithful to the boyfriend she'd been dating and expecting a proposal from. When you expect a proposal, things are pretty serious, so it's damned inconsiderate of her to sleep with another guy without first talking to him. And strangely enough, after some initial resistance to Rourke because of random thoughts of said boyfriend, he's never mentioned again. Even when they get back to London and are starting their affair, Ginny never again mentions this boyfriend. So why does the author even bother including him? He served absolutely no purpose except to slow down the sexual side of their relationship...and there could have been other things the author could have used without turning Ginny into a cheater. So I had a problem with that. On top of that, Rourke's reasons for going to New York, presumably to see if he was in love with Ginny was strange. As he described it, he went because it's filled with tons of gorgeous, hot single women and he wanted to see if he felt the urge to sleep with any of them. Upon finding that he didn't, he returned home to Ginny knowing he was in love with her. He couldn't have done this in London? It's also a tad dubious because it's not clear whether he would have actually slept with a woman if he'd found her appealing just to test his theory. Which would then make him a potential cheater. I didn't like what these actions implied about the characters I'd enjoyed reading about in the first part of the story.

Sejujurnya saya merasa judul novel ini kurang pas. Meski memang Roarke itu bos-nya Ginny, tapi dalam segala hal mereka setara. Ginny sendiri merasa dia direkrut oleh Stephen Adams, kakeknya Roarke, jadi dia tidak segan2 beradu mulut dengan Roarke. Sampai ketika Roarke memintanya menjadi kekasih pura2.
Jalan ceritanya menarik, nilai plusnya karena di dalam novel ini logika lebih sering digunakan. Roarke dan Ginny yang sering beradu pendapat sama2 jujur dengan diri dan kondisi mereka. Konfliknya juga pas, ga berlebihan. Membaca novel ini ibarat menonton film comedy romantis.
Jalan ceritanya menarik, nilai plusnya karena di dalam novel ini logika lebih sering digunakan. Roarke dan Ginny yang sering beradu pendapat sama2 jujur dengan diri dan kondisi mereka. Konfliknya juga pas, ga berlebihan. Membaca novel ini ibarat menonton film comedy romantis.

Ginny worked as Rourke Adams secretary for months and her relationship with him had always been a mixture of respect for him as a shrewd businessman and hatred for his womanizing ways. His opinion of her was no better. He thought her a cold harridan! Therefore, it was an utter shock when he asked her one day to pretend to be his lover in his sister's wedding! She accepted, albeit for reasons different than she told him! It was at that weekend that they both discover they were far from being immune to each other's charms.

This was a good story until the end. At first, they were honest with each other. Suddenly, the author didn't know how to end it. Hero went to NYC to see if he wanted the hot chicks thereby determining if he loved heroine. Stupid ending.

Konfliknya lumayan bervariasi, dari masalah keluarga baik dari pihak Ginny ataupun Roarke. Keduanya tidak melulu drooling fisik masing - masing, bahkan Ginny tidak terlalu lemah dengkul ketika bertemu atau beradu mulut dengan Roarke. Sayangnya ketika mereka mulai muncul benih - benih ketertarikan, Ginny masih mempunyai pacar walau dengan kondisi engga cinta (trus ngapain pacaran?). Lalu akhirnya Ginny dan Roarke berpacaranlah dengan kondisi untuk sex saja. Btw saya kok melewatkan bagian putusnya hubungan Daniel dan Ginny?

awalnya, gw kira Ceritanya simple... tentang sekertaris si Boss yg di suruh bantuin si Boss buat pura - pura jadi kekasihnya di Pernikahan adiknya guna menghindari si Ibu Tiri yg menggoda si Boss... hmpffth..
see?? So Simple huh?? tapi.. ternyata gaa sesimple itu... Banyak adegan menguras emosi di marii...
Heroine kita ini, Ginny Harte, Punya kehidupan masa lalu yg pahit. Dia di usir dari rumah oleh sang Ayah karna mengira dia jatuh cinta pada seseorang, dan orang itu bukan pilihan sang ayah. Memang.. dia salah tentang Hal itu, Lelaki yg dia sangka mencintainya.. kabur entah kemana setelah tau Ginny di usir dr rumahnya dan di cabut Hak wrisnya oleh Sang Ayah, dalam keadaan Hamil. Ginny terluka.. tapi Ginny mencoba bertahan... hingga suatu ketika, Ginny kehilangan Putrinya. itulah saat terburuk bai Ginny.. sendiri di dunia, tanpa seorangpun mampu menampung kepedihannya. butuh waktu bagi Ginny untuk pulih dari semua itu, tapi Ginny berhasil melakukannya.
Hingga dia bertemu dengan Roarke Adams.. Yak.. tokoh Hero kita ini mempunyai nama ROARKE.. lagi2 nama ROARKE itu adalah seorang Bllionaire!! wekekee...
Roarke minta tolong kepada Ginny, yg juga sekertarisnya, untuk berpura - pura jadi kekasihnya selama hari pernikahan adiknya di Swiss.. Padahal sebelumnya mereka tak pernah cocok satu sama lain. Tapi kali ini, Roarke memohon kepada Ginny untuk mau membantunya. dan Ginny pun menyetujuinya.

Cerita ini di awali oleh percakapan menghibur seputar pertengkaran Roarke dan Ginny.. tapi di tengah bab... saat Roarke akhirnya membawa Ginny ke Swiss.. Ginny bertemu lagi dengan Sang Diktator Penggertak yg telah mengusirnya dari rumah delapan tahun yang lalu. Di Sini.. Luka lama Ginny di ungkit kembali.. Ingatan Pahit Ginny di bangkitkan kembali... di ceritakan di sini.. Saat Ginny di usir.. Saat Ginny di tinggal sendiri oleh orang yg dia sangka Ia Cintai... dan Saat - saat dimana Ginny kehilangan anaknya...
Di rangkum dalam satu babak.. hingga membuat kita tidak berhenti untuk merasakan emosinya..
tapi kali ini.. di sela kepedihannya karna bertemu lagi dengan ayahnya.. Ginny tidak sendirian.. Kali ini ada Roarke di sampingnya.. yg telah siap meminjamkan bahunya untuk Ginny melepas kepedihan, yg tidak pernah Ginny dapatkan sebelumnya. Dengan Roarke.. Ginny mendapatkannya... ^^

Dari benci menjadi cinta.
membenci adlh cara terbaik untuk menutupi jatuh cinta.
berawal Dr rasa suka scra fisik, rasa suka seksual, dan berakhir di tempat tdr.
awalnya hanya ingin memenuhi hasrat seksual, hubungan tanpa cinta, tp ujung nya jatuh cinta jg.
terkesan klise sih, tp ada bumbu keluarga yg bikin emosi sdkt meninggi pas baca.
tp sayang, sy pikir bakal ada konfliknya tmbhn krna dgn pihak cowok lain tp sayang nya ga ada. pdhl bgs tuh klo ada.

Aside from an overly graphic miscarriage scene, I enjoyed this. I liked both of the leads. I liked that the obstacles were not personal betrayals between them. I liked how they wound up together. Nice.
