"Art is theft," Picasso once proclaimed. The wily old Spaniard was being provocative – he often equated theft to what could more benignly be called influence. But increasingly much of the best and, even, most original art involves an act or two of unequivocal, overt theft – an act of simple copy and paste.

This book looks at modern-day art theft from all angles: art-histor

There were moments of clarity, and the subject warranted a clear discussion, but this book was too chatty, too disorganized and too 'insider' for me to have given it a better rating. The language often seemed to be deliberately 'clever', and the discussion was conducted as a stream of consciousness exercise. Still, even though it was difficult to wade through the points Shore was making, a useful exploration.

Interesting discourse on appropriation in art and how most of what we consider as original is nothing more than reinterpretation in some manner.

A rare thing - a straightforward, conversational book on art theory. A good introduction to the debate around originality, appropriation and remix culture that doesn’t end up being a polemic either for or against copyright. Thoughtful and funny, too.
