This was just a terrible, terrible book. It made me sick to my stomach! He was a pig and slept with dozens of women after he had sex with the heroine and then cockblocked her new boyfriend who was a very nice man. And she was plain stupid. The man had been non-discriminately sleeping with anything that moved for the last eight months and she just forgave him and let him treat her like crap. I didn't know he slept with other women or I would never have read this. His thoughts were disgusting, his behavior was disgusting and I just really did not like this. I could have dnf'd it and saved myself from grief but no I had to continue on and read the whole nasty thing. He was a terrible person and I bet his wife cheated on him. He had no redeeming qualities whatsoever. I haven't hated a book this bad for a long time. Well at least three days or so.... LOL I would not recommend it to anyone.

Nooooo.

No way the heroine takes the H back.

There is a lot here that ranks as a 4 star: cute heroine, charming hero, devastatingly hot seduction scenes.

However, the hero, due to some serious backstory, is very untrusting. He becomes cruel in the face of a confrontation. The heroine accepted his apology when he should have been made to SUFFER!

Sombrero de culo.

Re-Read:
Upon re-reading I am once again appalled that the heroine took the hero back after NO groveling. Okay, take him back, but make him earn it girl!

The H was treated like crap by the woman who married and promised to love him. She died in a car crash with her lover du jour.

The book starts with him returning to his office on the night of the funeral and finding the h, his secretary, there. In an attempt to comfort him, she has sex with him and then regrets happen on both sides.

Eight months later, he learns she is dating and the guy proposed. So he makes her take a “working” trip to the Caribbean and they end up in bed together during a hurricane.

They have a torrid affair, she gets preggers, he accuses her of the stupidest things. She leaves, he had her followed and even the PI thinks he’s an idjit, and I agree. Wholeheartedly!

This was an ok book. I didn’t fall in love with the H. And I understand why the h took him back but dammit, she should have given him hell first. She deserved a bigger, better grovel for the vileness he spewed at her! So disappointed in her. Smh

Enjoyable read. I liked both hero and heroine. He was a player and his first marriage was a disaster but l liked his declaration of love at the end and that he accepted the baby even though he thought it was not his. Not a safe book. Hero had many lovers before and after the lovemaking with our heroine.

I just read this book and can't remember a thing...oh, wait, now I remember:

Hero and heroine have recently been at hero's wife's funeral due to a car accident wherein the body of the wife's lover was found "clutching" (I think that's what it said) her.

Cheery, huh?

We get that part about the lover being in the car also later, but we realize early on that the H is not exactly mourning his wife's passing. Boss and secretary have amazing sex (she is NOT a virgin, btw) which rocks their collective worlds but the idiots act as if it meant nothing and, of course, the H has to do her one better and basicaly dismisses her as unattractive and their time together as a blip. The h gets a little of "her own" by basicaly calling it a "pity" fu7k. LOL I did like that part.

Flash forward 10 months and he's been whoring his way through the female population and she, of course, has been celibate but dating.

He gets his wake-up call that there's something else going on between them when she starts dating an "accountant", mamma's boy. Sizzling tension, blah blah. Hero makes up an excuse to....why am I telling you the story in my review? I don't do that.

Sorry. Obviously, I started remembering the story which was okay. They do fall in love eventually but even that is bittersweet because she gets knocked up and he doubts the baby is his because, we find out later, his ex said he was sterile...now where have I read that before?

It was a goodread, typical HP with practically every cliche accounted for. I LIKED it!!

I would have given it 4 stars but the ending pissed me off! He didn't even grovel and say how sorry he was for treating her like crap! And she...just fell into his arms and forgave him...okay ... I am okay w/forgiving him but he was a total jerk! And she should have gotten her pound of flesh (LOL) before she forgave him!

Sigh... I love HP!

They are both stupid. She says to him that he doesn’t need to use birth control because she had her period a few days ago. And he agrees with that. 🙄

No matter what, always use protection. Unless you want a baby or an STD.

A great read.

I really enjoyed the fun snappy dialogue.

Nick has been disillusioned about marriage blise and when his wife dies he goes a little crazy trying to prove his stud factor to himself. First on his list is his sweet assistant Lucy.

Being somewhat drunk he is not sure if that really was the best sex he ever had or was it the drink? He goes onto see if he can find it again with other women.

Believing the night is a mistake Lucy tries to forget about it, but she still loves him. Amazingly they are able to work together for months until Lucy starts seeing a guy and Nick gets jealous.

Nick starts feeling all these emotions and he starts making plans to overcome them so he can continue on his merry single way.

But events happened and Nick can't let her go........

You can really feel poor Nick's confusion and pain as he learns to deal with all these new fightening emotions. Lucy is a modern woman and stays strong. Even through she loves him she is not going to be his doormat. The passion between them is sizzling but also sweet.

