This was an enjoyable, quick read about local history. Written for young adults, this novelette brings , to life the shoe factory strike of 1870 in North Adams, MA. The shoe factory owner brings in seventy-five Chinese men from California to replace the "Crispin" strikers, which affects the small town in numerable ways. I especially enjoyed the friendship of Molly Bartlett and Chen Li.
