"My First Animal ABC" offers a wonderful world of wildlife for the new reader to explore. Every page has not one, but multiple animals for each alphabetic letter. "O" isn't just Otter, my favorite animal, for example; it's also Owl, Opossum, and Ostrich - each beautifully and accurately drawn. The book is filled with drawings of leaves, plants, flowers, shells - all sorts of things to look at.
And that is a hallmark with Pledger. His animals are always lovely, with friendly expressive eyes. The animals range from Aardvarks, to Polar bears, to Robins (British) and Jays (British) to a Lemur, a Cat (Domestic), a Quail (Calfornia) to a Reindeer. Every odd page is a foldover, offering a the answer to a "secret" or challenge underneath thanks to author A.J. Wood ("Can you spot a sea horse with a long curly tail?").
The dust jacket even hides a complete animal alphabet on the inside. A charming and sweet book with lovely drawings. Excellent for reading aloud and sharing.
