I have loved every Karina Halle book that I've read up to this point. So, when I saw that she had a new, forbidden love story released, I was sure that it would be an instant hit with me. After all, Ms. Halle can write a taboo love story with an anti-hero that you love to hate and hate to love like nobody else. Javier Bernal, anyone?

Unfortunately, 'Heat Wave' failed to deliver for me. It elicited plenty of emotions, just not the ones that were intended. Mostly, I was just damn angry! I don't mea

Heat Wave is Karina Halle’s newest standalone novel. It’s a second chance/forbidden type romance. I love reading any book by Halle. Her words always speak to me, and this story was no exception. This book takes place on the island of Kauai and let me tell you, the descriptive writing with the beautiful scenery- you can imagine yourself transported to that beautiful island while you’re reading.

First time reading a Karina Halle book and it's such an interesting take on how to write a travel guide! Brilliant concept. All travel guides should be written with a love story as background!

Karina Halle has a distinct voice and a very unique writing style which never fails to engage me - each book of hers that I have read - and I have read a lot of them - has been a total "reading" pleasure for me.

I have mixed feelings about Heat Wave, her newest standalone novel. Okay, I didn't hate the story - there were some things that I really liked...but.........let me just write down some points.......

Heat Wave is my second Karina Halle read. Although I loved some of its parts, it fell short of my expectations. It didn't wow me as much as Smut did.

Veronica "Ronnie" Locke became attracted to Logan Shephard when they met at a fundraising event which was hosted by her mom. With their instant connection, they're supposed to start going out and fall in love. It didn't happen, though. Because Logan's attention sh

This book was sooooo rushed! I blinked and they were getting married.

I´m not particularly fond of stories where there´s a shared love interest between sisters, however, i like them if they are done right.
This wasn´t done right, first, Logan and his reasons why he married the sister, YOU SUCK, DUDE, i mean, he already had invited her to have drinks after the party, and as soon as the sister appeared, poor Veronica was forgotten....After that happened, i just couldn´t believe in the

This is my first book by Karina Halle, can you believe it? I was so interested when I read the plot and when I saw the good reviews about it I got straight in there. I wanted to start with a standalone and this was perfect: I mean who does not love a forbidden second chance romance?

I have to start this off by saying that I ABSOLUTELY POSITIVELY HATED VERONICA'S MOM!! Hated her soooooooo much!! Hate anyone who has that kind of ugliness in their soul and puts it on their children!!

Ok. Rant over.

One thing that is pretty much guaranteed when picking up a book from Karina Halle is feels. This woman knows how to write angst, create a conflict of emotions, and pull on those good ol' heart strings.

Unfortunately due to my lack of spare time I can't be as thorough with this as I would like. Also unfortunately and it pains me to do so, I have to rate this 3 stars.

Karina Halle has an amazing talent and ability to make you travel with her in whatever world she chooses. Spain, Italy, Hawaii, the middle of the USA, you name it , she transports you there every time. And she does it here as well, quite beautifully.

Wow!! It still shocks me how people can give this 5 ,4 stars. I'm being judgmental here and I don't care. I refuse to believe any woman with self respect and a minimum of self esteem would stoop to this kind of relationship. And being in the best scenario a 2nd best to no one else but your sister. I'm sick right now won't this plot. In the disclaimer the author says "THERE'S ABSOLUTELY NO CHEATING ". Is that so?? I beg to differ.

Throughout the book I wanted Logans POV, I wanted to know his thoughts, how exactly he felt, and how he really felt about Juliet vs. Veronica. I'm still torn on it, i like second chances, I don't like second choices and I'm still confused on that and feel as if this was a second choice because the first fell through. It was enjoyable in the beginning. A bit slow throughout. It was a typical romance book and nothing really special. The storyline was predictable and the characters were "meh".

I don't really have much to say because I didn't really love it but it was a decent read for my first Karina Halle book.

The way she shows Kauai to her readers - the sights, the smells, the feel, all of it - it’s all on point. Her writing is highly descriptive but manages to avoid feeling like some glossy travel brochure; it makes you want to hop on a plane and go there immediately. I kinda feel like HTA owes her a few bucks or something ;)

So anyway, this story is a second chance romance of a sort. While I never truly warmed up to either of the main characters, I can’t deny that the sexual chemistry between them w

A few things...

I'm not exactly sure how the chronology works in this book, but, supposedly Veronica, "Ronnie" met Logan when she was 22. It's been seven years since then, and he's now 39, or "nearly forty". She should be 29, but it's mentioned that she's 27 years old. Little bit confused??

Secondly, I've read Halle's works before. Problem wasn't in the writing - it was in the plot.

This is the love story between a man and his dead wife's sister.

I don't want to read it because of the facts in the following excerpt:

What could be more magical than an emotional and fiery love story set in the tropical surroundings of Hawaii? I couldn’t ask for anything more, as Karina Halle transports us to the beautiful, sun-filled beaches during the day and steams up the nights with the sizzling romance between Logan and Veronica.

And in her latest new release, Karina whips up a love story that was intense, visceral, raw, and emotionally compelling.
