The nine-month miracle

SECOND CHANCE AT PARENTHOOD

The last time Prudence Randolph saw her husband, Case had been asking for a divorce. He'd never wanted children, but she'd naively thought he would want her baby…. He hadn't, and he hadn't wanted her, either.

Suddenly he was back, and after one passionate night, Prudy had a second chance at motherhood—but how would she tell Case?

As for Case, how could he ever tell Prudy the truth? He'd never stopped loving her, but just thinking about children… He and Prudy could make a fresh start, but he couldn't shake the feeling that she was hiding something….

Maternity Row. The street where little miracles are born!

Excellent second chance at love story, absolutely loved it from the first page to the last

Case(Cop)-Prudence(Prue)-nurse both loved eachother every much were married and happy together but before marriage Case had laid the condition no children,he does'nt want any child of his which Prue accepted but after 4 years being together and seeing all her friends getting pregnant she also wanted to have a baby so she lied to Case abt the pills got pregnant which Case reacted very badly and was anger and slowly this anger turned into bitterness everyone around Prue said Case will accept it and come along but no Case and Prue drifted apart and finally Prue miscarried after which Case files for divorce saying he cannot live with a woman he cannot trust leaving Prue heart broken and alone

they meet again after 8 years at christening and they both realise the passion is still there as strong spent a night together and Prue gets pregnant this time, but due to medical conditiuon of Case she had to wait till Case was allright to tell him the news and she was also scared about what will Case say this time

Case had his reasons for not wanting children of his own, don't wanna give away the spoiler,Case was bitter towards Prue cause she lied to him and the love he had for Prue was lost cause of the anger -bitterness he had developed even now he kept taunting Prue about it,but as time goes by he realises he still loves Prue like anything and decides to work on it

Prue is hesitant to be again with Case cause the way he hurted her but when Case says he still loves her she decides to go ahead but tell him clearly he has to trust her, whtever circumstances he will give her the benefit of doubt which obviously he blows it when comes to know Prue is pregnant and reacts very badly

But then again everything is sorted out and we have the happily ever after, the story was awesome the characters well developed and the way againg their love flourishes is great to read even secondary characters are great

Awesome read,definetely a keeper

A second-chance at love story. Prudy and Case have been divorced 8 years and Case is a cop. Prudy despite knowing that Case didn't want children from the start tricked him and got pregnant and eventually lost the baby and her marriage. She broke the fundamental trust between a husband and wife and paid for it. Case there were things in his past that made him not want to have kids. The book raises a moral question as well? Was what Prudy did right? No, saying that you are protected and then tricking your husband, bad really bad, but I liked Prudy don't ask me why, maybe because the author showed her remorse. Prudy and Case are thrown together for a family thing, sparks fly and they end up together, and Prudy thinks it is a new beginning but Case leaves without a word. Fast-forword few months, Prudy is pregnant and Case walks in injured in her ER(she's a nurse). There is a bad guy and he needs care and she volunteers. Slowly, their relationship builds again, but trust issues arise. Trust once lost is difficult to re-gain and this is shown realistically here. Prudy also doesn't tell Case about the baby because of doctor orders and when he finds out his reaction is not that good since the past rears its head again. There is a bad guy related to the case, which left Case injured and the end over the top scene was not needed in my opinion. A pretty good book.

Prudy & Case's first marriage ended when Case couldn't forgive Prue for her deception. She desperately wanted a child (while Case didn't) that she tricked him into getting her pregnant. She not only lost her baby, but her husband as well.

Eight years later Prudy and Case meet again. They let their attraction run loose and spend the night together. She gets pregnant. As she tries to get courage to admit it to him, he lands in her ER with a gunshot wound. And he needs someone to help him recuperate. Guess who's the only one who can do it? :-)

I like Case, with all his surliness and bad temper. He loves Prudy so much, but his fear of having children drove him to hurt, eight years ago, and now. The scene at the end when he admits that he loves her, and their unborn daughter is heart-breaking.

We see some more of Luke, as well as Boyd & Stacy (h/h from Daddy By Accident (Maternity Row)).

Another great character is Case's partner Don Petrov.

This book is like if there was a play that took place after Chekhov's gun went off but no one ever explained what exactly happened. We know that pre-book, somehow the heroine got pregnant while married to the hero, even though he didn't want kids, and that she "tricked" him somehow. Fine. But then...the particulars of what happened never get discussed? Ever? Even when she gets pregnant *again* despite assuring him she can't (albeit this time because she didn't think about how she'd thrown up some pills the previous week while having the stomach flu)? We just...never get the details of what happened the first time around. I guess the point is that the hero has to learn to forgive and...change his mind about having children after the point where he has that choice to make?? But it's so bizarre we never find out what specifically happened when it is the driving force for why they got divorced and why they still have conflict. Why keep it vague?

Prudence Randolph loved her cop husband Case and wanted children. He didn't. When she purposely gets pregnant, their marriage slowly dissolves, even after she miscarries. Years later they meet when both are godparents to his great nephew. A one night stand makes her pregnant again. An accident puts his life in danger and makes him a lousy patient that only Pru can control. He ends up at her house to convalesce, still not knowing about the baby. His reaction is similar, but when one of his cases puts them both in danger and him back in the hospital, things finally change. Good read. Loose continuation of another book.

I usually have trouble with the last climax coming from a man. I mean it's just a little sexist that men have to be the saviour always. Women can be that too.
At the end here, it's a man thing again when he pulled the trigger on himself to save her and the baby. But it's alright. It was a nice ending and has its purpose. Not just because he's a guy. He really have to prove to her that he loves him so much.
I love the ending and the fact that they are gonna be expecting another child.
