In this book, Holm tries something that I haven’t heard of before: He writes a TV show in book form. The concept intrigued me immediately when I first heard about it, because it seemed to be one of those things that can either succeed well or fail miserably. Now, having read the book, I can say that my opinion is that the concept definitely works and makes for an interesting change in the novel genre.

“Tempus Investigations: Season 1” is divided into four “episodes”, written as stories that stand

Tempus Investigations is a novel written as though it were a TV series. When the author first approached me with the review request I was really intrigued and thought what a unique idea! If he pulls this off it’ll be an awesome read. And he did!

This novel serves as season 1. It follows the investigations of Private Detective Jim Corrigan who takes on cases of the supernatural variety either from direct approaches by clients or ones

Tempus Investigations is the first audiobook release for bestselling Danish author Claus Holm and it is an excellent beginning for a really entertaining new series. You can read the publisher’s summary for the plot, but I suggest that you don’t. All you need to know is that the story is broken into multiple short adventures, each of them set in different seasons and that the main character is an immortal police detective gone private eye.

As he deals with his immortality, Jim thinks about death,

This was a brilliant book. The writer does an excellent job of pulling me in from the very beginning, I didn't expect to get totally wrapped up in this book but once I started there was no going back. This was undoubtedly one of the most charming and beautiful things I have ever read! This book was amazing. A solid read, An highly enjoyable mystery in the Tempus Investigations from Claus Holm. The characters are well-developed and the writing, especially the dialogue, is always spot-on. The book ...more

It’s your basic paranormal detective mystery.

The somewhat convoluted introduction tells us this story is intended to be like a TV series, though you could ignore this quite happily. The book is divided into four sorta-independent episodes and the tone is slightly cheesy. Other than that, it doesn’t much resemble a TV series.

The basic premise is that the main character, Jim Corrigan, is immortal and can see ghosts. Naturally he’s a private detective. Through the various episodes, he tackles evil

I will say I wasn’t sure about this book when I first read the description. I do enjoy supernatural books but I was afraid this was a little too far left for my taste. I was not so disappointed.
Tempus Investigations is incredibly unique; the book takes place in San Francisco and centers on an investigator who has an unfortunate case of immortality. Spanning 4 ‘episodes’ of a television show, Tempus Investigations follows an a

I was a bit wary of this book at first as it described itself with the following words: ‘Tempus Investigations mixes the world of TV and books, making a unique kind of story – a fan fiction so elaborate it needed to create the show itself.’ The quality of fan fiction can be so variable that I was worried that it was just going to be a cheap imitation of all the TV series that I watched in my teens, however it’s well written and far enough removed from those stories that it has its own original s ...more

It's no secret that I'm a huge fan of TV crime shows (Criminal Minds, Law & Order, CSI, Bones... they're all my jam), so a fictional version sounded very intriguing! Also, I liked the idea of reading fanfiction for a show that doesn't even exist :)

Fortunately, it worked well. I really liked Jim and his friends, and though there were definitely some "episodes" I was fonder of than others, I would absolutely tune in for the second season.

I'm a writer from an early age, and I am facinated by everthing fantastic and supernatural. I get most of my ideas from my own dreams and nightmares.
