Miguel Hidalgo had been left for dead by the minions of De Colores's evil dictator, but he was very much alive—and determined to exact revenge and return his country to freedom. But even a man of Miguel's determination and talents couldn't accomplish that alone. He needed Veronica Harper.
Ronnie had flown into De Colores on a mission of mercy only to find herself hijacked at gunpoint, forced to fly the handsomest man she'd ever seen to safety. Soon guns were no longer necessary, because once Ronnie heard Miguel's story she was eager to help him rescue his island home, and even more eager to spend the future by his side.

I have worn out 2 copies of this book! Thank goodness for used book stores. I'm waiting for Harlequin/Kindle to start releasing the old copies of the Harlequin library, because I'd get one for my Kindle, too. I never know when I'll be in the mood for another go-round and one of these days my current copy is going to crumble to pieces.
Miguel Hidalgo is supposed to be dead, #2 in a triumvirate of 3 that is rapidly on its way down to a lone dictator. Only he doesn't die. Except for a female pilot who was dropping off supplies for the Red Cross, he might well have. Ronnie - at the point of a wobbling gun in the hands of the badly wounded Miguel - takes him back to her home in Florida. What else do you do with a man who is bleeding all over the seat of your little airplane? Push him out over the sea? And she discovers the man beneath the news reports. Educated, charming, and such skill with pretty words!
But Miguel wants to go back and rescue his country, even though there is a price on his head now the dictator discovers he is alive. No one close to Miguel is safe, not even Ronnie.
I know it's a Harlequin, I know it's a series romance, I know, I know, but it's so good, and this early Kathleen Eagle justifies all the success she's had since.