Was a nice sweet read. Well written and passionate. Both characters are likeable and connectable.

I liked this book quite a bit, for its unusual beginning, for its unusual heroine (in terms of personality), and for the way the relationship developed with some humour. However, just as things are going along tickety-boo between the protagonists, the author (I guess) decided things weren't dramatic enough, and inserted a drama. The scene as a whole, however, really reduced the quality of the book; it went from being quite believable, with appealing characters, to being somewhat believable, with somewhat inconsistent characters. That said, this author is new to me, and I'm still willing to read another of her books.

3 1/2 Stars! ~ Lucy had been in love with her boss for some months now. Having had too much to drink the evening of his estranged wife's funeral, Nick finds himself in his office and there's Lucy reaching out to comfort him. When morning comes they both agree to fall back to their working relationship and set their evening of passion aside. Only eight months later, Nick finds himself thinking of Lucy all the time and he starts to plot how he will convince her into an affair. So he takes her on a business trip and the seduction begins. Lucy's no match to Nick's charisma, and she finds herself wanting however much time he's willing to give her. Things get rocky when Lucy tells Nick something that makes him certain that she's been deceiving him all along, and has been scheming to get his money.

Ms. Williams gives a great look into Nick when he battles his fears that he has somehow taken advantage of Lucy that first night when he was not himself. Nick's a very alpha hero but we get wonderful glimpses of his heart even though he doesn't know his true feelings. Lucy is a great match for Nick. Loving him from afar, she's learnt to mask her feelings behind walls of cool efficiency. But her passion is just as wild as Nick's. They have a very sizzling chemistry. This is a first for me by Ms. Williams. I enjoyed it very much

I liked this. Lucy and Nick are cute together. I was surprised though by his harshness over the baby. His ex wife cheated and lied a lot of things but yet he chose to believe his ex wife when he was told he couldn't father a child...? Ah I just didn't like that part...

Blech. This read like a Harlequin from the mid 1980's, where the books were either hidden gems or nothing but men treating women like crap. The whole book the H does nothing but try to manipulate the h. Some things he said to her were quite vile and she just rolled over and said basically "Oh honey, I understand, all is forgiven!". He had a bad first marriage but clearly learned nothing about making sure others didn't suffer like he had. Also, am I the only one that finds it gross that the guy is banging everything that walks where she remains pure as the driven snow in the 8 months between their drunken one night stand (that's on the first page) and his deciding he wants a piece of her again? Book feels older to me than being written in 2002, some very dated themes.

It's okay I guess, enjoyable but nothing special. The hero was a widower and he first slept with his secretary, the heroine, in the night of his wife's funeral. But he couldn't stop thinking about her after awhile. They started dating 8 months after that. She got pregnant but he didn't believe her. So he banished her instead and had her followed. He approached her and she convinced him again that she was carrying his child. He went to the doctor to get the test bc he thought he couldn't fathered a child.

Quick read but an average read. I did like the main characters and I really like the passion that Lucy brought in as she wasn't just a weak-minded woman but she did have her moments. Though I do feel that as a woman we do that for someone we love

I did like this book typical HQ Romance but I am on an HQ kick. I read them all the time when I was younger and just got back to them. Historic Romance are still my favorites but needed a break. These books are quick little read to get a break from my usual reading

Lucy is Nick Constantinou's secretary. On the night of his wife's funeral, he shows up drunk at the office where she's hiding out and they end up having sex. Both are immediately determined to forge that it happened, but neither is very successful. Nick is actually becoming increasingly grumpy and takes out his frustrated desire for her in a rather cruel attitude towards her. Lucy doesn't stop wanting him, but has started dating anyway. But when Nick finds out that she's with another guy, he decides to go all out toward getting her back into his bed and out of his system once and for all.

So I didn't care for either character here. Nick hit so many asshole buttons. First was his unprofessional attitude - allowing his desire for her to influence the way he treats her at work (which wasn't very nicely), more or less sexually harassing her as he becomes stalker-man and follows her and her boyfriend to a restaurant and then actually planning a business trip so that he could seduce her (and get her away from the boyfriend). He did everything he could to get her away from her boyfriend for his own sexual fulfillment. He didn't care about her happiness, but he justified his need to have sex with her by telling himself they weren't right for each other.

And Lucy...I don't care how uncertain she was about getting married to Robert, but she had an understanding and commitment with him when she went on the business trip. She cheated on him. And I lost major respect for her. I also had to cringe at the complete lack of contraceptive use... She realizes it of course after their first time, and casually mentions that she's out of the danger zone for pregnancy. Interesting that she didn't once ask whether he'd been tested for STDs. That would be my first question to a guy who is known to sleep around and didn't even think to use a condom (nor question it afterwards). And this doormat of a heroine forgave the hero entirely too easily. Especially given the accusations he'd hurled at her. Also especially since he didn't actually apologize for his behavior.
